Hi all! New to Hedo and to WWW. Just wondering the best balance of cash and credit, etc. to bring. I plan to take some advantage of hedo weedo of course. I haven't traveled out of the USA for many years. Also, any advice for indoor tanning for parts that have never seen the sun? Lotions, time, frequency, etc. Thanks all! I can't wait for this vacation, my first clothing optional, and meeting all of you great people.

HedoWeedo is US cash only; You'll need small bills (1's, 5's, 10s) if you intend to tip (discreetly if you do); Assuming you'll be there only a week or so you won't have any need for JA cash. Everything you buy at the resort can be charged to your room and pay with credit card before you leave.
No info on indoor tanning stuff. Sorry.

These days it seems to me that a share of the guests (including myself) don't pre-tan nor do they specifically lay out and tan while at Hedo. The sun is strong in the Caribbean. Hats are common among guests. The beach has lots of shade from all the trees if you need it...and lots of sun if you don't.

In the airport they may ask you to buy Jamaican dollars--just say no thanks. You won't need it. For one person, I'd bring $300 in $1, $5, $10, $20 denominations and charge the rest.

Chris

Welcome to the group, Kyle! We usually bring about $300 in US cash, in small bills and return home with most of it. There is no need for Jamaican dollars at the airport or resort. The gift shop, where you'll buy your SPF 30 and a t-shirt, will charge to your room or take take cash/credit cards. Sounds like the ganja shop takes only cash. Tipping at the resort is not allowed and employees can be fired if caught accepting one. I always am polite to everyone who serves me and always wait my turn for a drink and call them by name and say a sincere thank you to them. I find that I am never not served quickly.

I don't tan beforehand and don't really have any problems. However, I am either under the big tree in front of the bar or in the nude pool all day. I put on sunscreen all over when I first go to the beach and usually hit the face and shoulders again during the day. Don't forget the boys down below-it hurts like heck if they get sunburned!

I look forward to meeting you!

Jim

I travel as a single male and I agree, $300 US in small bills is about right; not just at the resort but for most shops in Jamaica (although they may need to give change in Ja. so once again, small bills).
A note about the airport though: There has been a problem with credit card scams so cash might be the best bet there.

All in all, I'd rather be a hippy.

Kyle, Are you going on this summer's WWW trip, or the one in December? I've never been to Jamaica in the summer, but I can tell you that the weather in December is perfect. Sometimes there's a quick shower in the afternoon. When you see the clouds coming in, get close to the nude bar from the beach side or pool side. It is prime real estate and people will all huddle in to avoid the rain. It makes it easy and fun to make new friends!

It sure does, Kyle! And you get to help pretty ladies get their drinks ordered - you know, its the gentlemanly things that everybody loves. :-) Have fun on your trip, I'll buy the drinks if we ever meet on a December trip.

My wife and I have been numerous times and will gladly answer any other questions you may have. I wrote a couple of trip reports over the years that are posted here. There is one from 2018 and another from 2007.

I'm sure I'll be like most and once per year won't be enough so I'll take you up on that drink then. I think I've read those trip reports. Thanks for the kind words and help.

Welcome Kyle...to the "zoo"! It's a nickname that many Jamaicans use for folks headed to hedo. You have received fantastic advise from all the folks here.
I would only add one thing...pace yourself on day one. Too much sun, ganga and drink will make for a not so good day 2 or 3. Have a fantastic time, we've been a couple of times in June, can be a likkle humid.

Thanks Roy. I'm not a big smoker but, when in Rome... I am planning to drink water between real drinks within reason. Planning to do some of site stuff too so I'm definitely fine pace myself. I don't wasnt to miss out on the fun with the rest of the zoo or the other activities.

Hey Kyle...when I said pace yourself, it was because I didn't our first trip in 92'. I was young, strong and athletic...basically the typical male, thinking I was invincible. After 46 trips I've learned. Remember the story of the two bulls, one young the other old standing on a ridge overlooking a bunch of gals. The young bull let's run down there and screw one of the gals. The old bull said, let's walk down there and screw all the gals!! The moral of the story...have fun brother, be open, be kind and you'll have a blast!! Have a wonderful trip Kyle!!

Of course, at Hedo it's the Gals who decide who rules the roost and who gets screwed. . .

Bring lip balm with sunscreen. And a little umbrella is nice to have, in addition to the large one that most rooms have... just in case there's a little rain now and then.

I appreciate the advice. I've had my time as the running bull. I'm not as young or as strong as i once was either. I'm truly just going for a new experience. I'm past the party till you puke phase. Lol. I am the old bull in more ways than one. Hope to meet you one day.

Not really concerned with getting laid. Not really my style since my 20's. Just looking to step outside my comfort zone with non judgemental people and enjoy the wonderful people and Caribbean.

Thanks Chris. I'll originally forego the umbrella for the pushin trees though. If I'm in the pool, I'm not worried about getting wet. Lol

Thanks Chris. I'll probably forego the umbrella for the palm trees though. If I'm in the pool, I'm not worried about getting wet. Lol

Kyle, you sound like the ideal person to go to Hedo...I suspect you'll get a kick out of it.

The umbrella gives you the option of being a gentleman and escorting folks to the bar or elsewhere, in case of a downpour. We've gotten grift from the ECs in past years for giving them a towel during a shower. So an umbrella can mean the difference between being another guest vs. "the guy who was prepared".... wink

I use at least SPF 50 on the boys when I go with May sun. Never had a problem in that region. I've gotten burned lots of other places. Paranoia probably explains that result. I also try to be in the shade (which is normally not a problem to find).
