We are thinking about returning to Hedo this fall, and are curious about mask requirements there. Are they required everywhere? Pool, hottub, beach? Or just the dining rooms and piano bar?

Currently (they will likely change by fall) you have to wear them in the airport and on the transportation to/from the resort, the resort lobby, gift shop, restaurants until seated. Hopefully some recent visitors will report on other areas. You never had to wear them in the pool, hot tub or beach.

If you travel off the resort, they are supposed to be worn in public areas.

I agree with Denny's points - I'll just add that at this point (assuming you're vax'ed): your mask is protecting the staff (and other Jamaican's if you leave the resort). Vaccines are only trickling into the island so our adopted "family" depends on us to help keep them safe. . . the Piano Bar is the most risky, closely followed by Pastafari for the staff to be infected. Again, respect the staff.

Thanks Denny and Charlie for your responses. Just to clarify, my question is in no way challenging or pushing the rules, but simply to better understand the requirements so that we can properly plan and comply. Safety for everyone is our top priority. Thanks again

Just be prepared for changes in one way or another by the time you travel. As I get new/updated in formation, I will post it on the COVID-19 Travel Information Page on my web site.

We were at both Hedo and Couples Negril in the past 10 days.

At Hedo, guests pretty much didn't wear masks at all. The only exceptions were on check-in and the gift shop. We did not go into the piano bar. On our one dinner at Pastafari, we wore masks to be seated, but when we sat down there were no other mask-wearers (and it was pretty full). Nobody wore masks at Flame or in the main restaurant, for any meal. As Denny noted above, there were no masks on the beach or in the hot tub/pool area. Probably redundant, but no six feet of separation, either. The Hedo employees consistently wore masks which I appreciate. We've been vaccinated, and were not concerned, although we did (by our choice) mostly stay to ourselves (we were not there with a group).

Couples was somewhat more stringent. Guests wore masks while being seated at all restaurants (even the outdoor grill), and there was more hand sanitizing. When people left restaurants, they re-masked. Same if they got up to get another helping or dessert. But no guests wore masks on the beach or pool area, or when ordering at the grill bar, pool bar, or a/n bar.

I just got back yesterday and here's the way i saw it. The staff wore masks, properly or not. Some guests did at the dining areas. The gift shop, nurses station, and dispensary asked you to. I think that even there they are getting "pandemic fatigue".
