Davis - March, 2007

This will be an incredibly long trip report, so pardon me in advance for my long windedness.  First off all let me state that we were “newbies” to the Desire experience.  We are in the lifestyle and have been for years but this was our first trip to a resort of this type. I wish we would have found it sooner!  If you are looking for a quick take on our 10 day experience so as not to have to read all the details of this report, then I can only say it was absolutely the BEST vacation we have EVER had in over 16 years of marriage and traveling together.  Ok, that’s the short version, here’s the details:

I will not go into the regular specifics like the resort’s beauty or upkeep as those issues are all reviewed in other trip reports.  We never had any issues with reserving beds, no real bug problems, the rooms were great, no water pressure issues, etc etc. About the only thing that was an inconvenience is when the lobby bar ran out of Tradicionale Tequila, but a new bottle appeared the very next day!  Instead, this report is designed to give those of you out there who have never been to Desire a “feel” for the resort along with some other tips and how we perceived our first vacation to Paradise.

We spent months counting down, preparing and reading all of the trip reports and getting involved in the forum and a Yahoo group for this trip.  For all of you newbies out there, I cannot recommend more strongly that you join a group if there is one and/or get actively involved in the Desire Forum.  Don’t just lurk in the shadows; post your questions, ask for advice and listen to what the regulars have to say.  I can tell you from personal experience that they are very knowledgeable and their tips made our trip all the more fantastic. (Thank you all…Coke, Ronald, Taz, ArcticCats and all the others who responded to our posts!)  Thank you David for hosting the March Group on Yahoo where we met several couples and had a great time! (PS., thanks for the glow trade for the rafts!  We enjoyed them immensely! And you guys really know how to “light up” a room!  I hope we can see you and M. again as we never really got a chance to get to know you!  And David, thanks, because the Grateful Dead are always appropriate when relaxing on the patio lounges of the Passion Suites!!!!)

The biggest question that is on every newbie’s mind is usually either the nudity or the “action”.  Don’t worry; don’t even fret about it at all.  Yes, you will see all types of bodies; large, small, fit, flabby, etc.  Yes, you will see and have availability to participate in many “activities” if you so choose.  Yes, you may be approached by other couples and yes, No really means No.  My wife was very apprehensive about me getting “nekkid” at the resort as I was pretty uncomfortable at our first nudist day pass experience.  For her it was nothing at all to walk around naked.  But I made a vow that I would not be intimidated again and within 5 minutes of arriving, I was completely unclothed and stayed that way for the entirely of the trip and never once felt uncomfortable at all.  We got into our room with our bags and by the time my wife came out of the bathroom about a minute later, I was naked and standing out in front of our ocean view room admiring the late afternoon view.  As it happens, a beautiful, lithe, completely naked blonde bombshell was walking by as I opened the door stark naked.  A fast flush of embarrassment crept into my mind for about a second until she stopped, turned to me and said “Hi! Nice tan!”  That did it.  I was hooked. (Thanks Dianne!)  From that point forward, I knew that being without clothing was the perfect way to spend a vacation!   It is true what you read on the forum about once you get naked around naked people, there are no apprehensions because there is just you.

Perhaps it was best expressed by one of the couples we met.  You see, in our regular life, I am the shy, reserved one and my wife is the outgoing, talkative one.  However, after a few days, she turned to me and said that she could not believe how different I was at the resort when it came to meeting people and talking to other couples.  Our new friends turned to us and told me, “It’s because you are naked!  With clothes on, you are an introvert, but take off your clothes and everyone becomes equal and an extrovert!”

As far as the “action” at the resort….wow, how can you adequately describe it without being censored?  I can tell you that we met up with many different couples and had the most wonderfully sensual experiences.  On the beds, at the Jacuzzi, on the couches and hanging beds at the lobby bar, in the rooms, in the playroom, on the bar upstairs, etc etc.   In fact, over our 10 days, we met, among others, 5 other total newbie couples (new to everything including nudity, the resort, the lifestyle, etc.) and had a great time “initiating” several of them and then watching them have the times of their lives for several days afterwards!  For those of you in the lifestyle, you will have a seriously good time and for those of you new to the experience or “curious”, this resort is the place to be.  But, you need to make sure that you have your personal ground rules in place, be CERTAIN of that.  One couple we met had not even discussed the issues involved in exploring the lifestyle.  Bad choice.  We politely declined to have “fun” (No means No) with them for that reason and later in the week saw them (and heard them) in a very heated argument about some of these types of issues.  (If you are a newbie and want more details on what I am talking about, check out some lifestyle forums or feel free to email me and I will be happy to answer your questions directly and honestly...my email will be listed at the bottom of this report.)

