Hmmm, how to start.
This was our 4th trip and our trip report has always be
written by our fellow May Slug. So,
I guess, since she couldnt make this trip, its left to me.
This trip was planned (on Sept 8th) as my 40th
birthday gift from Brett (my WONDERFUL husband). Now, had there not been an Air Jamaica sale and been pressed
to make a definite decision by that date we might not have gone and we would
have missed an incredible time. THANK GOODNESS FOR DEADLINES!
Our trip out of Newark to Montego Bay then Tim Air to
Negril was business as usual. We
at arrived at Hedo after the majority of the WWWers and therefore DID have
to wait for a room. However, due
to an upgrade requested by Dan Hill (for my bday) we got ocean front nude
overlooking the shuffleboard court. The
best part about the room was that during our past three visits that area of
the beach was known to us as Slugdom where we spend MANY MANY hours doing
nothing. As much as I LOVE H-block, it was great to be able to jump out of my
window to get Bretts forgotten shoes before dinner. (Did I mention that it
was the first floor!)
ANYWAY, we arrived around lunch time and were greeted by
Kris and Joe. They are some of
our fellow slugs, (WAIT theyre much more than that theyre good
friends and just happen to be fellow slugs) who had planned to come for the
Winter WWW and we planned our trip to be there with them (and Patty & Rupe
of course). At lunch we met Zilla,
Duck and Dennis who added so much to our trip I cannot even begin to describe.
I will ask now for the forgiveness of all of those that I do not mention, but
I SUCK with names and struggle all week to remember the few that I do. From this point on much of the week runs together.
The highlights are as follows:
First and foremost, meeting all the wonderful WWW folks.
Denny & Diane, youre two of the warmest people ever and made us
feel welcome right away.
One thing happened that surprised even me Kris and Brett set me up with
Dave so that I ended up performing on the piano to Piece by Piece in
Veronicas. Something I SWORE Id
never do, but..hey, its Hedo, and frankly Im glad I did it. (thanks
guys)
Dennis, you made being a single man at Hedo look easy, and I know its not.
As I told you when we were there, youre a nice man, and Im so
glad that we can call you friend. Oh,
and that goofy look on your face when you danced in your uniform will be one I
never forget. Oh yea, and wearing
that hat to the tub??? Too funny.
At least you were able to fulfill one of Kris fantasies.
Duck & Zilla, you are two of the most intelligent, quick-witted folks I
know! (yep.. you have me completely fooled!)
You still got it Duck! I
thoroughly enjoyed ALL of the time we spent together and I REALLY hope youll
join us in May!
Afternoons in the pool are always a highlight even though I felt a little tame
this year. However, I did dance
on the table in the pool with Kris (something I tend to scold Kris for) and
guess what Kris.. I even jumped out of the cold tub into the pool (at Marinas
insistence).. livin on the edge I guess.
Dinner in the cage (where the animals belong) with Duck, Zilla, Dennis, Hazel
& Jamie were always greatthen on to Veronicas then the Tub was a
nightly routine.
A group of us were trying to decide if we were going to attend the returnees
party, but didnt want to leave the pool to get dressed.
So we all decided to wear the latest designer trend.. a towel a la Rupe
(pronounced Rupe-A). We arrived
only to discover that we were not the only ones.. but that there were about 10
others that did the same. What a great idea.. cocktail party.. a few munchees
then off to shower and change for dinner.
It was a thrill to get to meet Chris and Doug.
You guys are just as cool as I thought you would be.
Doug, we enjoyed listening to your rendition of Hedonismville
everynight in Veronicas. (and thanks for taking my toga away as I took it
off Piece by Piece)
I must say a special thanks to Chris.
While in Hedo we got the, not unexpected, news that my brother had
succumbed to his battle with cancer. I
was in the ladies room near Veronicas washing my face during a mild
meltdown when Chris came out of the stall and asked what was wrong.
When I told her, she took me outside and sat with me, just listening
and talking until Brett came to find me.
She didnt need to do that, to take time from her vacation to worry
about a stranger, but she did, and I want to say thank you.
Joe, let me add, that you were also very supportive that night, and I meant to
say thank you all week but never got a chance. Kris, ever the little sister,
(and shot queen) made sure that we all did flaming Bob Marley shots that
night, in my brothers honor. I must say, my family thought that was great!
THANKS. Kris you ARE the
party girl! Wherever you go the
party follows. You know I love
you and Im there for you always! Joe..
you and me.. quiet but deadly!
Jamie & Hazel, it was great
spending time with you wish it could have been moreSorry it took me 3 days
to realize that you were THE Hazel. You guys were a lot of fun!
Dave & Debbilee thanks for organizing our adventurous trip over to
Bloody Bay for lobster. While
we were scared when we got off the
boat it was TRULY an adventure.. thanks for including us!
The construction was a slight nusiance. Although
some nights it felt more like a challenge.
Hmmm how do we sneak Denniss firefighter uniform up to the stage
w/out anyone seeing us??? Just go
THROUGH the construction in the DARK and try not to break your neck!
It will be interesting when its complete, but I could have done
without all the off-roading we did since one of the things Ive always
loved is a week w/out shoes!
Im mentioning the food here only because people always do.
We dont go hungry. Theres
always food to eat.. I LOVE grilled cheese and fries from Roberts and a
nice hearty bacon and egg breakfast. Other
than that its just to keep me going so the alcohol doesnt get the best
of me!
We hear ad nausium that Hedos about the people.
Well, add my vote. Theres nothing or no one like it. We could meet the same people at home and never exchange
glances much less hellos and naked body hugs.
Hedo equalizes everyone and everything.
Were just people who love to have fun and dont have to hide HOW
we like to have it.
Five nights is NEVER enough at Hedo, but as a bonus trip
this year it was great. Hedo is a
place that renews me and renews US. Brett
and I enjoy being who we are, and enjoy watching each other have fun both
together and a part. No
pressure.. just fun. We come home
more in love, with more of an appreciation of what we have and a whole lot
more relaxed. This report surely
doesnt put into proper words all of our feelings about this trip or its
people. It was great, you all are
great, the trip was great
THANKS DENNY for putting such a great group together.
Honestly, without your board, I dont know if I could have ever made my
first trip and its been a staple of my online time ever since!
( I know I know, Im a voyeur.. I dont post much..everyones
already said what I want to say)
