Judy, the sign was inaccurate for 25 years until 18 months.

I received an email that the resort course is now US$85. Sandals resort course is US$80.

So can some please ask at the watersports shack and not rely on the sign.

My photos need a lot of processing before the "Bright Colors of Hedo" is ready to be published, but in the mean time, here is a little video I took. Just as the bus was pulling up to Hedo, after an hour and a half on the road, and the famous sign is coming into view. I think you will all remember this exact scenario........

Why not call the resort to get an accurate answer? You may have to ask someone to check and email you back.

I recognize that bus driver. I've ridden with him several times, including the time he hit a very drunk pedestrian in Lucea. The guy zigged when he should have zagged. I thought we'd killed him, but I think his drunkness saved him and he just got banged up. (We weren't going that fast in Lucea traffic).

I recognized the driver too!! Luckily, we've had only smooth rides with him.

I am VERY nervous about the hot water situation, though...We arrive in 5 days so I hope it is fixed by then. To be honest, I'd rather have good, hot water with strong pressure throughout my trip instead of a free night voucher. Fingers crossed!!

Hi Monie - immigration took about an hour on arrival in Jamaica, but getting out on the way home was pretty quick, maybe ten or fifteen minutes or so. Glad you enjoyed my posts!

Jake I wanted to say thanks too- we are still over 100 days out from out next trip but it was cool to get updates. Hope you are well at home and not feeling the DIF too much.

Last October we were charged US$70 pp to take the "resort course".

Four weeks ago we were charged $200 each for the OW cert with the online work done when we arrived.

Since two of the four figures match the signs, I would think the rest do also.

The snorkel times on the signs were changed to reflect the one trip per day at 2pm instead of the 11 am and 2 pm snorkel trips.

When we were there last week of March, no Hedo bucks any more. As Jake says, they take your name and room number in a notebook- no idea why they changed, very inefficient and way less fun way of doing things.....

ECs told me they have this system because some guests were photocopying the Hedo bucks and distributing them.

I think that's a feeble excuse.

The table with the prizes is seldom active (brief period at some breakfasts) and seldom has anything that anyone would want (heavy bottles of booze that must be packed in check-in luggage) so who cares?

If SC/Hedo were smart they'd be giving away free swag (hats & shirts, etc.) with their names or subtle mktg pitches on it that people would want to wear at home as walking billboards.

Taking home booze of any sort is a pain in the rump-zone anymore, due to those friggin TSA boys.
There was a time when I lugged about 4 liters of tequila back in my carry on.
But no more.
We need to GET RID of the TSA...

Jake, Thanks for sharing your great photos! We've always taken some pictures to help us remember some of our favorite people, places, and things at Hedo. But, to actually make them into a story as you did shows great creativity. It makes your photos unique. Keep up the good work. And, thanks for the play-by-play when you were down there...

Actually, a few years ago Gary and I were lucky enough to get some decent Hedo Swag with our Hedo Moolah. We each got 2 tank tops, bandanas, mini backpacky kinda thing and somethin else. I definitely don't understand either why they don't do that anymore. Maybe they were giving things away too cheaply...........<shrug>

I have too...a long time ago! My best swag was an insulated soft square lunch bag with superclubs hotel logos. I'm thinking that small items like butane lighters, tank tops, baseball caps, even pens and notepads would be used and easily distributed.

I can't imagine that a bottle of rum (what do they pay? Maybe $3-$5 is my totally uneducated guess) is cheaper than any of those items created in bulk.

Several years ago we stayed at Sandals MoBay for 4 nights on a comped trip. I got talking to the GM and the Sales Mgr. and was told that they have such a relationship with Appleton in advertising and promotion of the product, Appleton provides them rum for free!
