Trip number Nine!! Almost double digits!!! (our 4th WWWW) We were so excited that we were going for 8 nights instead of the six or seven nites we have stayed for WWWW before.
We flew in on Friday, knowing that we were landing only about 40 minutes ahead of Jim and Janie. Once in the SuperClubs lounge I quickly identified Scott (from CO) and chatted briefly until his bus was ready. Then came the waves of WWWWrs, including Kevin/Wendy and Jim/Tricia. What a comforting feeling to see these familiar faces knowing how soon we would be home! Without much waiting Jim/Janie arrived in time for us to wander out to the buses with the group. It was filling up fast so we backed off to make sure there was room for all four of us. We jokingly asked one of the porters if we could have a little van for four minutes later we were escorted to a mini van and off we went Jim, Janie, Brett and me! What a wonderful opportunity to catch up! WE laughed and drank(Janie & I had both stashed some booze in our bags for the ride..sorry.. non-beer drinkers!) all the way to Hedo.
We arrived and checked in pretty rapidly. We had booked GVN and had to BEG to get H Block which is all I wanted. That IS the reason we paid the extra money. Alas, we got it and we were happy. We went off to drop the bags and hit the beach.
Those who know me know that I will usually tell you that the first day of a vacation includes the first day drunk. This trip was no different.(considering I was buzzing by the time we arrived!) The rest of the day becomes a blur.. shots, more shots, flaming shots, some of Jims jug, dinneroh yea.. it was lobster I think I remember eating it! J Apparently I was convinced that I should wear my towel to dinner.. no shower, just a shirt and towel. AND I guess I dropped the towel in the dining room a couple times, AND I was (along w/ Zilla) reprimanded my Mr. Bourke for turning on the hibachi grill in Munisan! I DIDNT DO IT!!! I dont think.
Highlights:
The Magical Mystery Bash.. Steve/Nancy, Jim/Nissa you all did a great job orchestrating this event. I know that the financial success was in part due to the generous donations and bids of the WWWrs, but you conceived the idea, you worked with the resort to make it happen Regardless of the amount raised.. it was a great time.. thank you!
The goat, I truly believe that by the time the goat showed up none of us remember exactly why. It was more for the point to prove it could be done. I, for one, will never, NEVER doubt Bobs ability to get anything. He will always know a guy who knows a guy that can get ANTYHING.
Poker Tournaments Go LAINA! I wasnt around for your first win, but I was by your side when you chose to just finish it up and take second. (No offense to anyone, but she was bored and wanted to go play!)
NBHs.. honestly.. the wonderful hugs we get from our friends at Hedo are the best! Of course theres nothing like seeing Rupe come at you with that smile on his face, tossing his keys/whistle over his shoulder ready for a full body hug! Its just one of those things that lets you KNOW youre at Hedo with the WWWW.
Calendar Dave/Laina.. what an undertaking. This was a never ending project for you, however the result was wonderful. Nice that we could raise additional money for the kids, and get a cool calendar to boot. I just wish it didnt have you working every nite!
WWWW Virgins What a great crop of new folks we had join us this year. Really a banner one! Bob/Sharon, Randy/Allison, John, Paul, Chris.. and all the others. Im so lucky I remember anyone and anything.. REALLY! I hope all of you chose to join us again next year. I promise to be more fun!!! J
New couples: How wonderful to see our old friends, who weve watch end relationships begin new ones and become sooooo happy. Hazel/Jake, Cheryl/Rick, Kris/RandyWhen new relationships survive and then flourish at Hedo its a GREAT sign!
The Hippopotamus song I know I said this on the board, but the looks on Elaine & Zillas faces as they would sing that song was just contagious! Ill remember it always.
Randy I think EVERYONE on the resort had a clue who Randy was by the end of the week. Good thing the resort didnt make us pay more for his entertainment!! Apparently Lainas planning a Randy gene exorcism next year.. cuz every man has a bit of the Randy gene. (It sounded good in my head before I said it) Kris has her hands full with him.. but what a made for each other couple.
Playboy Channel I was SOOO against Tvs in the rooms.. but I LIKE that Playboy Channel.
Slut Wives and Man Whores. It just cracks me up how excited we all get to have a badge! That whole concept built a world on its own and TRUST ME, it doesnt translate at home!!! We had some fun with it, and Im proud to be a wife! (ok.. slut wife.. but Brett always knew that about me!)
Bad brownies Ok.. so we dont do brownies.. unless of course the idea of me sitting in the corner staring at the walls sounds like fun!.. but MAN there were some deadly brownies!! Those darn Elvesand it wasnt just the keebler elves, apparently the Jamaican elves made deadly ones too! (right L?)
Ground control Gee I like that word! There was a lot of that! I never took my turn, although I think I put Brett in the position of being my ground control the first nite! Then again.. I think HE WAS DRUNK TOO!!! Yikes we lost control!!!!
Speaking of being excited about stuff Dirty minds, dirty minds. Not THAT kind of excited!!! Thanks to Dean & Patti for the hot lanyards!! We all turn into 2nd graders when theres something being given out. ME ME ME!!! Thank you very much and thank your customer! J
DennyP Those twinkling eyes and always a nice word. We know we all owe him for our good time. Those of us who spend time surfing the net, that somehow fell upon his site that gave average folks a chance to speak up about the resort(s) they love. (yeah, I know.. are we REALLY average???) This site brought us together, as vastly different as we are, and made us one group, a smaller party of the Hedo family. Although some of us never meet, we share something wonderful.. a week every year with Denny and the wacky winter wet wild wicked group!
A special thanks to The People those people we didnt have a meal with, those people we didnt sit in the pool with. People that you chat with at the bar, throw comments to in the dining room, or along the walkway. Your quick hug, or smile You make it trip so much better. We all spend most of our time with the people we are most comfortable with but everyone else is still a HUGE part of the trip. So to everyone we exchanged words with, or a hug or a giggle.. THANK YOU!
MY(OUR) HEDO PEOPLE There are names, but you all know who you are(and Im sure I would forget SOMEONE).. you hear from me, I send you quick IMs just to say HI, you get email from me, you ALL know that we love you. You are the PRICELESS joy of the trip for us. Your friendships, your acceptance, your support.. it keeps me strong. From the counselors who tell me Im ok just the way I am, to my drinking partners (I failed you this year!), to my long loving friends who keep me going year round. Thats wrong OUR long loving friends.. we love you all so very much and so appreciate your year round friendships!
The trip went by all too quicklymany of us were sick through the week with sore throats and some with fevers. Would this trip be number one in our book.. nah.. but it was a GREAT TIME!! I would take that vacation over any other any day! I would be remiss not to mention the illness that plagued so many of us that last day or so. Fortunately on I(Christie) got the stomach thing/food poisoning. I laid in bed until 2pm, dressed and got on the bus at 3pm. It definitely put the damper on the goodbyes.. but we did have an AWESOME Moon Hill send off!
This is a MUST for us. We still discover new things about ourselves and each other with every trip. We renew friendships and make new ones. We laugh ourselves absolutely silly at the most ridiculous thingsWow..maybe this is why I rarely write these things.. I wanna go HOME!!!!
How many days til WWWW2005??
-Christie (&Brett of course!)