As for some personal observations, I can say that it was simply incredible to reconnect with my wife over those 10 wonderful days spent lying naked on the beach beds or by the pool.  We met so many incredible couples, both in and out of the lifestyle.  Don’t ever be afraid to say “Hi!” to people when you go there.  We saw several couples who were always sitting off in a corner not talking to anyone and made a point of going up to them and saying “Hello”.  As it turns out, both of them were totally new to the experience, nervous and shy and just needed a tiny bit of encouragement to get into the resort’s activities, talk to other guests and in general, just feel at ease with their surroundings.  We felt it was a total shame that they wasted entire days feeling intimidated or shy when there is absolutely no reason to feel that way at all!

The “feeling” that this resort exudes is total relaxation, fun and sensuality.  During the day, we hung out by the pool or the beach and relaxed while Silvia and/or Memo constantly catered to our needs.  Never needed to ask for a refill, somehow they just magically appeared!  The activities around the pool were fun to watch, especially the tequila water volleyball, and the EC’s were really fun and made the guests feel very welcome! Afternoons we ventured up to the Jacuzzi on most days where there was a feast for the eyes (All I can say is WOW! I want to move to Canada because those Canadians really know how to…um….recreate!)  But I’m quite certain that we also made a spectacle of ourselves as well with chocolate body shots and other “interactions” on top of the bar and in the Jacuzzi!   Don’t miss out on this newbies, get up there in the afternoon and take a chance!  Ask the bartender for the chocolate syrup, use your imagination and have some fun!  It’s a great conversation starter!

The evenings were by far and away the best part.  Ladies, take heed of the Cokeman’s advice, “If the outfit cannot fit in the closed fist of one had, it is too much clothing!”  (or something like that.)  My wife changed twice each night as did almost all the other ladies there.  First was the slinky, revealing, dare not go out in public, “slutwear” dinner attire for a drink or two at the lobby bar and our evening repast at one of the fantastic restaurants, and then it was back to the room after dinner to put on even LESS clothing for the disco.  Mostly negligees, bustiers, camisoles, teddies or theme related extremely revealing outfits that left little if nothing at all to the imagination.  In several instances, even in less clothing than could fit in her closed hand, she was still overdressed compared to others.  But that’s ok, by the end of the evening she was frequently sans clothing altogether by the time we left the disco (as were many other ladies). Gentlemen, do not make the same mistake that several of our new found friends made….be sure to bring long pants and dress shirts for the evening dinners or you will limit your eating ability severely!  To give you an idea, she brought 27 “outfits” for 10 days (wore all but 4) plus about 14 pairs of shoes (too many, as she only wore the spike heels).  Participation in the “theme nights” was about 75% by females and maybe 10% by males as far as costumes or outfits were concerned.  But it didn’t matter, everyone had fun regardless of their attire (or lack thereof)

After closing the disco, you simply must go back to the lobby bar to enjoy the best pizza in the world!  (At least it seems that way after about 10 Capt’n and Cokes and 5 shots of tequila!)  And finally, get rid of all your clothes once again, spray a little bug spray on your thighs, ankles and feet and then stroll down the beach to watch the sunrise and then collapse into bed for a few hours before getting up to do it all again.

While we were there, several Groups arrived.  We found them to be really nice, but they mostly stayed to themselves within the Group.  No problem, as they all seemed to know each other from their SDC groups, and it was evident who was “in” the group and who was not if you know what I mean.  We met several of the couples and shared some good laughs and times.  But we mostly met other couples who were not part of the groups.  I will say that the groups made the days around the pool and the evenings in the disco much more fun with their excitement and willingness to go out on the edge for fun! (Thank you Terri for the incredible “milk dance”…. that one of the most erotic things we have ever seen!)  After the groups left, the resort’s mood was significantly mellower and low keyed.  So we got to experience the crazy excitement of a group and the relaxed atmosphere as well.  Both were welcome experiences.

