We are taking our first trip to hedo on the 6th thru the 13th of september. I have booked a nude side ocean jaccuzi suite. We have never been naked in public (yet) The wife just wants to make sure she/we wont be looked at like aliens if we are partialy clothed walking around the nude side (not beach) What are your thoughts? Will we be shunned until we get comfy enough to strip down?

The Nude Side only refers where in the complex the room is located. The nude side rooms are adjacent to the nude beach. You don't have to be nude to be access the rooms from the outside corridors - although when walking from your room you certainly will encounter naked people coming and going from the nude beach and pool area. If you are staying on the nude side, and hang out at the nude beach, it is conventient because you don't have to dress to head over. If you are on the prude side you generally at least need to put on a towel, depending on when you go.

What's up Doug/Patty!?!?

Why not book nude side? Once they get the taste of it, they will be glad they did. Otherwise they will be wishing they had.

When walking on the interior walkway from the nude side rooms (including ocean view nude jacuzzi rooms up by Delroy's), it's fine to be wearing clothes. Often times you're just checking in, going to/from lunch at the main dining room, to/from dinner, etc.

When going to the nude hot tub / nude pool / nude beach, you'll feel more comfortable being like everyone else, so best to venture there when you're okay being nude....or wear an easily removable sarong. People will notice you a lot more if you're clothed & it is a nude (not clothing optional) section.

It probably won't be that busy during the week you chose in September, so your mileage may vary. If you get up nice & early & hit the nude beach & lay out when not many others are around, it's a good way to ease into it. The easily taken off and put on sarong is a nervous first timers best friend.

Have a super fun trip & don't sweat it, it's all good!!

To us nude means nude if you come to the nude side we understand you might need some time to feel comfortable and get naked but after a while sometimes we do not like the feeling of someone not being naked and staring. This past trip there were 2 men that did not get naked and Alice and some other woman started feeling very uncomfortable.

Well first we have no intentions on staring at anybody. The reason I ask is just to make sure it is accepted to be clothed "around" our unit UNTIL we get comfortable....We have no intention wandering around the nude beach or pool or hot tub with our clothes on...just trying to get a feel for what most people find as acceptable until we are comfy.....after all we are booking the nude because we want to be nude but want to not feel presured to do it the entire time..

I do not post much, but this subject always hits close to home. I am not a nudist and don't really like getting nude. I almost always wear my bottoms. I know you will say why bother.... well my hubby is into the nude thing as well as all my hedo friends. So I totally understand the not just wanting to dive right into the nude thing, I have never been harrassed tooooooo bad. Usually the heckling coming from the same folks I am there with. So I personally believe that if I am respectful of others and the things they do that I don't necessarily agree with that my bottoms shouldn't really bother them. I do think it is different for men. I feel men should have to get naked ... I know it is a double standard but I have never seen a man that minded a woman checking him out but women sometimes do.
I say go have a great time and don't let anyone make you feel uneasy.

My husband and I just returned from our first trip to Hedo. I wasn't sure what to expect with the whole nude thing either. I slammed down a shot of liquor, threw those clothes off just like I was a pro. LOL! After that I never gave it a second thought about being nude. There were a few ladies that chose to wear their bottoms and just go topless. No one seemed to mind it. Maybe she would feel better going with her bottoms the first day. I bet by the end of the day she will be totally comfortable with being nude the rest of your stay. Have a blast and don't sweat it.

I don't understand why you'd want to book a nude room if your companion isn't comfortable with the idea.

We've gotten 'stuck' on the prude side now and then and enjoyed the price difference and the quiet time at night.

Why not book a prude room instead? It's cheaper and just a few seconds away from the nude area. Plus you'd do a favor to folks who really want to book nude rooms.

