Hi

I'm visiting hedo on 3/6/18 arriving at 16:30 does anyone else here have advise for transport, in the past I have just grabbed a taxi and luck would have it shared it. But if anyone else knows if there is another option. I have heard there is a bus but not sure where to look for info on that.

If anyone here is going to be there and will be arriving there around then and would want to share let me know.

Can't wait for hedo Wet Wild & Wicked this year, first time I have been able to plan my trip for the same time.

I'm betting it is June 3.

Check with Sun Holidays. They have a counter in the arrival hall or you can make advance reservations (preferred). There are also other transport companies there too.

JTL is the cheapest, also in the arrival hall. I have used both companies and they give reasonable good service. Count on spending 30-60 minutes after you check in at the counter unless you get lucky.

Hopefully some other hedo visitors will be there arriving at the same time and we can share the bus.

Hi, @timt2011 . Welcome to the message board. Question, just because I'm curious: Are you inquiring about the bus strictly on a cost basis? The reason I'm asking is because I have had some less-than-satisfactory experiences with the bus, namely:

(a) you sometimes have to wait for the bus to fill up before it leaves the airport (in my experience, this can take up to a half hour)

or

(b) if you have other folks on the bus that are not going to Hedo, then occasionally, they can be judgmental towards folks being dropped off there.

Of course, your experiences may be different.

Either way, I hope you have a sensational vacation!

The cost is not too much of an issue, I have used taxi before and shared with people and did have some mixed responses with regards to hedo. I was hoping that if someone is arriving at the same time to share a taxi or something.

Just heard that there was a hedo bus but if there isn't a specific one I will probably just take a taxi which when split with someone before only cost $25 one way. As I don't want to be waiting for ages as I have looked forward to this since the day I left last year.

The option we have settled on after many trips is private car transport. We use Luxurious Caribb Tours, but there are many that offer dependable service at a reasonable price ($55 - $70 each way for two passengers). Advantages include time saving, as the ride is direct to your resort unless you ask for stops. You won't have to wait until the vehicle fills up or wait for the next scheduled departure. We have found that it even beats flying (though that's admittedly more fun) for price and for the fact that, while the flight is shorter, the time spent waiting for the plane to fill up negates any time savings. We generally arrive at Hedo in 75 to 80 minutes most of the time.

The Sun Holiday bus we take is only to Hedo. Depending on when you arrive, you may have to wait for more passengers. You could be last on board and leave immediately. We have a Red Stripe while we wait and chat with the other Hedo passengers.

I offer several transfer options at http://dennyp.com/dennyptravel/transfer-misc.htm. I make no commission on these. I just offer them as a convenience and service to anyone needing pre-arranged transfers.

JTL will make stops along the way at different resorts. Sun Holiday's will go directly to Hedo.

We, too, have used Luxurious Carib Tours for several years with outstanding service. They are based in the Negril area as are their drivers, so they know the roads and the problem areas. They offer cold liquids for the journey and have always been on time with clean cars and safe driving. They are the least expensive for a private transfer (US$55 one way for three to resorts on the beach road).

I used JTL on my last trip. Yes, it made a bunch of stops along the way, but that allowed me to get a glimpse of a lot of the other resorts along the way to Negril, and I found it fascinating. Yes, it took a bit longer, but what the heck; as soon as I get off the plane in MoBay I'm on vacation!

We used JTL last April (2018). The 12 passenger Toyota bus had seat belts, just no buckles. After waiting a longtime at the AP, with almost a revolt on board (the drive had to leave the bus and wait out of site for the last two passengers), we headed to Negril. Oh, did I mention, all the luggage was loaded on the back bench seat, right to the ceiling, with no securing of the luggage. An emerg brakeing, and all that luggage was going to fly forward, onto the passengers. They need to get rid off those old Toyota's. After we all agreed not to stop on the way to various Negril resorts, the driver kept working the crowd till one couple gave in and ask for jerk chicken. He stopped on the side of the road at a roadside bar-b-que. The trip back was on a new 30 passenger Chinese bus. Problem was not enough luggage storage, so they filled the emerg exit with our luggage, and placed some in the narrow aisle. The ride though was smooth, the driver high balled it, and the AC worked well. I did a trip report on Tripadvisor about JTL.

That seems pretty typical of my bus trips. Little old beater of a bus going in, often a full sized bus going back. I see a lot of passengers white-knuckling on the trip in (from all the chances the driver takes), but after fighting through traffic myself in big cities (LA, Montreal, Sydney, etc.) it dosn't bother me anymore.

I've always wondered what a sea taxi along the coast would be like...

All in all, I'd rather be a hippy.

PP. our experience too. Someone always comments on the pile of luggage. And we lost a mirror one time, but both vehicles just kept going. Sun Holiday buses seem to be a little newer, but same issue with the luggage.

There is a catamaran outfit that offers the MoBay to Negril excursion twice weekly.

Not inexpensive but offered: https://dreamercatamarans.com/our-tours/#tours_4
