Hi all,

I'm looking at going to Costa Rica for my 30th birthday with a few mates, basically with the view of having a really different holiday and doing some activity type events.

Anyway the kind of things we are looking at would be sky diving (as a definite we want to do), rafting, bungee jumping etc... you probably get the picture.

Given it is a 30th birthday for 2 of us on the trip we also want to have some really good nights out when we are there, thinking great meals and then bars until the early morning!

And lastly given the fact the country seems so have so much natural beauty there we're obviously really interested in a couple great day trips into the jungle, or to see the volcanoes etc.

One of my mates is a teacher so we will be packing everything into a week in his half term. Any tips on what we should or shouldn't do, where we should be based on the island etc?

Or even whether somewhere else may be a better trip for what we are looking for - something different, fun, and exciting.

Any help much appreciated. Cheers

If you are going to see the volcano (Arenal) I would commit to staying in the area for more than a day trip. The view of the volcano during the day can be obscured by weather (we had perfect weather for 3 days when we were there and were told that it was very unusual).

I would also suggest staying the night in the area so that you can see the lava at night.

BTW, this old fat guy discovered that what "eco-tourism" really means is "walk your a** off". We did several hikes (e.g. into the old volcano field, to the bottom of the waterfall, over a bunch of bridges) of the few vacations I actually lost weight on...but really enjoyed it.

Can't comment on anything else because we just did a short trip and stayed in one area.

If you're up by Arenal Volcano, definitely check out the zipline tour that takes you up to the starting line via a gondola. You zip back and forth across a deep canyon. I believe they said we were getting up to 40 mph on some legs. Quite an adrenalin rush!

Here's the link: Sky Tram-Sky Trek Zipline

Yes "martincruise" the services are proper and fully secured there. I have visited there 1 years ago with my friends. We were really enjoyed sky diving in grouping. No doubt everything is there so inviting and comfortable...I often missed that moments of life.
