Brian & Jules – July 2008
Trip Report 7/12/08 thru 7/18/08
Travel:
(Like anyone cares) Flew USAir out of
We are there! YAY! We are here, we are so excited AND it’s my Birthday! Excellent…….and then the HUGE buzz kill……poor Oscar that works at the front desk informed us that Lifestyles Travel had not sent our payment we paid them 3 months earlier and told us in order to stay we would have to pay again! WHAT? Am I being punked? Sadly, no. Happy Birthday Jules! So after sitting there with my mouth hanging to the ground for a minute or so, we pulled out our AMEX and paid AGAIN. Yeah, that made my butt hurt if you know what I mean! (We have just been notified 2 months later by AMEX that they were able to get our entire first payment refunded….WHEW! That was a scare!) Then I can’t believe they had the nerve to try the timeshare crap on us after all that. The chick doing the “begging” was very nice and tried her hardest to get us to eat breakfast with one of the staff the next morning. Had I not read about this in earlier trip reports, I would have fallen for it. That’s how nice she was. I just asked her straight up was the breakfast to discuss timeshares and she skated around the answer which finally was yes. Waste of my time and I didn’t really appreciate it especially after I had lost my sense of humor! Try to drink SEVERAL beers and recover from the surprise at check-in. We arrived at 10:30 and our room wasn’t ready until around 2p. Excellent room #1701…love it! Off the beaten path and very quiet. Throw off those yucky clothes and head to the pool for more drinks.
The food.... This was our 3rd trip and I have to be honest, the food didn’t seem to be as good as past trips. It was fine but nothing special I guess. Kind of disappointed there, we’ve always loved the food. Trying to keep up with what restaurant is open on what night and which ones you have to wear pants at was just a little much if you ask me. We did eat Japanese one night and wow, what service! Excellent, make sure you try it before you leave. Of course I have always loved and probably will always love the pizza they serve late at night at the lobby bar. Two words, YUM EE, but in all honesty I might have eaten cardboard at the time and thought it was gourmet food! I’m not exactly sober at that time.
Beach:
The beach was lovely and very clean I thought. They still have a
man picking up the seaweed that washed ashore every morning off of the
beach. It’s just a little rocky upon entering but a few steps in
and the rocks are gone. We
could not believe how calm the water was, like glass!
We wished we had taken our rafts.
Ocean has never been THAT calm on trips we had taken there
previously in the spring time.
Pool: Here’s another dose of honesty, the pool was NOT clean. Not sure what the problem was because on past trips it has always been VERY clean, I was very surprised by this. It was dirty every single day we were there and I was not the only person that noticed it. Although I do not participate, the pool games were a lot of fun. The people watching the games were just as entertained as the people playing the games.
Entertainment staff: They really try hard to get people to have fun and participate so I
can’t say anything bad about the entertainment staff.
One thing that was different, the staff girls went
topless, I had never seen that at Desire
before. Made me feel like
they were more like one of us!
We used to go to Desire when JJ, Nino & Sal were around and,
well, there will never be entertainment like those 3.
Disco: mmmmm..........not really all that impressed with the disco and never have been. NOTHING has changed in that department. I can’t say it was bad, but playing the same old music every single night did get kind of old. Although I would like to mention the bartender was AWSOME! Best I have ever seen.
Secret Room: Can’t comment on this room this time around, I did not even step foot in it.
Hot Tub:
STILL the selling feature for Desire.
I will never tire of the view from the roof top Jacuzzi and the
palapas at night.
So romantic and so fun.
LOVE IT!
The
Staff: I give them a 10 all
the way, every single one of them! Very nice, friendly & so VERY
accommodating! I felt so bad for Oscar having to deliver the bad
news to all the Lifestyle Travel guests.
Also would like to mention Cid the guy that signs you up for your
beach beds every morning.
Great guy, excellent service.
This is the first time we have travelled
to Desire with just each other.
We usually go with DennyP’s WWW group every year, but the dates
just don’t work for us anymore with our son playing sports year round.
It was a good but different experience,
I have to say I like travelling with AND without a group.
We met a great bunch of people this time around and were happy to
make new friends but we also missed our old friends we are used to
seeing there. This was
probably the most romantic vacation we have had together so we came home
fulfilled, as usual.
All in all we found Desire to be wonderful and have just the right sexually charged atmosphere. I would recommend this to lifestylers, non-lifestylers and nudists. The one thing you need the most to have a good time here is an OPEN MIND! The people in attendance were from all parts of the world and a mix of everything and it just seems to even out perfectly to make it a fun place to be.
