Hi, it's been about 4 years since we have been to the resort and are looking at planning our 3rd visit. This year, October seems the best month to fit into our busy schedule. Besides that being Hurricane season and the threat that a trip may need to be cancelled (maybe trip insurance is a good idea for Oct. visits), are there other negatives to going in late Sept. to mid October? We are curious if the resort caters to more of an "older" crowd in the fall (since kids are back in school) or the resort has a lower occupancy in general. We are in our late 30s/early 40s and usually take our "couples only" vacation in the Spring.

Also, do they have many groups booking in late Sept./October? If one knows a calendar that shows what groups are going and when that would be great! Thanks!

Denny has a calendar of groups at: https://calendar.google.com/calendar/embed?src=fh4v6rnf718pquf6foq5oug27k@group.calendar.google.com&ctz=America/Phoenix

or click on "resort calendar" on site links in a box to my left.

Young Swingers week starts Oct. 21 but I think you might be too old for them but they might make an exception since one of you is in your 30's.

You'll probably have 1-2 days of serious rain in a week with potentially some fast rain storms in addition.

In my mind's eye, late 30s and early 40s is young...oh dear! About 20-25 years ago, the average age at Hedo was reported to be about 42. I've thought that age went up in the last many years and NOW is going back down to that 40-year-old mark.

We love Hedo for Halloween! I think we have been 3 times at Halloween and it is so fun! Better than any other Halloween party we have been to! So many creative costumes and sexy costumes. Plus the resort's anniversary is November 1, so Halloween is followed by another great party the next night. There can be thunder showers in the afternoons on many days during this time, but it never seemed to dampen a good time. Most people just warmed up in the nude hot tub.

Respect - every time!

The Young Swingers might make an exception? How nice of them. Just what percentage of the resort do they own? Curious minds would like to know....

Yes, all this talk about joining the YoungSwingers group has me concerned that I cannot go that week. But to be honest, can we not just sign up to go the same week as they do as regular guests directly thru the resort? Would this group being there and us not being part of the group (whether we look young enough of not) put a damper on our fun? Can we not go anyway and meet some that might like to meet new people practically there same age (and possibly in better shape than many of them)? Or are you guys saying there will be no vacancy that week since they have all the rooms booked? Sorry just trying to learn more since we have never gone as part of a group.

They don't have all the rooms booked - there is no single group that books the whole resort anymore. Use the link in my signature area below to request a quote.

Sure you can book a room, but some groups (certainly not all) may limit their activities to people who book through their group. YSL might want you to be young and a swinger, Bloom might want you to be black and gay, The Old Fogies Sex Appreciation Society might want you to be young and a swinger, etc...

Do the Bubbly Bares still go in October? I've met many of them elsewhere and they seem like fun folks to party with.

We were at Desire once when the Young Swingers did a resort takeover but some showed up early. They made no effort to interact with other guests that we saw.

Since we couldn't book the dates of the takeover,we went off to Secrets (a very nice all-inclusive resort though textile).

I would recommend highly you book in October.

We were in Hero last October, and we just booked another trip (through Denny) for this October. Kind of like the OP, that month just works for us.

We never sweat the hurricanes. Just seems too out of our control and really, there are so many other things that could go wrong. Last October there was no rain at all during our 12 days there, although I suspect that is unusual.

Last October the resort was quieter and I understand this year will be the same. But we had just as good a time as when it is full. When the resort is 60-70% full you still get a critical-mass of party people. But you also do not have to stake-out beach lounges, or wait for seating at restaurants. For us, it is perfect.

We did not book with a group. If we are adopted by a group when we get there, or if we decide to watch from the sidelines, we always have fun. We do not go with expectations. agendas, rituals, etc. We just let the spirit of Hedo wash over us, if you know what I mean, and have a laugh.

Yes, the Bubbly Bares still go to Hedo at the end of October (over Anniversary). They are fairly inclusive compared with some groups.

We have been going over Halloween with the Fluffernutters. Yes the Bubbly Bares are there and we found them to be as friendly as the Fluffs. The bares have invited us to several of their parties.
