Michael & Jill - December, 2010
December 18-25, 2010
We have been back to reality for a couple weeks now, from an incredible trip to Desire resort in Cancun, MX. Wow, where to start?
Jill and I have travelled a lot. Been to numerous clothing optional resorts, and even did a couple of trips to Hedo 3. But this little resort in Mexico just blew away all of our earlier experiences. Desire is just the right size for us. Smaller than Hedo, and very much more refined.
Things we liked:
· Rooms were wonderful, even the less expensive ones. Simple, clean, and comfortable. Saw a couple of the fancier rooms, like Jacuzzi suites and passion suites. Very nice, but more than we needed. Were never in our room but to sleep.
· Grounds were in excellent condition and constantly manicured. What a lovely setting for this fun resort.
· Food was so much better than we had expected. Excellent meals at all 3 restaurants. Portions at Japanese and Italian restaurants are tiny, so order lots of food.
· Please try the Mayan Coffee at least once. What a fiery presentation!!! What a yummy was to enjoy a cup of coffee after dinner.
· Service staff were out of this world. So very friendly and helpful. The EC staff was hilarious, and unstoppable. Loved that the EC girls went topless in the pool and during volleyball.
· Daytime was a little more laid back than Hedo … lots to do if you want it … nothing to do, it that is your plan.
· Beach volleyball each morning and afternoon was the highlight of our day. Very fun, and not too competitive to make it crazy. Well, maybe a little bit. But waaaaaay fun.
· Pool was very nice, with perfect temp. Kept extremely clean.
· Bars served very good liquor and the bar staff were on top of things always. Very little wait, if any.
· Loved the platform beds on the beach. Nice way to spend some quality time in the sun.
· Each night, after dinner, there is a little entertainment in the courtyard by front office. Band, dancing, some contests. Fun stuff, and nice to hang out in the hanging beds in the area.
· Disco is very fun … music is not so loud and you can actually have a conversation. Nice to have the pole on the dancefloor, where it is used often through the night. Good range of music too, as opposed to Hedo.
· Younger crowd than I had expected. Guessing average age was in mid 30s. Some older, some younger … but lots of 30-somethings.
· The overall fitness level of the crowd was very good. Very lean and fit guests. Nice to look at … Of course, this is probably just the week we were there. Results may vary.
· Upstairs Jacuzzi area was the place to be from 4 – 6pm each evening. Great place to meet people and lots of swingers hooking up there. Lots and lots of activity there. Good bar too.
· Fun room … Sin Room … whatever you call it. Nice place to visit if you are feeling adventurous. But be forewarned, just about anything goes there … so be prepared.
· Gotta try the sex swing in the Sin Room. Wooo hoooooooooo …. ‘nuf said.
· Late at night, near the main bar in courtyard, a family of some sort of raccoon comes out and begs near the bar. Seem very tame, but use caution. Still, kind of a fun memory, feeding the critters pizza crust at 2am.
· Never got sick on anything I ate or drank at the resort, and know of no one there that did. I did get a bug I took home with me after eating offsite during an excursion, but that was my own fault.
Things that could have been better:
· Hard to get a chair to sit in around the pool, unless you were willing to get there around 6am to get a good assignment. This is something that needs work. Not a good experience.
· There is a premium membership at this resort. And once you see the premies get waited on, it makes you feel like a second class citizen. I guess you get what you pay for, but this was negative to us.
· Beach was a little on the small side, with lots of rocks poking through the sand. Watch your toes.
· Sin room was smaller than I had expected. Several nights we went in an there was no room anywhere to play, unless you were invited to join someone else. Could be larger or reconfigured.
· Theme nights change unexpectedly so it makes it hard to know what to bring. Don’t count on their website to be accurate. Kind of frustrating… but we had fun anyways.
Our overall feeling and opinion of Desire is very positive. We will go back, and I hope soon. Like anyplace of this sort, you get out of the experience only what you put into it. If you want the time of your life, get involved in the games, activities, and theme nights. Get out of your comfort zone and have some fun. You will leave this place with regrets only about the things you didn’t try or do.
Lastly, make friends fast … it is easy. Walk up and say “hi” and you are on your way. We loved spending time with our good new friends, Neil and Heather. Also brits Neil and Kate, and “Sir John” and Bridgette. Also enjoyed dining with “Chuck Norris” and his wife … inside joke.
