Hello all you beautiful people! Wife (39) and I (45) are brand new to the lifestyle (and Hedo). We are scheduled for a trip the first week of August this year for our 15 year wedding anniversary. We have read Chris' book (loved it, if you read this Chris!) Same old story. We signed up to travel to Hedo with the understanding that it was a "clothing optional" resort. We even booked nude side (when in Hedo, why not). We have been to Jamaica countless times, and had heard rumors Hedo, but chocked most of it up to gossip and exaggeration. Boy were we surprised when we found out what was meant by "the lifestyle." We had always talked about the potential of opening up our relationship one day, and needless to say, the excitement of actually being booked at the resort really got those conversations going. We started looking into the local lifestyle scene at home, and are scheduled for a hotel takeover in a couple weeks, but enough about that. As complete newbs going to Hedo, is there a thread on the forums in regards to first timers? Good sources of information? As I said, we have read the book, but are hungry and greedy for anything we can research before hand. The first couple we met locally compared vanillas going to Hedo to throwing a toddler in the pool at the Olympics We certainly know we will both be wearing that look of shock and fear on our faces when we first arrive, but figure the more knowledgeable we become before arriving, the better prepared we might be. Then again, it might not make any difference at all! We just don't want to offend or be out of line in our actions (or inaction, if that makes sense). What is something you wish you knew the first time you went to Hedo? Any information or direction that you wonderful people could provide would be most appreciated. Thank you for reading the rambling post, and look forward to browsing through the trip reports (which are great, by the way!)

Thanks for your kind words about my travel/humor book! I betcha if you ask questions, you'll get great answers here--the crowd are a lot of long-time guests. I can't add anything off hand b/c I already wrote it in the book and I'd be repeating myself...grin!

What is something you wish you knew the first time you went to Hedo? Everything in moderation. Remember the title of that movie that won the Academy Award recently? "Everything, Everywhere, All At Once". I suspect that may be the mindset for some people who go to Hedo for the first time. Whatever your indulgence -- alcohol, weed, sex -- less is more; go for quality over quantity. After all, that's one reason why so many of us return -- to either try something we didn't get a chance to do last time or repeat a pleasurable experience from a previous visit. Overdo it and you might have a suboptimal vacation.

I wish I knew and appreciated the value of nudism the first time I went to Hedo. I didn't even know there was a nude beach (I'm not an explorer by nature).

Loversoffun...first off great name, and you have received some great advice regarding your virgin trip (ours 1992) to the zoo. Your ages are quite similar to ours during our virgin trip to Hedo. Pacing yourselves is key, in whatever delight you choose to indulge in. After all...it is the land of seeking pleasure. I hope you have the most fantastic trip you both could ever imagine! Peace and Love.

There's quite a bit of good info in many of the trip reports here on Denny's site: https://dennyp.com/HIITripReports/HedonismTripReports.htmIn general, we've found the guests (and staff) at H2 to be very sociable and easygoing. There are folks there of all persuasions... vanilla, L/S, kink, and most everything in between. The vibe tends to vary week to week. If you go with a pleasant, easygoing attitude you can't go too far wrong. The occasional unpopular behavior we've seen has typically been the few folks that are overly aggressive, or otherwise socially inept. Those have been pretty rare though. Late summers tend to be less busy. The times we've gone in August/Sept, the occupancy has been at or below 50%. (We tend to like that, since things are more relaxed and the facilities are uncrowded.

I'll second the suggestion to scour the trip reports. Especially the ones that say "First Timers" or "Virgin Trip."
Also, focus on the trip reports from the most recent five to ten years, as there have been a LOT of changes prior to that era, and the older ones might not be all that accurate anymore.
Have a great first (of many!) trip!

After all, that's one reason why so many of us return -- to either try something we didn't get a chance to do last time or repeat a pleasurable experience from a previous visit. Overdo it and you might have a suboptimal vacation. This is such great advice. We rarely drink to excess (we both hate hangovers and the wasted time they cause on vacation), but can both consume enough weed to take down your average elephant and still function like nothing has changed! The sex, well, that would be our main reason for going, but we are doubtful that we are going to meet anyone with whom we would be that comfortable with in such a short period of time to share our time with. We hope to be pleasantly surprised, but aren't holding our breath. The exclusivity of groups and cliques at most events we have attended (not at Hedo, just lifestyle in general) have kind of tempered our expectations within the lifestyle. Not meant to be negative, just an observation from someone just starting out on our journey.
