My travel agent just advised that they got a notice from Hedo that due to circumstances beyond their control, use of the water slide has been discontinued. Damn!

Maybe the beam that dangles out from the support pier has deteriorated to the point of danger.

when we were there in October, thy were putting aquatic themed decals on the slide. Too bad it is closing, it was fun

Maybe the insurance cost to operate the slide increased too much.

Wasn't there a recent lawsuit after someone was injured on the slide? It might be related to that.

There was an accident where a woman was paralyzed using an inflatable waterslide at Hedo. Very sad.

Like waterskiing, the insurance cost probably caused the closing. I'm surprised because based on photos during renovation I thought a portion of the slide was rebuilt.

Looked like all they did was paint it/put decals on it to match the "flow" of the lobby.

Those aren't decals on the slide tube. Not that it makes any difference, but a rastaman came in for several days and hand painted the mural. I was impressed. I could do without the water slide. It has been little used by a relatively small number of guests over the years. Only really used by the nude invasion once a day or so. And I would think that it is a rather large liability. At other resorts with water slides the maintenance gets to be an expensive proposition. As the structure settles a bit, the seams become misaligned which can be very uncomfortable even if one is wearing a swimsuit. I know one resort owner who has had this problem, along with other waterslide problems, for years. The support has to be very strong , of course, and at the same time rather easily adjustable. Invest the money in water sports equipment and the beach area.

In October, I saw with my own eyes, decals being put on the waterslide parts reachable from the main pool deck.

Could be. Es macht nichts. I did not walk over and stand close to him so he could have been applying decals. He was there for at least three days. Sure looked like he was painting. He had the straightest ramrod posture that I have ever seen for a human being and I never saw him wearing shoes while walking in from the hot pavement. Very interesting guy.There I go with my lying eyes! There have been recent studies regarding the validity of eyewitnesses to crimes. So, evidently, I would be a good example for the defense counsel to use.(Well, my wife just pointed out that I am an idiot. She says that she only saw the Rastaman painting a GD wall! All that I want for Christmas is an ego.)

T38, I don't know when you were there, but it occurs to me we both may be right. I saw decals being put on in October. Sun, heat, rain, humidity are all going to play hell and probably cause decals to bubble up and be ruined fairly quickly. The decals may have gone to pot, been peeled off and a local painter hired in a short period of time.

Judy, I wish that you were correct but I was apparently there at the same time that you were and I was wrong. My wife stated the case very well. Sometimes I am an idiot.The Rasta was apparently painting a wall. Thanks for your kind effort. I just hate it when my wife is so brutally correct. I'm thinking of telling her that her last hair cut did not look very good. Maybe not.

Don't worry gang.....the slip and fall accidents (and there have been a few) at the foam party will make up for the slide.

Going to miss the water slide. But as for the foam party, why cann't they have it on the prude beach sand. They had the paint party there a couple of years ago.

Hmmm, maybe we can ask for a new one to be built, perhaps from the upper dinning room down to the beach? (That walk was always too far on a full stomach).

lol I would rather they build a moving sidewalk UP the hill....which seems to get steeper every trip

I just got back from Hedo yesterday and they did take down the water slide. It took about a day. It seemed weird not seeing it there the rest of the trip. The also took down the rock climbing wall.

Well, I'm glad the ICE SKATING RINK is still there...

I didn't see the miniature golf course last week!

Of course that could be because I never look for it.

There used to be a beautiful tropical garden where the miniature golf was. We were married in that garden in 1998. Now it is a smoking area?!! What a shame!!
