Looks like a potential solution for having to place bottles of booze in checked luggage when checking into a connecting flight.

Not sure which airports have implemented this process. Hopefully MBJ will.

Hopefully, this will solve the problem of US passport and customs checks in foreign countries, too.

In Aruba, Abu Dhabi, and (I believe) the Bahamas, you go through US passport and customs there with only your carry-on baggage, after you have passed through the duty free shop. Any bottle you purchase there larger than 3 oz. (booze or perfume) will be confiscated.

There is no chance to put it in your checked luggage, as it was taken at the check-in desk.

Luckily, we had heard about this in advance, and didn't get caught by it.

Respect.

We'll be flying back and forth next month (MKE to CLT to MBJ) round-trip. Does this mean we WILL be able to carry on our 2-4 bottles of duty-free booze (providing they are packaged in those special boxes from the airport shop) all the way back to MKE? Or, might we run into a problem with our connection in CLT? We've always flown direct both ways to/from ORD and never had a problem. Now, we're scared...

Did you read the article referenced in the initial posting?
Quote
Beginning January 31, 2014, passengers traveling internationally into the United States with a connecting flight will be permitted to carry liquids in excess of 100 mL in their carry-on baggage, provided they were purchased in duty-free shops and placed in secure, tamper-evident bags (STEBs).
The liquid must be in a secure, tamper-evident bag. The article contains a link to sources of those bags.

We DID read it Denny, and even clicked on the link. If we're reading it correctly, then, and we're only seeking confirmation (we fly ONCE every 3-5 years if we're lucky), the boxes that the duty-free shops utilize are NOT tamper resistant, right? That being said, does anyone with a connecting flight, buy a bottle(s), and then re-package it/them in the special required envelope. This sounds like it would be more trouble than it's worth. And, again, we apologize for sounding "dumb" on this topic...

The unknown, as no one has responded that has returned recently, is IF the two (or one of the two) of the duty free booze shops at MBJ has adopted using this bags.

We bought rum creme in February and the bottles were packed in a two bottle box, no bag. We had a direct flight so it was no issue.
