Loud music around the nude pool. Loud anything (people or music) kills a good "vibe".. People can have plenty of fun without loud. The nude pool is a place to gather, drink and meet new friends. It is not a daytime disco that requires people to shout to converse. Well, thats IMHO anyway... :o)

When they took out the waterslide and redid the pool deck , they removed the giant pink flowering bush I was very fond of. Missing the Hedonism flowers ,fruit and women tile backdrop for the front desk as well. When I see those blue bubbles painted on plywood it just doesn't say either classy or welcome to Hedo either. I do appreciate that a replica of the flower, fruit and women backdrop on the beach wrap available in the giftshop. I am still hoping the sign with the similar motif still remains at the entrance of Hedo.

I agree re: lobby decoration...used to have total jungle/Caribbean feel with that fab tile backdrop. And at the nude pool that huge now-blank wall makes me think of brutalism in architecture from East Germany's days. And I don't enjoy the nude pool anymore when the music is so loud you can't talk...and why keep it so warm on hot days?

We all liked the old lobby - it had some old world charm mixed with a Caribbean flair. It made you feel like you had gotten somewhere.
Now, it's like any ordinary hotel entrance. I can get that anywhere.
All in all, I'd rather be a hippy.

I agree with Eric turn the volume down. service at the chop house has gone down hill. The old lobby was Hedo.

And the piano bar is SO NOT FUN like it was when someone actually played the piano and a sing-a-long by everyone actually occurred. Now it's just loud live karaoke, IMO.

I ...and why keep it so warm on hot days? Agree. At the beginning of last year when they heated the pool, I posted a rant about it here, but at the time, I think folks liked the idea. I didn't like it then and my mind hasn't changed. (BTW, had to Google Brutalist Architecture -- apparently, it's been rising in popularity the past few years: https://mymodernmet.com/brutalist-architecture/ )

Piano bar IS NOT mostly karaoke...just feels that way with piano so loud and only one person singing at a time.

Loud noise complaints ain't going anywhere. You can speak to whoever and include it in your exit form and nothing will be done.

I agree with the lobby comments here. It lacks Jamaican flare. The blue 'bubble' wall of painted plywood looks good in photos but very cheap and cheesy in person.
I have not gone to the nude pool for a decade because of the noise level plus I've never been a fan of the high chlorine levels. Sometimes we even have to yell at each other on the beach because it is so loud.
This may be silly but what I miss most are the tablecloths at dinner. I have to make my own out of napkins. I hate the puddles of water that drip all over your clothes when you take a sip of your drink.
I have always been a piano bar fan but now it is a show instead of being about the guests. It is often too loud in there too. I like Stephanie very much. I liked here when she was an EC too, but why do we need a staff singer in the piano bar? Who is motivated to follow her act?
I miss going to the disco after the piano bar closes. I always walk through it at the end of piano bar to find it empty or near empty. It might be that the clientele has evolved from a party crowd to a 'playroom' crowd. It is a beautifully renovated venue that is wasted. A DJ that plays for the guests with scheduled theme nights might help. They could schedule an 80's/90's night, Disco night, country night, oldies night, hip hop night and so on. It might even motivate people to wear outfits to fit the themes.

Great post Anita, totally agree with all points, especially the back drop on the main lobby counter. Why oh why would they have replaced that lovely mural.

Interesting observation about guests now using the playroom instead. Hopefully, management will take your suggestion under serious consideration.

The mural beside the nude hot tub showed the previous girlfriend of a former pro football player who came with us years ago in October.
One day I was talking to Harry and he told me that he came down there one day and saw that someone was painting over the mural. It wasn't his idea!

On my kitchen wall I have a large print of an original painting depicting the former mural beside the hot tub..... I miss the mural everytime I am at the nude pool/hot tub. Thanks for a bit of mural history Hedo Dave. It DOES make me feel better that it wasn't Harry's idea to paint over the mural.

I am not a fan of the mural of the 2 elephants by the gift shop and the washrooms at the far end of the fake grass lined courtyard. Do the elephants have some kind of symbolic meaning? Are the elephants a celebration of the large and the wrinkled? In that case, I am pleased with the elephant mural.

I have never met anyone at Hedo that admired that metal dog trying to get to something up a tree by the former prude now clothing optional pool. One humourous fellow posed for pictures sitting naked on the round circle attached to the metal tree trunk with a roll of toilet paper and a newspaper!

Lucie, the elephants were done during some filming of a movie and some guy related to the movie gang is an artist...why it's still there is a mystery to me too. Seems silly, and not in a fun way.

The Elephant mural was done last year for the Swing of Things movie that was being filmed in August and September. it appeared towards the end of our trip last year. I'm surprised it's still there.

We actually had a lot of fun with those elephants last December, the mural is comprised of dozens and dozens of smaller images within the elephants. We had a lot of fun one night trying to find different images, after a lot of drinks...it was really funny
