Ron & Cheryl - April, 2005 Wet, Wild, and Wicked

AIRLINE:
Tried a newer airline for the first time. USA3000. Lemmi tell ya, for $99 a person, one way + taxes it was a great deal! Newer plane, no first class so the seats were much roomer, OK breakfast or lunch served, on time departure and arrival, a fun entertaining crew and most important- a safe trip. The web site is http://www.usa3000.com/. If you live anywhere near one of their departing cities you will save a ton of money and will be able to stay at Desire a couple more extra days.

TRANSPORTATION:
Also tried a different transportation service-that being Royale Transportation. Details on the Desire Web Site. WOW!!! Great service. Private car was waiting just outside the terminal with the driver having your name on a place card. No need to scour around trying to find the right company. Large ROYALE signs by the exit doors. Our driver, Ledicia was a sweetheart. The cost was $70 round trip. No other stops. Direct to the resort. Naturally if warranted, GRATUITIES were forthcoming. And they were indeed warranted. Why spend $55 on a small Neon or VW when for a couple more bucks you could have a full size car and a private driver. They confirmed our return trip by calling us at the resort and were there an hour early. After you get your luggage just keep walking straight ahead. Talk to no one. As Cheryl did, she just kept saying 1 word- NO,NO,NO,NO,NO.

RESORT:
The fish!!! Yes the fish. First place we went to was the pool side grill. Grouper. Grilled Grouper. Been tasting it since our last trip and we were not disappointed. Folks, this place has as good a food as any cruise ship we've been on. New chef. New goodies. New coffee brand. Fantastic breakfast. Superb lunches and excellent dinners. The specialty restaurant was OK but we felt the 3 hour dining experience was way to long to spend eating when there were so many other "things" going on. Beside we both enjoy the special made "nightly specials" at the buffet. All fresh-all yummy.

Our room was great. A/C worked fine. Clean and always made up daily. TV has many US channels and always worked. Comfy king bed, iron & iron board and hair dryers in the room. We stayed in room 2213-second floor ocean front. Plenty of hot water any time of day or night. Only suggestion is that you bring 100 watt light bulbs with you for the bathroom & pole lamp. The 30 watters are much to small for make-up & shaving.

The beach with it's new doodads and umbrellas were dynamite. Still some glass on the beach from the past storm so be careful. It's cleaned and raked daily. Always enough chairs and lounges. Drink service every 10 or 15 minutes. The new dock is nice but way to windy for us.

Unlike last year, there were no fly's at all. In fact very few bugs at all. Resort is sprayed nightly

Water sport crew-well these guys were super. Went out on the Hobie Cat 3 times and each time was more fun than the last. They are new and 2 couples can go at a time. Charbel was our "Captain." This guy is the funniest. Always has a new story to tell you.

Entertainment & Activities crew. JJ, Omar, Nino, Sol, Arturo, Andre, Ricardo & Andrea- Always kept things moving. Sorry if I missed anyone's name. Do not believe the posts you read about the lame entertainment & activities. These people are good sports & fun folks.

Disco: Once again the recent negative posts do no reflect the happenings at the disco. The dance floor was always packed and a decent variety of music for all.

Playroom: Finally, after spending a full week at Desire in October and not realizing there was a playroom, we found it. Much to confining and musty smells for us. Needs a better A/C system or ventilating system.

Hot Tub:
WhoooooooooooHooooooooooo!!!!! Enough said? What with the beds, bar & sometimes snacks, this is the place to go. Very sexually charged atmosphere. Once again, and only our opinions, way to much unprotected sexual activities for our taste. Why not just play Russian Roulette? As suggested in the past by others on this forum, the resort should provide condoms in all the "PLAY" areas. Just a suggestion.

DRINKS:
We were introduced to an after dinner drink called "43" by Serall & Rich. Bought a couple bottles at the airport on the way home. Best after dinner drink we've ever had. The bar keeps were very cool and would make almost any drink or concoction you could think of.

SERVICE:
All the wait staff could not do enough for us. Noberto who waited on us last time remembered us as did Poncho and most all others. Great crew.

As always, Silvina & Mario were always walking the grounds to be of assistance to anyone needing help.

Suggestions to the resort:
I think it would be a good idea to have those hand sanitizers by every buffet as the better buffets and cruise ships have. Health issues are always important and I for one would appreciate the sanitizers. Clothing of some sorts should always be worn around food. I don't find it in good taste to stand naked in a food line. Wearing a towel or wrap would not be asking to much. Condoms in the play areas would also be appreciated.

To all our new friends we met:
You guys were great. The stories and happenings of the week will always be remembered and hopefully we will all have the opportunity of meeting up once again at Desire. Thanks to DennyP for allowing us to join in with your group. Ya really got some WWW (Wet, Wild And Wicked) couples. . And our new best friends from Alaska finally thawed out from brain freeze. Minus 50 degrees can get mighty cold. ArticKats- ya all really need more time in the sun!

To those that are considering vacationing at Desire:
Forget about the hang ups, the I don't knows, I'm not a swinger (either are we), I won't fit in and any other excuse for not coming. YOU REALLY DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU WILL BE MISSING. In other words, book your trip tonight.

One last and most important item. Naturally, this is an all inclusive resort and tipping is not expected-BUT, the entire staff busts to make your stay enjoyable so do the right thing and show your appreciation. Believe us, they will be more than appreciative.
