Have a concern regarding mold in the rooms, seen some nonfavorable photo's on TripAdvisor that showed mold in several places. Now this may be a single location, and we are not judging at all, but is cleanliness/maint an issue there? (pools cloudy, mold, dilapidated construction)

I think it is less of a matter of cleanliness than it is of functionality. By and large, the maids do a great job. I don't remember mold, bugs or dirt. I do remember toilets that don't flush, showers that are cold and air conditioning that is not perfect.

the main place i'd think to find mold would be under the air conditioning with the humidity. i used to get puddles underneath the ac unit at h3. i've never had any real problems with my room.

People have complained about cleanliness occasionally on this board, but in our 8 trips we always thought the rooms were very clean. Better than many mid-level hotels.

We have always found the rooms to be very clean. the maid always does a excellent job.

We did experience one problem this year with bugs. We had a bad rain and flying bugs were near the window sill. They managed to get into our room. We put a towel near the window sill to prevent them from coming in. NO BIGGIE.

I take a personal size Lysol with me just in case...I spray it in the air-ducts....Housekeeping does an excellent job.

I just returned from Hedo last Saturday. I had the time of my life. My room was #2251, and the location was perfect, A/C was topnotch, hot water was plentiful, and overall it was very clean. No smells or issues with the room.

I don't ever recall having a problem with cleanliness in the rooms, but I'm also a guy so I don't see dirt and dust very well, I've never seen mold anywhere at the resort.

Now walk across the dining room floor in your barefeet, that will turn the bottoms of your feet a nice disgusting black. I'm more afraid of that stuff in the jacuzzi than anything else.

It's a tropical environment and very humid, the heat and moisture are prime environments for mold growth. Have we seen mold...of course, is it rampant...not at all. The housecleaning staff does an excellent job. I'm sure of someone want a picture of mold, if you look around you can find it.
Totally agree about the AC unit though...Hidden spots may have some mold growth.

I have not had any issues with room cleanliness since they took that nasty carpet out. Since then (and once I learned not to slip and fall down on the tile) my room has always been as clean as any I've had anywhere. Top notch.

While I have had the random complaint about food, service in the dining room, the EC's, I can say that the housekeeping staff, bell staff, waterspors staff, the bar staff, and especially the groundskeepers have never seemed less than perfect to me for years and years.

I agree with Roy. Everyone on staff does an outstanding job, including the housekeepers. The staff works long hours under sometimes difficult circumstances. They're often dealing with people who have had too much to drink, working with outdated equipment and dealing with a less than modern physical plant. I can't recall a single complaint we have ever had regarding cleanliness or any other issue involving the staff (as long as you're willing and able to deal with "soon come", but that' a cultural thing).

We were at Hedo in March, and after 2 days began having respiratory issues...we got a driver to take us into Negril and bought a can of Lysol, (P.S. cigarettes are REALLY cheap in Negril!) took it back, removed the AC filters, washed them in the tub in hot water (yes, they were really dirty), air-dried them on the windowsill, and sprayed the hell out of the AC unit. The next day we started feeling better. I will do this every time we return...we do enough harm to our bodies with the 7 am to 4 am hours every day, the overabundance of alcohol and ganja, and overeating, so we don't need to add a respiratory illness to the mix.
