I'd stop going if -

- It became "couples only," singles are why we go.
- If safety became an issue, who needs the trouble
- The food got worse... it's not that bad
- Flight connections got more difficult

MsDoc... Lewis and Alice are no newbies!!! don't let their enthusiasm for the place fool you....lol
For us, its not even the economy that will keep us away. Airfares? Gas Surcharges? Oil is down to prices per barrel that rival 10 years ago yet our gas pump prices remain very high!
The attitude of the Management and lack of interest in upgrading this resort to at least stand equal to others along the beach is becoming an issue for us. In the past, we looked at Hedo with newbies eyes, overlooked the growing mountain of problems that were ignored by management. Why did we accept this substandard return on our investment? Because of the people and fun times we have there.

I have heard the 50 satisfied to 1 unhappy ratio quoted on here many times, unfortunately for Hedo, that is closing on 25 - 25 now i believe. I for one do hope that Management and SC start taking into consideration that people generally want a good value for their dollar. It would be a shame to have the low occupancy times become more and more frequent and result in the loss of this wonderful concept for all. A resort can only remain open with 100% occupancy for 20% of the year for so long. As I see it, Hedo has trudged along on its reputation and laurels for far too long. Time to wake up and fix up!

Lew, wasn't it around last February you made your "virgin" trip? It sounds like you have adapted well. Also some very good news has come to my attention about Hedo. It has made me feel a lot better about the place. Can't wait till December. Hmmmmmmm....maybe we will make the trip back in February afterall.

Now you have me intrigued...will this news make the resort better in the next 30 days? If it takes more than that, then it'll be my next trip.

Now I have even more anticipation. How can that be???

This seems to be a popular "I Heard" lately. Maybe the Big Brown Man knows since he's back from his recent recon mission to the island.

Our last trip was the worst out of 7. They were working on the water system and our whole building was without water for more than a day.. right before dinner too so 2 evenings you cant bathe or use your own toilet. Hedo management promised a voucher as compensation for the inconvience and yet none has ever come. Also we had things stolen out of our room. That cost another half day because they sent security to search all our stuff to make sure we didnt "misplace" the stuff.

Well from my observations, the resort slipped downhill more under Bourke, during his most recent tour there, than under other managers the past 15 years. So, I would be disappointed if Richard Bourke should return.

I saw more improvements being made at HII and the staff generally happier under Pellico than at any time during the previous several years. And, let's not forget that Roberto was responsible for both Lido and Hedo. Perhaps Gary Williams above him had more to do with it than Roberto.

That said, we have never had a bad trip to HII during high season and we have only missed 2 years of the past 15.

"Is this thing on?"

"HelllLOOOoo!!" "THIS PLACE SUCKS WITHOUT A PIANO BAR!"

How long has it been since Dave left, and Super Clubs can't find someone to fill the spot? JESUS, if I'd known it would take them THIS long, I'd have learned to play the damn thing!

I mean REALLY!!

I sure hope not. VERY soon after they got rid of Dave, I went there and met with Richard and told him flat out that they were making a MAJOR mistake.

Several years later, the Piano Bar STILL sucks.

I rest my case.

Rick, our friend, what are you starting here?!?! Leave it to you to start trouble. WTF?!?!?! LOL

Sandi and I have found that over the last 7 years things have gotten a bit better. We've been bumped, bumped to point, had no air, bad air, bad service, bad food, etc... over that time period. We've done Desire a few times and love the rooms, service, beach, etc...

What can't be matched, is the Hedo II atmosphere, guests and repeat groups. There's just something that keeps drawing us each year. We've considered, going to Desire again, etc...but we live for the Hedo experience. There's just nothing like the time we spend at Delroy's with our friends each year. Can it use improvements? Of course and we should keep demanding them. As for the PDA, that doesn't bother us as much, and must admit we're probably one of the guilty parties you've seen. Us and many of our return friends all appreciate and like that part of the experience.

Bill,
As I mentioned in my first post on this thread it was also my perception that the resort went down hill under Richard as well. We like Richard and believe he was doing a good job considering the lack of resources he seemed to be getting from SC. I agree that the resort went down some when he was there, but I find it hard to single him out as the problem since SC was using Hedo as a cash cow and not reinvesting in the place. I think with the proper resources Richard would prove to be a very good GM. He is certainly among the more personable.
Respect!
