Kurt & Anne - January, 2010
We made our
first visit to Desire Cancun in mid-January 2010. We had
been to Hedo II in January 2009 and had a wonderful time.
Some friends recommended we try Desire this year and we were not
disappointed. Desire resort is located about 15 miles south of the Cancun airport right on the coast. The resort is very clean and well maintained, and in better condition than Hedo II. Our room had an ocean view and also was clean and in good condition, but we only had a queen size bed and the room was somewhat on the small size. We stayed in this room for three nights and then requested an upgrade. After visiting the first and second floor passion suites we opted to transfer to a second floor suite in building 11. Wow, this room was absolutely fabulous! Spacious, luxurious, king size bed, Jacuzzi tub, big balcony with a wonderful ocean view. The passion suites have butlers assigned to assist guests and our butlers, Gustavo and Rafael, arranged for whatever we wanted. The ocean view room at Desire was in better condition, although a little smaller, than the ocean view room we had at Hedo II (which was right next to the nude side Jacuzzi), and the passion suite was much, much nicer. Hedo II was less expensive than Desire, particularly after we upgraded to the passion suite. Our passion suite was next to the pool and we spent the remaining 5 days sunning and swimming in the pool. The water temperature in the pool was fine - generally we both like water that is on the warmer side - and the daily activities around the pool area were entertaining. The roof top Jacuzzi hot tub was undergoing repairs for several days during our visit. The resort opened a couple of Jacuzzi suites for all guests to use these hot tubs while the repairs were being made. The roof top Jacuzzi was a lot of fun, both when it was busy and when it was not. All of the food that we tried at Desire was great. We sampled a number of things at each meal and have no complaints at all about any of the meals, the food selection, or any of the liquor at the resort. We primarily ate at the buffet for dinner and the pool bar/restaurant for lunch. We looked forward to all of the meals. I think we each put on several pounds during our visit. We both liked the meals and Jamaican food at Hedo II. One thing we noticed last year at Hedo II was that some food on the buffet line would be gone before we arrived and not replenished. We never saw this at Desire ... there was always plenty of food when we were there. Overall, we think the food and service at Desire was better than Hedo II. All of the staff at Desire, including bartenders, waiters, and spa help, were very friendly, had wonderful attitudes, and we have absolutely no complaints at all about service. We both thought that the staff at Desire was better than Hedo II. We both liked the beach at Hedo II more than Desire. The Hedo II beach is cozy and the water wonderful for just floating and relaxing. The nude side pool at Hedo II was always too cold for us to use - we had no such problem at Desire. We never used any of the pools at Hedo II. We noticed that many guests at Desire remained in clothes or swim suits except at the pool, beach and roof top Jacuzzi. We both liked the more widespread nudity on the ‘nude side’ at Hedo II. Perhaps this was just the group that was at Desire when we were there. The women, much more so than the men, were partially clothed or in sexy attire during evening activities and in the club at night. Hedo II had a more sexual edge, with PDA in multiple places, whereas Desire was more sensual, erotic, with PDA confined primarily to the roof top Jacuzzi area. We both liked the sexual edge at Hedo II more than Desire. We will be happy to return to either resort. Our plan now is to make the next trip during the spring or summer with one of the groups and see what its like. |
