What a great trip! Our
stomach muscles have never had such a workout from laughing!
Even though Bob warned us not to give a lot of boring
airport trip details, I will clarify that the taxi ride to CRC is $40..whether
you have 1 or 4 people.so if someone is coming to CRC on the same flight,
go ahead and plan on sharing the ride.
Unlike Dianes experience clearing Cancuns immigrations, when we got off the plane, everyone got in the Passport line and hardly anyone was in the No-Passport line.
So, even if you have a passport, go ahead and bring your
certified birth certificate and drivers license. Bringing both lets you have a choice. Okayenough airport info
The resort is great!
No downer report here! We
were prepared to hate the alcohol, never sleep once due to the hard beds, and
to only see one or two smiling waiters/bartenders. Fortunately, none of this
was true. Sure, we usually dont
drink JB scotch at home and usually drink better wine, but after the first 1
or 2 drinks, who cares? And, I
must have slept thru the worries about the hard beds.and everyone
who waited on us was smiling and laughing and usually got the order right.
(If the order was wrong, it was fixed immediately).
Robert is a big (non-conspicuous) tipper so that probably helped.
We never had to wait hours to get our food like some reports said. We must have been there on good days. My only recommendations to the resort would be to
invest $100 per room for new shower heads and an in room safe (not that we
heard of any problems). Some A/C
for the disco would also be nice. Do
not wear a lot of clothes if you plan on dancing!
(WWWers usually do not have a problem with this suggestion!)
Otherwise, we loved everything.
When we checked in, we got a downstairs unit as we had
requested, but our room had 2 double beds in it instead of a king.
Charles moved us the next day as soon as one had become available.
The new rooms king bed was really squeaky (anytime we moved,
it squeaked like nails on a chalk board).
I am sure whoever was in the room next door must have thought Robert
was a superman and that we never slept all night!
We looked at the frame the next day and discovered that it was broken
so we just moved the mattress on the floor and did the 70s bed thing. The
maintenance men at the resort immediately tried to replace the frame but we
told them just to wait until we left
On Wednesday, we had a nice, get acclimated, kind of day
and an early night. Things
changed a bit on Thursday when the rest of the WWWers arrived.
Most of us hung out by the pool. The
waiters would come around and take drink orders which was a nice thing.
Thursday night was black and glow night and my outfit was
a bit comical. With strategically
placed lights, I became MR. BILL! Mr.
Bill had a great time dancing!!
Friday was more poolage with a fierce Round the
Figure 8 Pool raft race. (Watch those steps!)
More laughing .drinking.laughing..drinkingyou get the
picture. Robert and I had a massage side by side under the palm trees
near the pool. It was pretty good
although I have had better massages. We
had 2 women give the massages, but I think the one that Robert got was in
training so I think I got the better end of that deal.
And, as Cathy can attest to, be sure to rinse all the sand off of you
before you go or your massage will be a body exfoliation instead!
Friday night, Mardi Gras night, was mine and Roberts
anniversary and we appreciated the toast at dinner.
Thank you Mike and everyone.
It really is amazing that you can feel so close to friends that you
just met 2 days earlier.
Saturday, we hung out on the beachwhich, here again,
was nicer than we had anticipated. You
cannot float in the water like at Hedo but you can snorkel around the jetties
and see a lot (according to Robert and Denis).
Saturday night was fun too!
Thanks to Denis finding Addicted to Love, Lin finally
got her dancing debut. (Oh, I
forgotit was Lins evil twin sister!)
Too bad she never noticed that Antonio? was on the edge of the
dance floor wanting a lap dance..
Once again, thanks to Denny and Dyan for helping us find new life long friends. The WWW group is always the best! We laughed and laughed. Between learning how to get new jewelry, watching Robert experiment with a sarong, listening to Denis telling his great stories and speaking spanish (or is that Mexicano?), trying to win the Best couple contest (Bob, I think we are winning!), avoiding the scuba diving students from the resort next door swimming around us in the pool, and watching the nightly pole dancing competitions (3 way tie between Jan, Lin and LUIS/Antonio?), I think that future vacations cant get any better.but then again, if we continue to travel with this wonderful bunch of people, I am sure they will!
