We were at H2 from Oct. 30 to Nov. 8 and know a lot of people who were there got Covid after they returned and one friend has been in & out of the hospital twice. Luckily we didn't get it. However a work colleague (we don't work together or in the same place) went to Jamaica the next day and stayed at a resort near Rose Hall in Montego Bay and out of 16 people in his group 15 came down with Covid after they returned. He flew down the day after us and out of a different airport. The one thing everyone has in common was waiting in the long lines at MBJ airport before seeing the Medical Clearance people. We even had Club MoBay but you still had to wait in line, our wait was over 40 minutes in the hallway before customs area with no social distancing happening.

Great seeing you folks there! Very interesting info. For us, the most likely time that we were exposed was right around the time we arrived at H2 +/- a day or so. We stayed a good distance from everyone at MBJ, and were (of course) masked there, on the plane & in our taxi to H2. Since everyone else at MBJ was also masked, I'd guess it's most likely that we were exposed the first day we arrived at H2, since that's really the only place that we were in close proximity with anyone in public over the past bunch of months without masks. We chatted for a bit with at least 3 people that first day, who later tested positive at home.

Hard to pin down any real specific instances for exposure though. Could have been some freak thing just before we left home, or at H2 passing near people in the dining room, or being within a few feet of folks at the bars. We avoided any of the crowds pretty much the whole time.... Stayed a reasonable distance from other random guests and avoided the nude pool area, which looked like a super-spreader event waiting to happen.

I wonder if the other resort that your colleague stayed at had groups of un-masked folks in close proximity. If so, that might be the culprit. Anyhoo, hope everyone is doing ok! It's been an interesting learning experience for sure.

I know several people who visited Phoenix this month and tested positive when they returned home.

"Several" out of how many? Compared to the recent experience we had at Hedo: 13 out of 19. My guess is that the positivity rate from H2 recently is way higher than most any other destination. (Indeed, that stands to reason, given the close contact that so many guests enjoy there.) As you correctly said before Denny....

"Details on the source of the numbers are needed, otherwise this is in the category of a rumor."

It was 5 out of 5 who visited Phoenix earlier this month.

Let me do some calculations on those numbers.

Yep, 5 out of 5, divide by 5, carry the 1, add the reciprocal, run the simulation, place into my actuarial table, double check results. . . .

According to my calculations that's approximately 100%

When people say that others were wearing masks, I wonder if that means covering mouth and nose. Has the mask been worn numerous times for weeks as they really are Anti-maskers so only wear one when forced. Do they wash or sanitize their hands. Did they wear a mask in airport lines or while getting bags etc. Are the masks N(% grade or just a single layer cloth bandana. All of the above make a difference.
