OK, Denny has a secret he won't tell. That doesn't stop us from making wild guesses.
So, lets have a best guess vote and see who is the closest!

My vote is - Super Clubs is buying up Point Village and expanding Hedo. (I can dream...)

They are going to fix up the old girl. Any improvements are welcome.

Any committment to the property by SC will result in more return visits for us. We reward that kind of thing with our vacation dollars!

My guess... Richard Bourke is coming back to Hedo and bringing some major renovations with him.

But adding Point Village would be awesome... if it didn't turn into a timeshare/ buy-in/ club kind of thing. That's one of the reasons we don't go to Mexico much anymore.

Major renovations to Hedo and guests will go to Breezes next door during construction.

Taking over Point Village would be great, but it has multiple condo owners to buy out.

Maybe they are bringing back Toga Night?

It's the art auction that they are bringing back due to the high demand from the comment cards.

Free cigarettes?

Replacing all the ECs with cocktail waitresses and extra bartenders?

Just back and I heard from a very reliable source... that they are going to start renovations and closing up certain areas ( rooms ) for a few months at a time to redo them....( ? ) We'll see ....

Please renovate my room first so it will be ready for the end of the year! I'd love the Point Village thing, however think the money could be used to fix what they have rather than expansion and sperading finances, the purchase of that property would be a major investment and they would then need to invest in 2 properties to fix up. I'd vote renovations to existing Hedo with "bumping" to Breezes for those affected. They will also replace the ocean raft with the addition of curtains for privacy and the giant turd will be sunk off the hook to be used as an artificial reef!

I got this straight form the horses mouth.

1)The nude beach raft will be replaced and boinking will be allowed. It will be anchored such that it is 2.5 ft below the surface so action will not be objectionable to cruising boats.
2) The climbing wall will be sunk vertically next to the raft with 15 feet sticking above the waterline so those wanting to publicly boink can climb the turd and perform at the top. However hours will be restricted (evening,10pm-6am, daytime:2:23pm until 2:27pm.
3)Food service will be vastly improved: Catering contract has been signed with Burger King of Jamaica.
3)Burlesque theater will replace the disco. Enough poles will be included such that all female guests will be assigned one for their vacation.
4)SC's humorous side will be displayed when the hook is redesigned and reworked to the shape of a middle finger. Design limitations prevented the first idea...having it point at Sandals.
5)Due to overwhelming demand, the skating rink will return.
6) Point Village will not be used to expand, but will become a new resort called Hedo-lite. Nudity will not be allowed, but public sex will.
7)To give a little more class to the resort, dinner music will be provided by the Kingston Philharmonic Orchestra.For the more cretin, a mud pit will be built in front of the stage and on Tuesday night the entertainment will be...you guessed it Ladies Mud Wrestling Night.
8)REALLY EXCITING! For those infantile among us....a permanent OSHA approved balloon launcher will be built on the end of the new finger (old hook). Computer targeting will be included to prevent excess usage of balloons. Negotiations are going on to place Bill under contract as the permanent safety officer.
9)The island will be renamed Orgy Island and declared a state separate from Jamaica. Open sex will be allowed.
10)Toga night will be brought back as Toga Day.
11)Hugs will be declared a required greeting.

This is absolutely the truth. I called the resort and got confirmation from one of the groundskeepers.

I hate (gloating mildly) to say this, but as a roving reporter who broke the renovation story after my April trip. I am happy to hear that what Kevin and Gary said was a fact! Of course, if it does not prove out to be true, I will employ plausible denial that I ever heard, or reported, anything concerning Hedo renovations. (ala the air conditioners in the late 90's)

I have grown to like Kevin, as well as Richard, and would be satisfied with either.

Hedo and Kevin Levee are one and the same. Kevin and the resort have a long history together. Kevin quietly gets things done and has a loyal following amongst the employees. I like Richard but feel that he has a more confrontational management style. Walking around with a camera to photograph employees who might be taking a short break or committing some other rather small infraction of the rules is not endearing to me. I do understand the short term effectiveness of confronting the employee but the longer effect is not so apparent. Kevin and many of us have spent many years together at this resort. I give Kevin much credit for the good times.

As usual, I agree with T-38 on Kevin.

I was told by someone affiliated with the Jewel Resort in Ocho Rios (where Richard's wife is the GM) than Richard was being moved back to Negril ... but the person did say or know what resort he we going to in Negril (Hedo or BGN) or if it was even a permanent new assignment or not. Time will tell.

