Jerri & Gary Desire Cancun 4/1-4/8/07
This was our 2nd trip to Desire & it is just as good or better than before. Desire is Gary's favorite & H2 is my favorite vaca spot. Each place excels in different ways.
We had a long red eye flight in with layover in Dallas. Typical lines @ immigration. I booked transfers with Loomis travel, when we were waiting for transportation they keep telling us we were waiting for the Mexican Limo - I was picturing a Donkey or worse. Shortly a Silver stretch Lincoln limo picked just us up & wisked us to Desire, same on our was home for only $70.00. Thank you travel gods!
We are action junkies out of the eight days vaca, 3 days we spent at the resort. We booked online the zip line tour with mountain bike ride & swimming (note to self, no Tequila's the night before).
Thru AquaWorld we did the Jungle tour, jetski rental & parasailing. FYI no 5 point harness, no seatbelts just a 'hammock' attached to the parashut, do not ask to get wet. The hammock acts as a shovel as you hit the water & a large wave drowns you.
We took a cab into Cancun & went shopping one day, I suggest Mercado 28 an great open air market that lets you bargain. The Luxury Ave mall we first went to was just an expensive mall like in the states with Gucci, Prada, Tiffany's, Guess & stuff like that.
Lastly we did the Maroma speed boat, ATV combo trip. What a blast! If you're an experienced rider make sure to get in the front right behind guide. Otherwise you get trapped behind the idiot that can't figure out how to shift & your left in the dust. OH, & our course rent your own quad, sharing sucks. The speed boats are beat up but they go probably 35 in a little 10' boat & its a fun wet ride.
We participated in all the activities at the resort; volleyball, water polo, beer pong, body painting, casino night, bingo, trivia, theme nights & more. We suggest everyone get involved in the activities, they are all fun & a great way to get to know people. We WON the 3 day 2 night trip to Desire Cabo in the drawing from all the tickets we got in the contests. We won 5 TShirts, we keep 2 & gave the rest away.
The weather was perfect mid to upper 80's everyday. There was a problem with people getting bit by the Sand flees, mostly after dusk on the beach.
We met some terrific people, lots of laughs & made some lasting friendships. Thanks to everyone for making our trip special. The Desire staff was Fantastic, no waits, polite & very attentive.
A couple suggestions for the resort, no complaints; Get a Tankless water heater for hot tub shower, a lot more fun would be had if there was warm water. You need a nightime activity each night &/or a piano bar. People scatter & get a little bored from after dinner until the disco opens. More naked games such as Naked Twister, Find your Mate & so on.
