Mike & Barbara - May, 2008

Trip Report- 5-17/ 5/25 2008- with the YNOT’s

After a dozen trips to Desire we have developed our own set of criteria for what makes a really great trip. How were your fellow quests- were there a lot of good people you enjoyed socializing with ? How were the facilities- were the rooms, service, food, maintenance, and entertainment up to the standards we expect ? How was the party- was the energy level high, did the party start early-stay late- and get onery ? And finally, of course, how was the “adult fun” environment- this is Desire after all !
We have yet to have the “perfect” Desire vacation where we could say each part rated at 10, but trips like this one that come close in many ways are what keep us coming back.
Fellow guests: What can we say. The Ynots are just fantastic people. Many are old friends but others we met for the first time and by the end of the week they too felt like part of a family (a naughty family- but family none the less.) Wayne and I, with some 25 Desire trips between us agreed that we had never seen a large group of people who seemed to fit together so well and enjoy each others company so much. At meals and in the early evening hours there were always group of Ynots together that grew larger and larger. The stories were fantastic, and we laughed till we cried.
The facilities:
On the good side- the resort continues to put money back into upgrades. There are now 47 beach beds. There are around the same number of fantastic new PADDED pool chairs and half a dozen clam shaped pool side beds. More umbrellas have been added. The roof has been extended over all of the pool side restaurant now so that it can all be used in the rain- and for lunch time shade. Plants and trees have been added all over the resort- the place looks like it did originally before the hurricanes. Room upgrades are almost complete. Flat screen TV’s and more clothes storage in many of the rooms where that was a problem. Upgrades are underway or completed to the lobby face and the lobby bar. Everything looks fantastic. We found the food to be excellent all the way around. Barbara- the insect magnet- did not have a single bite all week. The entertainment staff- if they continue to stay together- is excellent, approaching the level Desire had back in 04/05 when Silvina and JJ were doing the job. Diana- new since our last trip in January- is fantastic. We know how hard it is to find and keep ladies in the job but she fits like a glove. Outgoing, not modest in the least, and cute as a button.
(sorry entertainment staff guys- you are all very good- but just not that cute !) The early evening entertainment in the lobby common area was excellent most nights. As usual,
sex under the stars in the hot tub beds is hard to beat and the resort continues to offer outstanding opportunities and venues for adult activities in general. Ron & Nicol’s wedding turned out beautifully and was very well done.
Management was gracious in the face of some extra pressures that they may have had to face because of the presence of a group like ours and because of some other issues that came up. Special thanks to Silvina for helping us set up some special activities for the group in advance- we had a great time with the gift exchange, nude cat cruise, and the pole dancing lessons. And we want to recognize the continued great service we received from some of our old friends on the staff- Rafael, Arcos, Edgar, Carlos, Leo, Memo, and Silvia to name a few.
On the negative side: The disco. We always go every night. And there has always been a problem getting the DJ to play what the crowd wants. But this time was by far the worst ever. The DJ was non responsive despite repeated pleas, and despite the fact that people were not dancing and that people- including us- tended to stay only a short time after the nightly contest. Worst trip ever for the disco- worst song selection, worst guest satisfaction. The entertainment in the lobby common area each early evening was very good, but we would ask that you turn down the volume a bit. This is an area and time for socializing as well as being entertained. Even in the Gazebo, when the bands were playing it was often almost impossible to talk. And since the problems with the disco continue, a huge majority of the guests would love it if the resort would keep that lobby area entertainment going until midnight or so. At one time a piano bar was to be opened because the resort understood there needed to be an alternative to the disco. We need that now more than ever ! At the current price levels it doesn’t seem to be too much to expect to have entertainment that the majority of the people can enjoy for 3 or 4 hours a night. There has continued to be a large staff turnover- even since January we have noticed many new faces. Although the veterans are fantastic, too many of these newcomers were not at all up to Desire standards and the service level- while certainly better than a Hedo for example- was less than up to expectations. We have asked before and would ask again: put your best bartenders in the most important/visible positions. We had inexperienced bartenders who couldn’t keep up at the lobby at nights all week when the really talented and entertaining guys were tied up at the hot tub or disco. The air conditioner in our room wasn’t working when we arrived. After a day we called for repair. They came quickly. However, after they left the room was cool but water was dripping on the floor. 2 calls and trips later that problem persisted but we just gave up and dealt with it. I’d suggest when you send someone for repairs you follow up with a message asking if the repairs are satisfactory. I am not ignoring a couple other negative issues that up during the week, but we were not involved directly in those and we’ll leave any comments to those who were.
The party: The party atmosphere and activities are all up to the guests. We did have a lot of fun, but yes, we could have had more. Next time this group gets together watch out because the party is going all out !
The adult activities environment : priceless. But that’s all we’ll say about that.

All in all a great trip- one that we will never forget. Thanks to you special people- you know who you are- who made our trip great and we really don’t don’t how we are going to survive the wait till we all get together again ! Those of our old friends who didn’t make it this time- we missed you and we’ll look for you next time.
