Rupe & Pat - December, 2003 Wet, Wild, and Wicked

Winter WWW 12/3 - 12/13

Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale, a tale of a fateful trip. It started on a tropic isle, we didn't have a ship.

Our Storm, he was a little rough. His girl friend, she got lost. If not for the spirit of 3-Ws, Sunlovers would be lost.....

OK, so it's not a report on Gilligan's Island but it is an adventure that will go down as one of the best trips to Hedo so far.

Travel to the resort went without a hitch from our front door to room 2240 (H-block) in just under 10 hours. Not a record, but certainly on schedule. Tony even gave us a ride to our room in the luggage truck so everything was much smoother than the usual "soon come" we've grown used to. Thank god we went ahead of the crowd as we missed 18 inches of snow which closed many airports a few days later.

Since we were ahead of the group by a few days we had a chance to ease into things and do a bit of wandering on the property. It's always interesting to see what may have changed since our last trip. The only obvious improvements besides the guest room renovations (almost complete in the far nude section) were the bathrooms.... completely re-done at the main building, by the TV room, and the nude pool complex. Even the old men's / ladies facilities had been converted to one large men's room by the time we left. Considering what they had to work with I'd say the actual facilities are excellent, although the placement leaves a bit to be desired. (more on that later) This is the first time in 4 trips that we actually saw water in that new hot tub above the disco and it wasn't leaking. OTOH, the water was cold so it still wasn't being used. Same goes for the hot tub by the spa. Cold all week. The nude hot tub and the prude hot tub also had problems with temp control and the nude tub was totally out of service for several days with filter issues to boot. One day the prude tub was empty of water! (they really need to get a handle on this) The small tub in the prude / garden area was working, although I've never seen anyone use it.

We quickly settled into a daily rut of getting too little sleep, eating too much, and consuming large quantities of liquor... but like I said... ramping up to speed on the first few days. Of course this all changed as the WWW people filtered in and shot our schedule all to hell. This turned our good vacation into a great vacation! At this point the relaxing part is also over and it's time to party.

Many of the details are just a blur and I'll have to look over the pictures again to jog the old memory. The WWW *planned* activities were fantastic this time but I'm thinking that we need to look at the schedule for next year as I recall some of the more popular things kinda bunched up making it a tough decision for participation versus sand gravity. (pretty heavy choice while on vacation) I know that many will agree on one activity per day being a good pace and after that it seems to cut into the reason we take a vacation. *Too much going on* is also one of the reasons we tend to favor staying on campus instead of heading into town for a meal, etc. Thinking back to our 10 nights it included 2 repeater's parties, Denny's welcome party, 2 toga nights, the erotic gift exchange, the Magical Mystery Tour, Men in Motion, Wet T-shit contest, and several cat cruises. All of this is basically on the *must do* list and we did most of it. (whew, wiping forehead) In addition Pat tried to do nude volleyball each day and I even tried to go watch a few times but alas, it was just too much! <G>

While I'm ranting about "too much" (in a good way) let me say that the new faces in the group this year really brought the party to life. I know it's hard to do better every season but this was certainly the case. I'm still amazed that we had around 50 virgins and a whole pile of newbies beyond that who just jumped right in and all got along great with the veterans. Only at Hedo!

I saw another group come in one night (2 buses) and ran into one of them in the men's room later on so asked who they were. Without missing a beat the guy said it was a bible study group and walked out. Rumors flew like crazy till we figured out they were shooting a movie. They also turned out to be a great bunch of people and didn't disrupt any of the regular resort activities at all. The whole bible study bit was a joke!

Let me change gears here and cover a few of the rough edges that seem to come with the territory. All of the food we ate was good. I'm a picky eater and still gained 5 pounds in 11 days. My only complaint with food is consistency of the finished product. IOW, it's seldom the same twice in a row. There are exceptions here as Charlie's breakfast and Robert's lunch are perfect EVERY time. (unless they run out of something)

Gotta say the resort in general seems to be cleaner and more orderly with the exception of the men's room in the court yard, which is still a disaster by 11 pm most every night. We never had a shortage of towels although I must say the prude side has a supply of newer ones and the nude side is still languishing with the thread bare yellow style that have been around for years.

The rooms that have been renovated look nice but still wondering about that grey trim. (what's up with that?) I'm waiting to see what they do with the exterior because the old black trim on the units seems to detract from the natural wood / clear coated doors. Is there a master plan that will tie it together and will there be some visual improvements on the outside? Soon come I suppose.

One sore spot with the renovations is the location of the new ladies rest room, which is behind the old facility. It's out of the sight-lines from any occupied areas around the nude pool and already seems prone to lurkers. While we were there problems occurred with unwelcome advances by staff (security staff of all people) and vinnies. There was also a problem with a guest at Point Village, who's room over looks this new building. This guy not only make odd remarks but had a camera.. I'm not sure why this location was chosen when a more open area is still available. At first I imagined that the old structure might be torn down, but it has since been renovated so I doubt things will change.

To bring things full circle we checked out on Saturday. Tried to do a delayed check-out figuring that the place would be empty for the following week but the front deck didn't want to hear it so we did the usual "room share" for a few hours till the 3 pm bus was ready. They must have planned in advance as we had a full size rig with all the comforts, TV, great sound system, 50 www people... what a way to go... till someone had to ask for a potty stop. Long story short.... everyone got off and took a break... more beers... more party... then on to the airport.... 2 1/2 hour flight delay... more beers... more party.... more nudity... more singing... and we finally got home to bed at near 3 am.... tired but content.

Sunday we sleep late and heard the local weather forecast...... 8 inches of snow on the way... wish we were still at Hedo!