Unless you are actually on the nude beach, around the nude pool, nude bar (Delroy's) or nude hot tub, there is no reason whatsoever for you to feel uncomfortable clothed. there are many paved paths that go from all the rooms to the beach and many people wear a sarong or towel to walk then take it off once at the beach. The same paths are used to get to the dining hall and any any other clothing-required area of the resort, so maybe half the folks on the grounds surrounding the nude rooms will be clothed with most clothed closer towards dinner.

There was a long thread on this subject recently and there is a great diversity of opinion on it. Some (including myself) favor stricter "nude means nude" enforcement, others have a more lenient view.

In the end, I think it will come down to how busy the resort is when you go and how the mix of guests there at that time feel about clothed or partially-clothed people on the nude beach.

As I read the question, the concern was not some much as being nude on the beach/facilities but rather, lets say, the less nude areas of the nude areas like the road/walkways to the nude section rooms or arriving to the nude beach *along* the beach from the textile areas like the main dining room. Some prefer to leave their room in transit to the nude facilities somewhat clothed, but you can also be nude to do so. As you will have a jacuzzi room, you can walk thru the slider door, by the jacuzzi pool and on to the nude beach in 3 giant steps. I would be nude for this journey.

I've gotten into the habit of putting a wrap on when I run to the room for something. If there are alot of workers around the nude area it makes me feel more comfortable. If Bill's with me I don't bother covering up.

On our first trip to Hedo I was not sure if I could do the "nude" thing. On a previous trip we did go to a nude beach and I felt uncomfortable and did not want to undress....and there was nobody else on the beach. We left after a few minutes because I didn't take my suit off. A few years later my SO told me that Hedo sounded like a blast....I agreed but I was still worried about the nude thing. We made a deal, I would strip down at the nude area and if I hated it we would then head to the prude beach and party there.
We arrived at Hedo in the afternoon and checked into our room and unpacked. We then decided to head to the nude beach. Once on the beach I disrobed and...nobody paid attention. I went to the bar and got a drink and started to relax. After 15 minutes I felt great and wondered why I was ever nervous. In January we will be taking our 6th trip....and I still have not spent any time on the prude beach.

Book any room you want. And enjoy your trip. Lots of times we've seen women with bottoms on. Take your time, have a drink and see what happens. Don't be pressured by anyone. It is your vacation.

Well I DON'T feel safe around Bill.

Took me two weeks to get that polish off my toes!! laugh laugh

And as Chuck pointed out, the real question was different than is it OK to be clothed on the beach. Many folks walk on the paved pathways on the nude side wearing something or nothing at all. I don't remember ever anyone being questioned there.

On the beach, that's where the difference of opinion comes in. We were leaving once and walked down to say "bye" to some folks once just before getting on the beach and one of the guards came up to us saying we had to disrobe. I just don't think they would have let us ride the bus nekkid!!

I have only been once but interpreted it as that it's fine to be walking around/thru the nude side clothed but once you get to the beach or pool the clothes better be short lived.

I did go to the nude pool bar with a bikini on to get a drink one morning before a stroll on the beach, noone looked at me weird since we'd already been there (nude) for several days and we didn't linger.

We think that everyone (men and women) should receive a short time in the nude area to determine whether they are comfortable and care to remain in that area. Whether its 15 minutes or an hour, doesn't really matter. But after a reasonable time, they need to recognize that nude means nude. Bottoms are not appropriate for either sex. If after an adjustment time, a woman prefers to remove her top and keep her bottom, she will be welcome on the prude side, and that is where she should enjoy her vacation. We feel equally uncomfortable with women who spend the week on the nude side with their bottoms, as with guys who try to do the same. It is fundamentally unfair to enjoy the ambiance of the environment, but to violate its definitive characteristic.

Most women who wear their bottoms on the nude side are dealing with the periodic tables of a women's anatomy. Watch closely and you'll notice they rarely go in the water. As for men, I always wear a bottom on the nude side early in the morning when I set up my spot because it's easier to wear them than carry them with all the other things I bring to the beach. It's also nice to have some reasonable threads to throw on when I feel like going "up top" or over to the Prude Grille for a bite rather than heading back to the room for cloth. The nude beach is a nude beach, but in my mind's eye there are exceptions to the rules.

