This was our first trip to Hedo and to any type of nude resort. All I can say is wow! We had a great time. Here is our stab at our first (but not last!) trip report.
Getting There and Back Air Jamaica
What started as a direct flight into MoBay from BWI with an 11:50 am arrival turned into a day at the airport at BWI. It started with a call from Air Jam Thursday night saying flight was delayed. Okay, disappointing but no problem Mon. Friends still came to stay with us Thursday night (we were closer to airport) and we woke up Friday and went to airport.
Flight was again delayed when we got there, but no one really knew what time it would leave. Air Jam staff at desk seemed not to care much about the situation and everyone in line got a different story. People were starting to get a bit ugly around 6 pm and we were treated to a few people flipping out at the gate. Not going to continue with all the details of this mess, but we finally got off the ground around 8:30 pm or so and we arrived at the resort around 1:30 am Saturday.
Hedo II and WWW
Check in is a breeze at 1:30 am. Paid for Nude Garden, upgraded to Nude Ocean. We were in the perfect location as far as I was concerned (rm 2268) close to hot tub, but not too close and near the beach path. Got a drink and Steve was already at the room with luggage. Dropped off clothes and off to hot tub where we met a lot of really nice WWW folks.
I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised with our room. From reading the board, I was expecting a step up from summer camp when it came to lodging. It wasnt the Ritz, but it was comfy. A bit dated, but everything worked in our room. We brought the Lysol and Steve removed the GROSS filter from Air Conditioner and cleaned it, but we only used it once in the early evening and kept it off and window opened rest of the trip. So far, no Hedo Crud. Water pressure was fine, but we did do the hot/cold dance quite often. Housekeeping kept our room very clean and were usually finished our room by the time we returned from breakfast.
Food was so-so, but was always able to find something to eat. Coffee excellent. We did eat at Japanese and Pastafaris. Enjoyed both, but it was too much work to make reservations and actually get to dinner at an appointed time!! Enjoyed the Beach Grill where we had lobster one day (bought from fishermen on beach) and regular fare rest of the time. We did get to try the jerk chicken, which was excellent.
We quickly fell into a routine. Up early, breakfast, Beach, A Dirty Banana right before lunch, Grill for lunch (unless lunchtime spin we wanted to see) afternoon recreation/nap, hot tub sometimes between 5 7 pm, dinner activity and hot tub again.
Beach was great. Enjoyed floating on our rafts and soaking up the sun. Hot tub was fun, but temp was inconsistent cold first few days lobster-cookin hot mid-week and perfect the last day we were there.
I participated in Wet T-shirt contest. First time I had EVER done anything like that (and you could tell!!) But it was an experience.
We loved Veronicas - this is a fun place! Also loved PJ night.
Participated in two extra activities while we were there. We went on the Magical Mystery Tour (bus) which was fun although I would never return to Margaritaville. Stops included Margaritaville, shops, Ricks Caf (those cliff jumpers are nuts) and Jennys for brownies. We went on night cruise which was umminteresting. Very erotic!
Helped stuff the stockings for the kids for Christmas. Everyone was very generous with the gifts that they brought from home and the stocking stuffers. At the welcome party on Sunday, gifts were piled high in the disco. Stockings were stuffed full with cool things for the kids.
During the week, we talked to a lot of people. We did not really hang around with any one group and we were usually parked on the beach. There were a lot of established groups within the WWW group, but no one made you feel unwelcome. We made an effort to meet as many people as we could. Next time, we will change up our beach routine a bit and get to know more about the people that make this resort great.
Highlights/Observations
Loved
Christmas Gift collection Great to be able to make a difference for a local family.
PJ Night This was my favorite event. Most everyone dressed in great PJs! Packed dance floor.
Getting up, walking out of room, eating and sunning without having to wear clothes. Hated to get dressed!
The staff of Hedo II Now I see why repeaters talk about them so much on the boards. Great personalities, great service and made trip fun.
Grounds at Hedo II Very clean. Beautiful plants and trees. Some of the more obscure hot tubs were very dirty though.
The people I know that everyone says this but it is so true. I have never seen so many people in one place in obviously happy relationships. I would say from my observation that 95% of the couples there were in a very secure, happy, loving relationship (very different than the real world) which was great to see.
Neutral
Towels. First few days, beach towels were left in our room and could always get at the dive shack. After that, a clean beach towel was very hard to come by. Were given directions from very nice WWW couple on where to find towels and after that no problem.
Prudes on the Nude. I didnt have an issue with say a prude couple strolling through the nude side once to see what it is all about. But for those who traveled in packs, those who expected to be able to stay and gawk or for those who chose to make this walk a daily part of their routine, not cool.
Hated
The few beautiful people who I heard/observed making comments about and giving dirty looks to some of the folks on the beach. Stay home or go to another resort if you cant be respectful to all people!
Some of the single guys in the hot tub that sat and stared and/or were a bit grabby. But no major problems security did end up dealing with one of them.
Toga instructions. Attention all newbies! DO NOT follow the toga tying instructions that were given by entertainment coordinators to tie Togas through the legs for the ladies. I ended up with a rather embarrassing Toga injury because of this!! Starting to feel a bit better today.
The liability release issue. Steve tripped and hurt his toe pretty bad on Friday. Let me tell you it is not soon come mon when it comes to liability forms. Steve had to fill out about four of these things for the different departments at Hedo II. Included numerous phone calls to our room (one at 7:45 am!) and security guard getting onto bus when we were leaving so he could fill out yet another duplicate form.
Lets close this very long trip report!
I have to say this was the best vacation I have ever been on! Never met a nicer group of people anywhere. Most every one was very friendly. We started to try to talk about when we could go back next by day two.
Although I did not want to name any specific people in this report, I want to thank Denny for the work he puts into this site and for giving us a forum to read about the resort, meet other people who go to Hedo and to really feel comfortable with our decision to go to Hedo II.
We will definitely be back and look forward to seeing everyone again! Thanks to all WWWs for making us feel welcome.
