The resort's cancellation waiver program is ending effective May 31, 2021. More details are available here.

Book before then to take advantage of it. Request your quote through the link in the signature area below.

All cancellation waivers already purchased still remain in effect.

At least they had the courtesy to wait till covid was more in its tail end in the USA...but geesh! Hedo is certainly tightening up on its past kindnesses to regular guests. A shame. Old days you just asked for a favor re: dates and often got it.

IMO it adds to the insult even if Hedo becomes more like other hotels. One of the reasons Hedo was so wonderful was that it wasn't like other resorts. Sigh! Then of course, we don't have the art auction anymore either...

Chris

My thought is that even though the cancellation waiver premiums were 100% profit to them, the back office work needed to track and handle the waiver was putting a lot of work on the backs of a lot of people at a time when they are looking for cost reductions.

I know it added a lot of work on my end to track it all especially though multiple cancellations and rebookings. Sometimes the waiver was included in promotions which had to be tracked separately than paid waivers. But I did let the resort know that I thought it was a mistake to end it as I didn't mind the extra work to provide some peace of mind to my clients.

As someone who just used my waiver earlier this week when we had to leave early, I can say it was very nice to have.

The resort bent over backward to get our Covid test done and results in writing within 30 minutes when it normally takes a few hours. The resort rescheduled my JTL transfer with one phone call and the bus picked us up about 30 minutes later.

Not resort related, but Delta airlines did us some real favors. We called them while in the shuttle bus and they let us reschedule our flights at no cost. Then when we got to Atlanta, they let us split up so my wife could go to her family and I could go to our original destination. Again, no charge.

To clarify, if you have the waiver and have to leave early for any reason, the waiver covers the value of unused nights and lets you reuse those funds for up to a year. It's not only for cancelling before the trip begins.
