Desire Riviera Maya Trip Report - Fred & Trudy: September, 2021
September 4-11, 2021
Ok let’s give this a go.
Just some background. We’ve been visiting Desire RM yearly since 2008.
This year we visited during Delta outbreak. Flight down on JetBlue was full as was immigration. Kept the masks on until exit. Online immigration form done prior to visit and printed out. No problem. Health questionnaire never looked at or asked for.
Private transfer to resort no problem. Checking in was easy then up to room. Resort was almost full on the labor day weekend. Recent storm had done some damage to beach. Unfortunately Desire is fighting the ocean and losing. The beach has receded by about 70% compared with 2008. If u ignore the seaweed it’s still beautiful.
Room was clean and pleasant. Pool area crowded due to loss of beach beds. Only 6 left standing. Lounge chairs have replaced them.
As usual the guests and staff are the best part of the trip. Just fun at every turn day and night or can just chill. Adult Disneyland is still the theme. The fastest week of the year.
COVID testing 3 days prior to home was no problem at resort. Charged to credit card. Negative results in 2 hrs. Airport home was very busy. The airline looks at testing. Digital results on phone no problem. Delayed at security due to ridiculous Mexican health exit form. No paper available so had to do it online. Check expiration date if you have completed on line prior. Internet service was poor so it took 20 minutes to fill out one page stating you have no symptoms. ( not sure who would claim symptoms at this point??).
This vacation never gets old even though we do!
