Jerry & Liz - June, 2010
June 2010 – Trip Report
Greetings
everyone. We are Liz and Jerry
and we just returned from Desire Cancun.
This was our second trip and our stay was June 15 – 20,
2010. Overall, the trip
was fantastic! We loved meeting
new friends. We booked through Denny P. and we are so glad we did!
Thanks Denny!
We actually
arrived in Cancun on June 14 and stayed at the Marriott Hotel on the beach.
What a fantastic hotel this is.
Long wide beaches and a gigantic pool.
A great place to stay.
Upon arrival at the Cancun Airport we easily went through customs.
After getting our luggage we proceeded to exit the airport where we
were assaulted by the “blue shirt” guys and a host of other cabbies wanting
our business. Tip for newbies to
Cancun: Completely ignore
the blue shirt guys that come up to you and ask you where you are going.
They are there to sell you on something.
Just keep on walking past them.
The same applies to Cab Drivers. They will be very aggressive! Cabs
don’t run on meters and they charge you whatever you negotiate.
It is best if the travel company you booked with provides you with a
voucher for a ride to/from Desire.
In this case you will exit the airport and a cabbie will be holding a
sign with your name.
We arrived
at Desire at around noon on Tuesday.
Check –in was smooth and we enjoyed the cool hand towel and drink.
We were assigned room
1007 and as soon as we arrived in the room we knew that it was unacceptable.
Normally we don’t care a wit about our room.
But this particular room – and those few next to it
opened to the OUTSIDE of the resort on the entry road.
This meant that we had to enter and exit our room fully clothed and
make a short trip down a path, through a gate before we were “in Desire”.
We asked for and got transferred to another garden view room.
1007 by the way is not “Garden View” – it is “Entry Street View”.
Management should charge less to rent these rooms in our opinion.
At about 1
PM we went to the Pool, easily got a pool bed in the shade and then headed
over for lunch. We then spent a
few hours in the pool where we immediately met at least ½ dozen couples
- great people!! That is
the great thing about Desire!
We relaxed
for a few hours then about 6 PM we headed up to the Jacuzzi for a drink and
soak. The Jacuzzi was rather
hot. So much so, that we could
only stay in it for a little while.
The last two days the temperature moderated and we could stay in much
longer. The people at the
Jacuzzi were great and the bartenders kept us supplied often with drinks.
It appeared that there were more “top shelf” brands to choose from.
A big shout out to Joel at the Jacuzzi bar for a job well done!
As dusk arrived my wife and I decided to spend some “quality time” on
one of the Jacuzzi beds…side-by-side with others on the beds.
What a romantic/hot atmosphere!
Big
complaint here: The bed
mattresses in the Jacuzzi are in desperate need of replacement.
It felt like making love on the concrete.
We had a
great dinner in the main café. We then headed back to the lobby area to chat
and watch the beautiful ladies get their bodies painted.
Where else can one kick back with a drink and watch naked ladies get
painted!?
There was
entertainment every night in the Lobby Area before the Disco opened and – we
have to say – the entertainment was TOP NOTCH!
We enjoyed every night a lot.
While we were there it appeared that there was a couple that had a
hard time holding their alcohol and who enjoyed sexually displaying
themselves at what seemed like
inappropriate times (Yes, even at Desire there is a time and a place)
– but thankfully it was only for one night that we saw.
Those of you who were there know what I am talking about.
The theme
nights were great – although it appeared that only about 50% of the people
participated. But all is cool at
Desire. Eyes Wide Shut is a
little more daring this year compared to last year – but it too was a blast.
The music in the disco is a VAST improvement over last year!!!
I can’t say this enough!
My wife and I danced a lot because the music was finally danceable.
The Disco and Playroom or “Sin
Room”.
Previous Desire guest will
have a hard time recognizing the new Disco. What an incredible improvement.
It is now a “classy” club type atmosphere with a lighted dancing
floor, beds and tables everywhere and a big circular bar at the end where
the old playroom was. The “Sin”
room is all class! My wife did
not like the old playroom as it looked and smelled like the basement of a
dingy adult book store. The new
Sin room is classy. Dimly lit
but enough light, very comfortable beds for 2, 3 or moresomes.
And best of all is the new “sex swing”.
My wife and I are now convinced that we MUST get a sex swing at home!
Don’t pass up this gem if you get to Desire.
If you are shy, try going up to the Disco as soon as it opens when
nobody is around yet. Our
only complaint about the “sin” room is the loudness of the people coming
into the room and forgetting to close the door to the loud Disco area.
People – listen up – when you
decide to go into the Sin room please lower your voices a little, at least
below shouting level.
General
opinion on things:
Staff: Great and very
attentive. They
work hard to make your stay pleasant
Beach beds/Pool Beds:
We got a beach bed each morning and a pool bed each afternoon.
No problems. And I
believe the resort was at full capacity.
Booze: Great
selections…better drinks this time around
Games/Entertainment:
Hot – Hot – Hot! Body shots,
jello shots, pool games nightly entertainment…all great and top notch!
Food:
Seemed to be an improvement over last year.
All very good. The “Steak
and Lobster” in the fancy restaurant was incredible.
Only $40 for a 2lb lobster tail and a large filet.
A great deal.
Matilda makes the best breakfast omelets.
Rooms:
Simple and
sparse..Not ENOUGH power outlets.
But hey, you are only in your room for sleep and sex. Occasionally
the Key cards would not function..don’t know what wa sup with that.
Wireless internet did not reach the rooms.
We had to go to Lobby area for that.
This could be an area for improvement
People:
The best part about
Desire is the people you meet.
You know who you are! I would
encourage anyone considering a Desire Vacation to go.
It is so easy to meet people even if you are shy.
There is a
lot more we could write about but we will leave it for a later time.
It was a great vacation and we look forward to being at Desire next
year!
