We used to go twice a year when Hedo was part of Superclubs. This will be our first trip back in 20 years, OMG it's been that long, but we can't wait. There seem to be so many changes. Should we book the VIP airport service to get thru customs? Is there still a hour and a half bus ride to the resort or what should we book. I think it was Tim Air back then. The wife enjoys the company of single males so is December still a good time. It used to be Oct and Jan were pretty much all lifestyle couples? We can't wait. Right now we are set for mid November but we've changed it twice due to this corona crap. If you'll be there Nov 14-21, say hello. Our email is beachescouple@yahoo so say hello. Thanks in advance. OH, do they still do returning guests drawings and dinner? Would it count if it's been this long even though this is our 8th trip? Thanks again

Oh my, you will see some big changes. I think the improvements since Harry acquired the property have been a great improvement. Food is great, top shelf liquors, staff as always are awesome, as well as the guests. Our first trip was when it was Super Clubs, the September before the ownership change. It was very rundown and so so food and a lot of cheap booze. Every year it’s a little better. I always use the VIP service at the airport. Our first trip we didn’t know it was available and was in line for most 2 hours to get through immigration process. Never again, it’s now my insurance I get through the process as quick as possible. Bus is still about and hour and a half, more if the have a midway beer stop. I use a private taxi, gets me home in about an hour, 15 minutes, if no delays in MoBay or Lucea traffic. They have a weekly repeaters cocktail party, 6 pm on Wednesday. They give away resort credits instead of nights. I won for the most trips last year. Finally after all my trips. 🤗 They also have a drawing by room number, and one for the most trips since your last win. Right now rules related to the virus change often and they need to do everything possible to keep the island safe. With the spiking numbers in the US I’m concerned about changes before my upcoming September trip, best of luck to you for November.

Please honor the message board rules that you read and agreed to when registering for access. You are asked NOT to use the message board to locate other travelers and post trip dates. The Visitor Schedule (see Site Links) is to be used for that purpose.

I'm leaving this posted because there are other valid facets of the post. We all just need a reminder occasionally.

Thanks.

With all the changes you will see in your upcoming visit, you will swear that you are not at Hedonism but some classy place that has the same name. Will barely recognize the entrance and the new design of the lobby, main dining room, main food and bar area, main pool area. I am sure you will ask someone if this is "Hedonism II?"

New eatery design, new eateries, no reservations at the a la carte eateries, much better food, redesigned rooms, wifi that works, formally prude beach is now clothing optional, new design in the nightclub and piano bar, designated smoking areas to conform to Jamaica's health laws on smoking (rooms and beaches and pools and bars and eateries are smoke free, by law),

Different entertainment themes. Electronic locks on the room doors. Flat screen room TVs. Weekly foam party. CATV cameras on some zones for safety. Can charge everything to your room. Tipping still not permitted. The free airport transport is no longer as is the Hedo arrivals lounge in the transportation hall.

Suggest using Club MoBay for immigration (usually the longest queue for arrivals) and customs processing. Strongly suggest using a private transfer service for getting to/from Hedo (lots of services that DennyP can suggest).

Given the impact of the COVID-19 virus, the crazy and wild parties are sane and safe. Masks and disinfectant everywhere.

We are not involved in the lifestyle activities other than being uncorrupted nudist, so cannot help you with that topic.

Agree with this one.

Also, I have to wonder about trip insurance. If there's another outbreak, a trip may have to be cancelled. Denny, any recommendations on this?

There is a recommendation on my quotes and invoices. You can also check www.insuremytrip.com.

Not all policies are the same. Be sure to verify that the policy you choose gives you the coverage you need.

For Hedonism II I also suggest the resort's cancellation waiver that I list in my quotes.

Re: your question on the repeater party drawings.... Amazingly, they do seem to have a record of everyone's trips - at least going back to 2000 when we first went. 8 trips wouldn't typically be a winner for most # of trips, but with the covid issues, things might be different for the next 6-12 months. Bring a list of your previous dates, just in case. Good luck, regardless! As said above, there have been a lot of changes - almost all for the better. Bet you'll enjoy the trip. smile

Thanks so much. We were planning on the VIP treatment for customs. I read that quite a few suggested it. Hopefully the covid nonsense has settled down by the fall. I forgot to even mention the flying trapeze LOL We never tried it but always thought it was a crazy idea to have it with free booze everywhere haha Have fun and thanks everyone for responding. Sorry Denny, I found the trip date board after I posted here. We actually went to one of the wet and wild trips in July back in 97 or 98ish. I think you were the organizer. Anyway, thanks everyone

Yes, that would have been me. I am the founder of the WWW trips that started in the summer of 97.

And don't worry, you're not the only one that didn't read the board's registration rules. smirk There is a link to them at the bottom of each message board page. Or here. (It's the last bullet point.)

The trapeze has been gone for so long that I cannot even remember when (what year) it as taken down.

The waterslide is gone, too.

Mini-golf venue is gone and replaced by a designated smoking venue.

Patio outside the disco is now used for the weekly foam party.

All a la carte eaties are closed on Friday so the staff can focus on the mega-food Gala Dinner; hint: start with the rum balls on the desert table before they disappear.

Good advice as usual -- thanks, Denny!

I am considerably less optimistic about this. IMO, the 2nd wave (or the 2nd half of the first wave -- take your pick) will hit the U.S. hard around November.

Regarding the Repeaters Party win, I knew I had a good chance to win because there was very low occupancy and I had 15 trips. Just in case there was an issue I made a copy of my paid in full confirmation for every trip and brought it with me. I wasn’t going to lose that big prize because they had different information in their system. Fortunately they verified my trips and I didn’t have to provide my backup documents.

I agree with the "considerably less optimistic about this" comment. . . Hedo's future will depend on the guests following the rules. . . and I'd strongly suggest wearing a mask regardless of the hotel's stated policy.

I certainly agree with Charlie.

I'm concerned about the lack of trip reports coming out of Hedo since it reopened on July 1st. Trip Advisor use to have numerous short trip reports constantly being posted. There might be one(?) to look at and we are more the halfway through July, Are the trip reports being censored because they are mostly bad? Are the current COVID rules and restrictions taking the fun out of Hedo? My wife and I want to book a trip in September. It would be nice to know a little more about what is going on before we book.

I never have censored any trip reports in the 20+ years of posting them. Why would you suggest that? Hedo has asked me to remove or change reports, but I never have and never would do that.

Trip reports don't come out of the resort. They are submitted by guests. The resort has nothing to do with them. I post every report sent to me.

The resort reopened only a couple weeks ago and it’s probably far from being full, plus a lot of people don’t write trip reports anyway. Give it some time.
