Denny's WWW1998 Mini-Reunion Report - 8/98

It seems like it has only been a month since I completed my last trip report on our Hedonism II WWW visit. By George - it actually has been a month, damn!

A couple of weeks ago Mike posted a note on the WWW message board. He suggested a reunion in the Virginia area where he and Linda live. Plans were to go out on the Potomac for a nude cruise in honor of our Hedonism II trip. That was enough of an incentive to quickly gather a few of us together for this trip. With Sharon's help (she lives in Maryland just outside of DC), we hooked up with Lance & Jessica (they live in Virginia). I think that Mike initially may have been posting his note with "tongue in cheek". Boy was he surprised when he got several emails and phone messages saying, "we'll be right over"! I cashed in a frequent flyer ticket and scheduled a flight out to join the party.

I arrived at the DCA airport, jumped on the Metro, and in an hour or so was being picked up by Sharon. She prepared a tasty dinner for us. That evening we drove out to Mike and Linda's for the evening. We met John and Susan, friends of Mike and Linda, and had a congenial evening of food, drinks, talk, and laughter. We looked at our Hedonism II pictures. (Mike, get your film developed!) We got up the next morning and drove to the marina where we met with Lance & Jessica.

Mike and Linda were a fine crew on a great boat. We were soon speeding along on the Potomac River. We enjoyed the scenery and the view of the mansions along the river. The water wasn't too choppy and the weather was close to ideal. The boat was heavily provisioned with all the food and drink that we could handle. The six friends enjoyed their camaraderie and companionship.

After cruising down river for a while, we reached an area where we shut down the engines and just floated. Soon the swimsuits came off. Sandwiches were prepared and eaten and several cans of adult beverages were drained. A few of us jumped in the water and enjoyed the cooling off. (Sharon, we kept telling you that there were no sharks and no jellyfish :-) !) After swimming, talking, and drinking, we started back. While still nude, we were passed by a few boats (including the Coast Guard) and caused a few turned heads, some waves, and a lot of smiles.

Before reaching the marina, the big inner tube came out. Sharon and I were the only ones to attempt some tubing. Sharon went first and did a great job as described in Captain Mikey's trip report. I went next and elected to ride on my stomach wanting to keep my center of gravity as low as possible. The first run wasn't very long or very pretty - I fell off very unceremoniously. I was able to figure out that I could use my toes in the water as a rudder and by adjusting the spread of my legs, I could somewhat control the side to side movement of the tube. That allowed me to avoid the larger parts of the wake. My second ride was much better and more comfortable. I had to finally give the signal to stop when I lost just about all the feeling in my upper body.

After retrieving and securing the tube, we headed back into port. We buttoned up the boat and headed over to Lance and Jessica's for the evening. We listened to music, had Chinese delivered for dinner, drank from their vast stock of liquor, and again shared our pictures. Lance and Jessica had some interesting ones. :-) Many amusing stories were exchanged. I did vow never to repeat any of them. My highlight had to be the massage that Sharon gave me on the family room rug. It really helped to relax the muscles that were sore from the tubing. I'd have loved it even if I wasn't sore! We all spent a comfortable night at their house and rested up from our exciting day.

The next morning Sharon & I parted company from Lance, Jessica, Mike and Linda. Leaving was difficult, but we all knew that we were going to be together again sometime in the future. We headed for Baltimore to spend the rest of the day. We had a great time in the harbor area. We took the water taxi and ventured out into many of the little shops and bars around the harbor. We caught the last water taxi back to the main harbor. The Hyatt Hotel had some outside elevators that beckoned us to ride them up and down, and up and down, and up and down ... :-) We met a few people on our excursion and shared some comments with them. Then it was back to the car for the trip back to Sharon's. Due to my excellent navigation and Sharon's top notch driving skills, we quickly made our way back to her house via the back roads. All in a drizzle and with one and a half head lights.

The next day was spent doing some repair and tune up to Sharon's PC. Nothing major - just a tweak here and a clean up there. A few annoying problems were resolved. I, of course, left a couple of problems behind so that I'd be invited back another time to fix them. I'm not a dumb as I look! :-) All too soon, it was time to head back to the airport. Sharon dropped me off at the Metro station where I departed with misty eyes and fond memories.

My trip back to Omaha was uneventful. Nevertheless, it was full of thoughts of five wonderful friends and our great times together. It was also filled with daydreams of future meetings. This world is very large, but friends will always find a way to remain close - at least in thought and spirit, if not in actual distance.
