Dana - October, 2013

First let me say that this trip to RM would not have happened if they had not shut down Cabo Desire.
We fell in love with Cabo Desire years ago and had scheduled a trip over Halloween but was transferred to Desire Cancun or Pearl, our choice.  We chose RM.

I will not go into the travel part of the trip as it all depends on the day, weather etc etc etc.

Our arrival started with a short ride down a long road.  The arrival road is in a much needed state of repair with barely enough room for the vans and buses to pass.  Just short of the entrance to Desire, we were stopped on the road for a short period while we waited for a Saltwater Crocodile to make its way across the road.  WELCOME to Desire RM!!   Total trip time from airport ~20 minutes.

Rooms are very roomy.  The standard rooms are smaller and also are on the front side of the hotel and face the swamp.

Just another comment to those that have looked at the pictures that are of this resort under the Trip Resort section that was posted Sep 2003.  Don't bother as I guess numerous hurricanes have made those pictures totally obsolete as the lobby pool no longer exist, the beach looks totally different and the restaurant names have changed.  I have sent Denny some new pics.

The hotel was booked for our stay.  I would guess the average age to be some where around 40-50.  The pool during the day was the happening place and the entertainment staff kept it busy.  Around 4:30 or so, the crowd moved to the hot tube which was VERY crowded.  At times, there was no place to sit on the side of the hot tube and very little standing room.  Lots of fun.  The main pool is good size, water just right.  Only negative is that there was no swim up bar.  Silvia works the edge of the pool and I have never seen anyone work so hard as she does.  Super service!

I will not go into the quality of the food at Desire RM other than say it was nothing short of OUTSTANDING!   I will say that there is no comparison to that of Hedo.  I thought Hedo food was very substandard to say this least.  Desire food, no matter where you decide to eat is simply outstanding.  We ate at the Japanese  Restaurant, the buffet and our favorite as it turned out had only been open for a couple of days, The SAHLO.  The food was beyond outstanding and not only was the taste fantastic, the presentation was 5 Star!  Large screen TV's to watch very classy burlesque while eating was also a very classy touch!

The only negative comments that were heard were pretty much the same.  Pool needs swim up bar, hot tube too small, bigger fans around main bar as it was humid and calm and the Disco got a little warm after the dancing started.

We thought Desire was a little pricey but when you get the service that you do and the quality of everything, it is money well spent.  That has been the reason for not returning to Hedo as it was tired of feeling ripped off.  Not at Desire!

In closing, we did get ran off the beach at 2am as the guard mentioned that we should be careful as the saltwater crocs like to migrate to the ocean from the swap at night.  The Staff at Desire indicated that Desire management is looking for another resort in Cabo to open.  Let's hope so!!
