Now that Dion as moved on, any recent visitors have any comments on the piano bar activities. We'll be there in about 65 days and are curious who replaced him. It was one of our fav events at H2.

They usually use Michael the keyboard guy from the band. Theres an occasional guy they'll bring in to test out. I suspect it will be in flux for a while.

Oh, if they could only convince Lenworth (Ultimate) to return.

Ostensibly, Lenworth left b/c the smoke was too thick and hurt his eyes...natch, could've been more to it. Now smoking is no longer allowed in the piano bar. I'd be so excited if he even came by once a week that I'd tinkle in my panties if I were wearing them. Shall we all write to Harry at harrylange@hedonism.com to encourage rehiring Lenworth (Ultimate) Brown--from over at Couples Swept Away?

Has Harry even seen Lenworth perform?

If not, an effort should be made to get Harry to Couples Swept Away to see him perform.

I think that if he saw him in action, it would be much more of a convincing argument than just us old folks saying how good he is.

Harry knows about Lenworth...And I'm of the strong opinion (so what else is new?) that if lots of people wrote to Harry asking to hire Lenworth, they could make a difference.

When was Lenworth last at H2, I don't seem to remember him.

Lenworth "Ultimate" Brown left in the mid-1990s....Dave Richards was the pianist till he left in Jan. 2004. Gossip says he died since. And a couple years after Dave, Deon started with his g'friend singing alongside, and he had a stroke--what? about 5 years ago--but rehabilitated after a year or two (?) and came back until he died this year.

Ultimate was fun beyond words (name that tune games, for example)...could play BoRap too...unlike all the resort's players since...He could switch which key he was playing in to match your voice. He's a Juilliard-trained pianist.

A musician who can't take a little cigarette smoke is in the wrong profession. I'm sure there was more to it than that.

Yes, there was more to it...Ultimate had a serious eye condition and his doc said the smoke could make him go blind.

I thought that was the story with why Robert left the nude grill............... was it the same with Lenworth??

I was once told that if I didn't stop doing something I'd go blind. I didn't stop; I'm not blind but I'm wearing eyeglasses (progressive lens bifocals, for those of you keeping score).

Didn't know that re: Robert! I'm reporting the gossip from mid-1990s...It may or may not have come from Ultimate himself. I'll go ask him and if he responds will get back with an answer!

Just heard from Lenworth re: his reason for leaving Hedo: he wrote me: "I had to undergo two operations to remove Pterygium from my eyes. The Opthalmologist informed me that the smoke did not cause the problem however it aggravated it and my eyes were trying to protect itself."

By the time Hedo made the piano bar no smoking (they wouldn't do it when he asked while still working there), Len already had other commitments. Len says he's friends with Harry and many past Hedo2 managers. He knew Deon well and respected him greatly.
