Bob & Val (WWW2000 Winter)

W.W.W. WINTER 2000

Our trip report will flow as our mind flows, sometimes in a defined order and other times off on its own.  We discovered the WWW group about a month prior to our trip to Hedo.  We can only say that it was one of the greatest discoveries online we have ever come upon.  Having traveled to Jamaica a number of times and planning our first stay at Hedonism, we were ready for a wonderful vacation.

Our flight from Toronto was very nice, slow getting going due to the extensive deicing that we had to go through. Once in the air, the cocktails were flowing and when we arrived in Montego Bay the weather was just as we had expected, nice and hot with blue skies.  On the ride to Hedo we got to know our first new friends from the group, Pete and Wanda.  They took the time to introduce us to others that they had been chatting with and helped to make our first impressions of the WWW group, as well as Hedonism, a great one (Wanda, thanks for helping Val out at the end of the week also!)

One amusing moment on the ride to Hedo came when a few locals ran up to the bus with some home grown items to sell.  A younger guy on the bus (who happened to be a police officer) said Wow that must be Jerk Chicken why dont we stop!  To the laughter of the others on the bus, one of his friends announced that this might explain why there is such a drug problem in the US!  Hopefully, after enjoying some of the great Jerk Chicken at Hedo, he can now tell the difference between the two items.

Once we arrived we were told that our rooms were not ready and to have a drink and get some lunch. After a short walk around the grounds to check out the facility and a taste of the lunch buffet, we were off to our room and the week was officially underway.  While on the subject of eating here is our review of the food and facilities at Hedo.  The breakfast meal was the best meal in the main dining area, the bacon was out of this world, so if youre a breakfast person this is the place to go and if you are not, give it a try they may convert you. As for lunch there is only one place to eat at Hedo. Roberts Grill at the Nude end of the compound (as far as we know that is the only end there is, but rumors have it that there is a Prude end also, but we cant help you out with that one, we never saw it). The well-done fries and the sandwiches were always great. Making the meal even more of a treat was the fact that it was always served with a smile and a good word.  Dinner varied from night to night, some better than others.  We ate at Pastafari and the Scotch Bonnet, both meals were nice but the best part of each was the company we shared the evenings with.  As far as our room, we enjoyed the limited time we were in it to the fullest (even though the upstairs neighbors were loud - J Jay and Em).

Our days had somewhat of a pattern to them. Get up and have some coffee and off to breakfast. After a good meal it was off to the beach for some sun and fun.  We ended up in the same area every day and got to watch the Hedo world come alive.  After some sun on the beach it was time to go out to the raft and join the others that we had come to know for more sun and great conversation.  Then it is off to Roberts for a great lunch.  A suggestion for lunch is to eat at either the swim up bar or at one of the tables near it.  In the afternoon we all ended up in the cool tub for more fun and companionship.  Stacey and Keith, thanks so much for bringing the Drink Island, it made life so much easier for bringing us a round of Vodka slushies. Some days Volleyball finished the afternoons events and made it possible to go home and say oh yes we exercised while on vacation.

Now it was off to the Hot Tub.  This is the place where the Swim Team was formed.  Our group of friends made it a point to gather there at the end of each day.  Many of the more memorable events took place during this time; Keith using Jerk Sauce in a way that will go down in Hedo history and the swim team going through its training ritual.  What a team it is, now thats an Olympic event that I bet everyone would watch. And who could forget Dickman emptying the tub in record time (boy that makes your skin crawl).

The evening events were always a lot of fun, especially with the WWW group adding an extra flare to them.  The welcome party put together by Denny and Diane provided us with a chance to get to know others that we had seen online and to spend some additional time with the people we had already become friends with. At this point it is time to acknowledge the world class effort that Denny and Diane put into making this group of people a reality.  They provided a feeling of friendship to everyone they encountered. When we first discovered Dennys site we saw the page telling about the Christmas gifts and at that moment knew that this is the type of people that we would enjoy being around.

The Catamaran trip was a blast. (Jay, too bad we thought of swimming over to the glass bottom boat too late)  To all that jumped from the cliff, great job!   The Jello shots were another sign of just how well prepared the WWW people can be. (GO TEXAS)  And back to Denny and Diane, who else could have scheduled a freshwater rinse just prior to docking. (For those who have had rain while at Hedo, this week received a grand total of 10 minutes of rain and that occurred as the boat was preparing to dock at the end of the catamaran trip)

Too all of our new friends, we will remember this trip for many years to come. Pete and Wanda, Stacey and Keith, Ollie and Linda, Les and Trudy, Scott and Debbie, and Jay and Em.  What a team! Also to all of the other people that we had the pleasure of meeting and spending some time with, thank you for making this a trip worth repeating.

Some of our fondest memories (being mentioned without association to any specific persons name just to keep others guessing).  Jerk sauce uses!  Viewing the energizer bunny couple.  Dinner at Pastafari with desert in our room (by far the best desert on the island).   Special placement of glow sticks after dinner.  Drink after drink made to perfection by Scumba and Delroy.  Afternoon naps J.  Enjoying many laughs in the Piano Bar.  Dancing at the PJ party.  Late night visit to the swim up bar with good friends.  Plates of fries out on the floating dock.  Watching milk and cookies being enjoyed at the Wet T-shirt contest (sorry, I said no names, but it was Denny J). The body painting session, the latex one, not the beach one.

We could go on for some time with this report but we will end it now.  The best thing for those that are reading these trip reports and have not yet enjoyed Hedonism with the WWW group, is to sign up and experience the fun and friendship that we all have experienced.