Dream come true for me would be.... SC renovates the crap out of both resorts and begins to compete again with other resorts in food, rooms, and amenities and we end up with Kevin at Hedo and Richard at BGN. That would be sweet!

The rooms will be painted a lighter shade of gray.
The rates will go up 50pp to cover this major overhaul of the resort.

Bookie: You almost had me until #5. I knew you were pulling our chain (I think our chain....) with the "Due to overwhelming demand" part.

p.s. I prefer oil wrestling to mud wrestling. Oil enhances, mud hides.

Hoping that a second nude pool is being put in- perhaps something much bigger and "optional" for the newbies to ease into it- so many afternoons in the quad at H3 where we talked lovely ladies out of their suits....

Heard from a reliable source, now that SC owns all of Breezes Grand Negril, they have received an offer to purchase it that could go through real soon. Also heard that BGN has been having trouble meeting their payroll. Maybe if they make some money off of the sale of BGN, they will invest some cash into the Hedo property.

I did see something in the Gleaner a while back about SC trying to purchase the 50% of BGN they did not own from whatever entity owns it (Negril Urban Development perhaps). My thought then was that they would either renovate or sell the thing. I have leaned toward SC selling BGN because of what looks like a move out of Jamaica for SC to me given the demise of all their other properties in Jamaica.

So I am going to edit my prediction at the upcoming news to say one of two things....

1) BGN will be sold and Hedo renovated on the scale it needs and deserves to be the sole A-I SC has in Jamaica.

2) BGN will be sold, but Hedo will be sold as well but to a company who will renovate it on the fly (no close down) and cater to the Swinger market (like Desire resorts).

I just feel that SC is done with Jamaica, but would be happy to find that I am wrong.

Or worse case (sorry, but someone has to say it) - an outside company sees the value of owning that little peninsula that holds Hedo, Point Village and Breezes Grand Negril, buys it out, and clears everything to make a new mega-resort.

I hate mega resorts. And with so many going in, I feel the Jamaicans will get fed up too.

Three notes of possible interest: Kevin and Richard were both on site when we arrived last week. The nude beach concierge was on the nude beach daily investigating what needed to be done and things were getting done. (Dead tree branch removal, seaweed/urchin removal, cleaning, etc.) All the soaps and the luggage carts and various other items say Breezes on them. This should stir the pot a little.

The soaps have said Breezes on them since we started going in 2003.

Roy may be rather close in his prediction. I do not see Point Village being part of the deal even though I would love to see it in the package. Condo projects are harder to buy out. The most likely scenario is that Hedo and BGN will be operated by someone other than SC as a combined effort. Small resorts in Jamaica unfortunately are having a hard time. An organization such as Blue Diamond with it's Sun Wing connection can supply a steady stream of customers while also catering to the more traditional US Hedo visitor. Hedo may be closed for a few weeks of renovation.Combining the operation of Hedo and Breezes Negril can provide flexibility in such things as renovations and even over sales. The two properties might be operated much as the Iberostar properties with a three or four star resort next to a four or five star resort with some reciprocal privileges. Secrets in Mobay has a two tier system. Then,of course, Super Clubs may be the operator with a similar arrangement. Cho! Sum ting gwan on.

Interesting possibility. When SC bought the point they raised the possibilty of a resort within a resort.

Sell the existing hedo facility bring the sign with you across the driveway to Breezes, build new facilties on the point, rehab the rest. Then have nude, cloting optional and prude all in one resort.

I assume you are talking of Serena and she has been doing that since her arrival from H3...she is a wonderful addition to the staff.

I'm hoping they announce a beach table for every two beach chairs! I’m really very easy to please.

How much longer was it until we are supposed to hear what might or might not be going on at Hedo?

BTW- I second Anita's fondness for the little tables. When we score one of those it makes a great day at the beach even better!

It's no secret that both Hedo II and Breezes Grand Negril are for sale. SC is actively accepting bids on both properties. SuperClubs bought out the Jamaican Government's 50% share of BGN, This will make the sale of the property much easier and cleaner.

Richard Bourke has been hanging around Hedo lately. He was made redundant by SC upon the close/sale of Trelawny. He is probably connected with new potential buyers of either one of the properties or both.
