Hi Everyone. We were down May 20-29th and stayed in 2172, the first hottub room closest to the nudepool. I'd be happy to answer any questions about the current state of the resort or about the hottub rooms.

I am curious about the continued progress of the installation of the new room A/C units. Are all the rooms done now? If not, what areas of rooms should we avoid? I simply have to have my A/C working at Hedo! If I don't get any sleep I do not want that to be the reason! smile

Thanks for any updated info on this.

The below message I just received today from Mr. Gary Williams:

"Dear Harold,

Thanks for the information.

We have installed one hundred and ninety room units. The remaining ninety will be installed by the middle of July. The piano bar A/C is scheduled for completion by June 26th. The complaints that I am getting is that the disco
is now too cold.

See you during Halloween.

Regards,

Gary Williams
VP Operations"

I e-mailed him back thanking him for taking care of our favorite place on earth. I also told him it can't possibly be too coold in the disco if you like to dance a lot - like we do. Hope this info helps everyone.

The cat cruise to the Pickled Parrot (not called that anymore) goes on Tuesdays and Saturdays. The A/C was working very poorly if at all in the Piano Bar the first couple of weeks of May. Ike still plays a couple of nights.

They were still doing installations in some of the rooms while we were there. Most everyone we talked to had new A/C units so I'm guessing they are putting people in those rooms first. Our new unit worked very well but we did not have a remote. It would be nice if you could stop the oscillation and just keep it blowing on the ceiling and not on the bed.

From what we were told, the resort was at about 65% capacity from May 20-26th and dropped down below 50% for Memorial Day weekend.

Ike did play a few nights we were there. I agree he is great. The A/C seemed to be working great in the pianobar and in Pastafari.

We made it out to Appleton this time. A 2 hour ride on the bumpiest road we've ever been on. I'd say it would be worth it if you were staying at White House but its just too far from Hedo and the ride is far from pleasant. We did get to see alot of the countryside which was obviously eye opening. We saw families bathing and washing their clothes in the river. We even saw a TINY internet cafe in the middle of nowhere which made us laugh.

Pafun I don't know how we didn't meet. Our paths must just not have crossed when we were all coherent.

The sliding glass door to our hottub would not lock for the first two days we were there. We had to call maintenance several times to get it fixed. Then it wouldn't slide so we had to get them out once more. The hottub room two doors down from us was broken into one night. A camera was taken but there was a pair of shorts with $125 that was not touched. Nothing was taken from the safe. The sliding door had been pried open with a screwdriver. From that point on we made sure to leave the tv on in the room and the curtains closed.

We hope to make our sixth trip soon but I do have a question about the hot tub rooms, yours in particular. When I make our next booking, can I specifically request that room 2172? We're usually at the nude pool all day and that would be mucho convenient for us. Or do I just book a hot tub room and hope for the best? Was that room quiet or noisy at night? (Not that it really matters to us since we will be at our favorite place in the world.) Thanks!

You can certainly let your TA know which room you prefer (we've liked 2171 quite a bit!!). And upon check in let them know that you would like one of the hot tub rooms near the nude pool. We've been lucky with getting the one we wanted twice in November (and it's a busy time).

We didn't find the room overly noisy at all in the evening...except, of course, all the people jumping into our tub at odd hours!!

Have a wonderful trip Candyvette...we're so jealous!!

Hi Candy, we booked a nudehottub room via DennyP. We did not request that room in particular. But the couple next to us did request their particular room. The room was given away by mistake and that couple was moved to another room once the mistake was noticed.
We didn't find that room to be noisy at all. But the new A/C units are loud enough to drown out most any noise you might hear.

Sticky we made friends with a couple who had never been to Hedo before. They were staying on the prudeside and they told us that people were still goingnude on their side. I don't think it was officially changed though.

I don't know if our DIF was worse before we left or after we got back. I think it might be worse when you get home. Of course that might just be dreading going back to work.

Have they installed a fan in front of the piano bar yet?

Is their more than one fish in the tank in the piano bar?

Have they lowered the volume on the speakers in the dinning room during meals?

Is the (promised) new sound system installed at the nude beach yet?

I did not see a fan in the front of the piano bar.
There is just the one fish tank that separates the main room from that small room on the side.
Yes the volume of the dinner music was perfect for conversation. Once the nightly shows started it got a bit louder.
No the sound system was not upgraded. It kept shutting off from overheating. And they played the same 2 or 3 CD's that they played last year.

Oh yeah, for those of you who know and love Alvern, the server in Pastafari, he has taken a leave of absence to spend some time in the United States. We were very excited for Alvern. He's an excellent server and a helluva nice guy!

The new A/C units will put frost on your pumpkin if you set the thermostat low enough. One hint that I didn't learn until two nights before I had to come home ... switch the thermostat off of "Automatic" and onto Low, Medium or High. On "Automatic" the unit goes on and off all day/all night. A sudden blast of cold air tends to wake you up in the middle of the night a few times!

The new AC units blow air directly onto the bed. We didn't like this so we opened the front cover and hung a hand-towel to block the air from blowing on the bed.

Yes, they will frost the windows if you leave it on high with the thermostat set low. Last week they were talking of closing H-block to do room renovations.

How clean are these new machines; will they collect and spread the hedo crud like the old units?
No more need for Lysol spray would be great! (Although Chris might have to rewrite parts of her book...)

No, he wasn't pulling anybody's leg. But go ahead and don't shave; it shouldn't be too embarrassing for you.

25% are completely shaved,
75% are somewhat shaved,
15% are just trimmed,
17% are shaving just facial hair,
10% are not shaving at all.

(Above is in Jamaican percentages, therfore the total is greater than 100% in USA percentage.)

Thanks for the info on the Jacuzzi rooms AC. Since we have booked a Jacuzzi room. We just love the Jacuzzi room worth every penny. We especially like the ones on the prude side.

We'll be going for the first time in November for our honeymoon and have a prude hotel room. Just wondering why those are preferred?

It is quiet at night over in that area, so quiet you can hear the bed springs squeaking, the women moaning, the men grunting and the Shagettes begging for more.

It is also less expensive.

Lewis and Alice, please make sure you leave your tv and lights on when you are not in the jacuzzi room to deter possible intruders. The room two doors down from ours was broken into while the couple was at the disco. The locks on the sliding glass doors do not work very well. We had ours replaced (after several calls to the front desk) and it still didn't seem very tough to break into. The doors are on backwards so you can't even put a broomstick in the track to stop the door from opening. I had read about this happening on this message board so we had the tv and lights on at all times and I put a chair in front of the sliding door at night while we slept. It wouldn't stop someone from breaking in but moving that chair would have made alot of noise.

The way to avoid worrying about a breakin is to not take anything down there that you would miss should it disappear. Keep money and documents in the safe.

As for Lewis leaving the lights and TV on all night, that is not a problem, that is the norm for him as most of his Hedo friends now know.

Respect,

Well Bob, that may work for you, but alot of us like to bring things with us that we would miss if they were to disappear. We're not going to let thieves dictate what we bring with us on vacation. Not to mention break-ins do occur while people are sleeping as well. We both would be sad if either us were to disappear. Unfortunately neither of us fits in the safe.
