Brian & Deb (WWW2000 Winter)

Brian and Debs Trip Report---WWW Winter 2000

This was our third trip and we really needed it.  The anticipation was running rampant leading up to us getting there, but it was a bit different than the two other times we had gone before.  The first tripwell, we had the usual first trip euphoria.  With the second, it was more like OH BOY!!!  We cant believe that we are getting to go back! type of stuff.  With this one, we still had all kinds of pre-trip anticipation, but like I said before, it was different.  I think that maybe we were both too tired to get all worked up about it.

This is a trip we both really needed.  We had just had a baby in September.  In fact he was two months old when we got to Hedo and Deb was still on maternity leave from work so the timing for that was perfect.

Airport was no problem..total breeze.  Brian got a little bit worried though when our cab driver had to ask for directions to OHare.  Arent they already supposed to know that stuff?  LOL!!!  We made it with plenty of time to spare.  We changed our clothes in Chicago and the flight attendants chuckled at us when we got on the plane as we were ready and waiting to land in Jamaica and we were still in Chicago with 12 degrees outside.  J  Immigration also a total breeze, just like last year.  I thought it was going to be a bit slow because there were several planes landing at the same time. But not the case.I think ours was the first one or the other planes just werent full.  We were in and out of immigration in less than five minutes.  Baggage claim was funnyno one seemed to know which carousel our luggage would be coming out on.  Well..first glance told us that it wouldnt be the one that was broken.  LOL!!!  So everyone from our plane was standing around the one we thought it was going to be on, but then got sent down to the last carousel on the right.real close to customs.  YEA!!

So we spotted our luggage, and while Brian went to retrieve that I took our carry-ons and waited for him to bring our other two bags to race right through customs.  Way cool!!  We were so excited that we couldnt get one of the bags to roll right and it kept tipping over.  Who cares.I was traveling well this trip.  Usually I dont and I get all worked up about something, but not this time.  I think I am getting used to it.

We got to the Tim Air counter and got our five minute trip to the other end of the airport.  THANK GOODNESS!!!  Last year I had to hike in my super tall heels to get to Air Jamaica Express (no ride).  I was so grateful that I didnt have to do that again this year, even if I did get the seat that wasnt exactly screwed down in the van.  LOL!!!  We were supposed to meet Barb and Robert at the Tim Air counter, but the Tim Air crew was ready and had a plane all set to go so we had to take it otherwise they couldnt guarantee us a plane big enough to carry everyone.  So okay.tell them well meet them in the lobby.  So we hopped on the plane and off we went.  Actually it wasnt so bad being in a dinky little plane like that.

We landed at GNAT and were off to Hedo about 30 seconds later.  Check-in was so easy and Paul went to get us some Purple Rains after we got the welcome home hug..and as we were waiting for our room assignment.our buddy Denny wandered up to the lobby!  YEA!!!  Havent seen ya in a year!  Great big hug for the D-man!  All of five minutes later Barb and Robert got there.YEA!!!  More hugs, gee.you would think we had known everyone all our lives.  LOL!!!  Then five minutes after that we got our room assignment, 2139.  Right in the middle of H-block..we think we will request any room in H-block from now on!  We really liked the location a lot.

I dont really have a day-to-day plan of action with this trip report.  I will say that, being new parents, we did sleep A LOT!!  Our lack of sleep caught up with us and we didnt have too many late nights.  We were so much more relaxed this trip too than the other ones before.  We just kind of mellowed, and floated and drank and chatted with a few new friends and some old ones.  This was just the sort of trip we needed this time around.  Not having to worry about anything was very refreshing.

We did call home a few times to check on the baby.  Everything was always fine, except that we heard while we were gone that we had had a foot of snow all at once.  Wellwe were on the beach at Hedo so we didnt really care.  J

Deb did a lot of french fry eating at Roberts Grill again this year.  She just cant get enough of them.  Although, breakfast is by far our most favorite meal of the day, we did notice a slight decline in the quality of the food this time around.  The Scotch Bonnet is a great place to eat.we enjoyed dinner there one night with Barb and Robert.   I highly recommend it as an alternative to Pastafari or the main dinning room.  Pastafari was just okay this time, but still pretty good.  J

A word to the wise thoughladies, if you other halves do not know how to sail..DO NOT go out into the bay with them!  LOL!!!  I speak from experience here.  Brian does okay if I am not with him, but when I go too, well.it gets a little hairy.  I dont think I will sail with him again for a while, not because hes a bad sailer, but because he does so much better without me there.  This year, we got stuck out in the bay for a few hours, we couldnt get back in.  Of course the wind, which there was a lot of but for some reason our boat just wouldnt move, caught the sail and we were very quickly dumped in the water!  LOL!!!   Luckily for us (?) a Sandals boat floated by and got us back upright again and helped haul us out of the water.  We think they just wanted to see if us Hedo people sailed naked.  LOL!!!  We did, however, run into this nice man who was staying over at Beaches.  Or rather, he sailed by us on several occasions attempting to give us instructions on how to get our boat back to shore.  Finally he said to follow him over to back to Beaches and he would sail the boat back to Hedo for us.  LOL!!!  So we did just that.we actually got the boat going behind him and parked it on the Beaches beach.  So..life jackets in handwe trudged  back to Hedo laughing all the way about what we were going to tell the watersports guys about why exactly we didnt bring their boat back with us.

I entered the wet t-shirt contest Monday afternoon and had a better time at it than I thought I would.  Being that I was (and still am) breast feeding our son, it was a whole lot of fun showing off my new boobie tricks.  It took Diane and Barb to talk me into doing it.Brian had been trying all year with no luck.  Somehow its different when its someone other than your spouse or significant other suggesting that you do something.  LOL!!!

We snorkeled some, we sunned some, we ate A LOT!  Well, I did, I gained 12 pounds while we were there.  YIKES!!  Now add that to the baby weight that I am still taking off.   But if you cant have fun and enjoy things on your vacation that you wouldnt ordinarily enjoy, then why go on vacation.  I get to be a good girl all year long so I can go to Hedo and have french fries, burgers, and lots of that fattening stuff for breakfast!  J

Then came the day to go home again.  And we were ready to go.  Ready to get back to the grind, ready to see our son again.  We had just had the most fun, the most relaxing vacation we had ever had.  We cant wait to get back again next December.  See you all then!
