July 2001 WWW Trip Report

There are many things to love about Hedo, but one of the things I truly love is that Hedo can be whatever you want it or need it to be. If you want to go all out and party you can do it; if you want to hit the water sports and diving you can do it; or if you just want to vegetate and relax, you can do that too. This was my time for the last option, and it was nice just to go at my own pace, not feel like I had to do anything, and just reconstitute myself after a stressful few months.

Toward my last day, Denny asked whether I had a good time, and I gave him a sort of wishy-washy answer which was something to the effect that I was having a good time, but not a great time. A great time would have been if Id had someone to share it with. I think that is still true to a certain extent, but as I later thought about the trip I realized that I had pretty much accomplished what Id set out to do which was rest, relax, do nude tai chi, meet some new people, renew connections with folks from prior trips and put my head on straight for another few months until I can get away again.

Most of my days started early (yes, before 7 am!) and I was able to see Hedo at its most quiet and calm as I did tai chi on the tennis court. The beach and water are beautiful in the cool early morning, and in the quiet you can hear all the birds. Breakfast by 8:30 or so, and then to the pool and beach. For the most part I spent the days in and around the pool, did virtually no drinking (except rivers of water), ate very little (it was SO hot), read, chatted, or just hung out and took it all in. Of course, I couldnt miss the great WWW gals in the wet t-shirt contest, or the guys in Men in Motion. Toms stage dive will no doubt live on in WWW lore.

My nights ended early, with a bit of rest before dinner, and then typically bed by 10 or 11 pm. This trip did not find me at the PJ party, piano bar, disco, or midnight hot tub. But, you know what? Those things will be there next time and the great thing about Hedo is that you can make it what you want each time. And even though I felt a little like a wet blanket this time, I still had a good time when all was said and done. I came home feeling rested, and ready to face the world again.

No trip report would be complete without acknowledging some of the great people I met. Most everyone was wonderful, welcoming, friendly, and kind. Some of the couples Im very glad I met included:  Dave & Cory, Ed & Jeanie, Wendy & Jerry, Steve & Pam, Pink & Irish, Shelli & Chris, Chuck & Di, and Mike & Beth. It was also great to see Jerry & Edie again, and also Lance & Jessica, John & Ellen, Tom & Barb, Ro & Beth, Steph & Boomer, and of course Denny & Diane. As for you single folks, well, you rocked, and Im particularly glad to have met Melissa and Mierin what great gals! It was also great to meet Ken, and know that we share a love of big, drooling dogs. Richard was always the gentleman; and Steve, Ill see you around and it was wonderful to have you there too. Finally, Im honored to have spent some quality time with Baron on my last day.

So, thanks again to Denny & Diane and all the great WWWers who make Hedo so unique, enchanting, and, welladdictive. Guess Ill be back and Ill see you then.