During a recent trips, there were a dozen or so females who remained fully clothed (more than bathing suits) in/around the nude pool, for the entire week. We complained to security, yet nothing was done. We were extremely uncomfortable with them there.

There may be a bit of gray area regarding the 'rules' but when it comes to the pool? I vote for Nude at the nude pool and its area except for extreme circumstances.

True. I toured Braco a few years ago. You could only walk through the nude area with clothing if accompanied by a staff member. This fact was pointed out to me by my guide who was the public relations manager at the time. I wish I could remember her name. She told me she started as an EC at Hedo II years before. That had to be before 88.

I have no problem with giving a newbie an hour or so to get comfortable. Ladies that have been nude that need to wear bottoms because they can’t depend on tampons have always been accepted too.

What does bugs me are the men who are only nude in the pool and walk around or hang out at the beach bar with a towel wrapped around them. They think they are so clever, it insults my intelligence. Do they think they are nude?

Obviously this could go on and on. It is fine to walk the nude property in clothes. Once in the swimming area it is respectful to strip. If she wants to wear her bottoms she will be fine....the ones that will judge.....well...can't stop them.
Have a blast!

Viperess I agree. This topic comes up about once a month and the same people say the same things every month. Therefore, this same person is going to say the same thing....If one is not comfortable enough with their nudity that they can not be in the company of a nude man and his wife or S/O that is wearing only a bikini bottom, they need to find another place to vacation.

HedoT - I'm a little confused about your phrase "they need to find another place to vacation". Do you mean the couple with one person wearing a bottom on the nude side, or do you mean the people who are actually fully nude on the nude side?

The person who has a problem with and is not comforable enough with their own nudity to be around a female wearing only a bikini bottom should find another place to vacation.

Or maybe the person who doesn't want to be nude on a nude beach should go to a clothing optional beach?

Or maybe the lady in her time of the month should not be banned from the nude beach when she wants to wear a bikini bottom.
One can do a search on this topic and it always comes down to opinion and everybody has one.

To the women that wear bottoms, with the exception of those on their cycle, what is the big deal with taking your bottoms off? Your comfortable with your boobs out but need to cover your lower parts? I'm a guy so of course I don't "get it" but I just think it's kinda silly.

Is it so special that it can only be exposed behind closed doors? If there isn't a medical reason for wearing them then they should come off or go to the Prude side. To say you're "uncomfortable" isn't a valid excuse, I'm sure many people felt the same way their first time on a nude beach but over came it.

If it's ok for one women to wear bottoms then it's ok for all women to wear bottoms and then it's not a nude beach anymore.

There are very few rules at Hedo and even less that are actually posted, but there is a sign that says "Nude Beach"

Respect the Rules.

"What does bug me are the men who are only nude in the pool and walk around or hang out at the beach bar with a towel wrapped around them. They think they are so clever, it insults my intelligence. Do they think they are nude?"

Anita my darling, I would never try to insult your intelligence; or anything else - too scary smile . Is it ok though if I carry a couple of other peoples towels around with me near Delroys? No hands of course as I would like to ensure any potential Red Stripe opportunities are exploited to the full laugh

You may of course - with advance permission from Sarah already granted - check the only thing underneath is,,,,,well............. errrrrrr.....my thing!!!! laugh

Looking forward to seeing you in November, the only problem is.....it's still so far away!!!! eek

Big hug,

Truck

Oh well ! I am still going to wear my bottoms. If I get asked to leave then I will leave. But to say that I should go to the prude side pisses me off. SO I should spend my vacation on the prude side while my hubby and friends are on the nude. I would be happy to go somewhere else but it is hubby's favorite place. It also irritates me that it's ok for a girl to get fisted by another girl next to me on the beach and my bottoms bother you. PLEASE!!!!!
Love to you all