Now, this is already way too long, but there are a couple other items that still must be addressed.  The first is Claudia’s Couples massage.  This is something that you MUST do.  Book her as soon as you book your trip because she is so popular that she rarely has openings. Hers is truly an “experience of a lifetime”.  It is almost an unwritten code not to describe it in detail, so I shall not.  I will say however, that if you want to experience the most sensual, erotic, powerful energy of your life, Claudia is the one.  Her two hour plus massage incorporates both partners, teaches you how to connect with inner energy and sensations you may never have known existed and leaves you (at least it did me) literally quivering on the table unable to move for 15 minutes after she was done.  While everyone’s experience with Claudia is undoubtedly different, ours was quite honestly, breathtakingly sensual and fulfilling and one of two “out of body experiences” I have personally enjoyed.  Remember, this is NOT the resort’s couple’s massage; she is offsite in Puerto Morelos.  Just search the forum….you’ll find info on her.

And some recommendations:

Rooms – we stayed 8 nights in 1601 – Ocean View Jacuzzi – great room about 20 feet from the sand – request it if you can! (1602 is just as good)  And then we spent 2 nights in 1102 – Passion Suite – again a spectacular room, best of all it comes with Rafael!  When we go again, we will probably opt for just a regular ocean view since, while we tried to use the Jacuzzi in both suites, well, let’s just say that we always seemed to get side tracked by the poster beds and never quite made it into the jacuzzi in the room at night.  (Sorry for wasting the water guys, but our intentions were there…really!)

Get an over the door shoe organizer at Walmart….storage space is a premium in all rooms and that thing came in very handy for extra storage.  Thanks to whoever suggested that on the forum.

Again, join a Yahoo group and/or participate in the forum.  Great advice and great friends can be found there!

Look seriously at what you are packing….you will be packing too much.  Men, I recommend one bathing suit and a couple of t-shirts and long dress pants and short sleeved shirts for the nights unless you are participating in the themes.  You will only wear the suit and t-shirts to walk into breakfast and get lunch at the buffet.  All other clothing will just sit in your suitcase like it did mine.  Women, less is more.  Period. Don’t bother with a bunch of different bathing suits for the day.  Just grab one or two, a couple sarongs and tops to wear to the buffet.   At night, no matter what your body style, flaunt it, enjoy it, and show it off for dinner and the disco.  This resort is all about you ladies and every guy and lady there knows it.  Shop for stuff that would get you immediately arrested for indecent exposure if you stepped out of your house wearing it; and then wear it with pride!  Your husband or significant other will love you for it (and so will everyone else!)

If you are “curious”, have your ground rules firmly established, and want to see what something (or someone) is like, go to the lobby bar before dinner or after the disco and have a few drinks, then compliment a lovely lady on her outfit and let the conversation take its course.  You will quickly find that there are many wonderful couples there who were newbies once just like you and will be honest and open about their experiences.  And you will undoubtedly at the very least make new friends but quite possibly make intimate acquaintances as well, we certainly did!  If you are not interested in the lifestyle aspect of the resort at all, it doesn’t matter either….you can still meet wonderful people who will never pressure you or try to impose on your inclinations.

Do not schedule anything other than Claudia during your stay until you get there and experience the resort.  You can book anything you want at the resort’s concierge desk, but take my word for it, you won’t.

Bring some extra cash for tips.  You will find that the staff, to a person, is so incredibly wonderful, accommodating and unbelievable that you will want to tip them (and they richly deserve it too!)  Yes, it is an “all-inclusive” resort, but honestly when you experience that level of service, you will regret it if you didn’t bring some extra cash to reward the simply exceptional service you will receive.

Bring a couple of those cheap, blowup pool floaties.  Then leave them there when you leave for other guests to enjoy!

Participate in the daily contests and activities, it’s a great way to make new friends and the EC’s will love you for it!  It doesn’t matter if you are good at it or not, just play!

Hit the tanning booth before you go if you at all can.  The sun is intense and you do not want to ruin your first few days by becoming a lobster!  Sunscreen multiple times each day!

If you like seafood, do not miss the seafood buffet…simply incredible!

Some recommendations for the Resort:

Please Silvina, tell your maintenance staff to watch the temperature of the spa…wow, a couple of days there it must have been over 105-106…way too hot to enjoy! (The hangydown parts felt like soft boiled eggs after a few minutes in there and everyone ended up sitting up on the edges to prevent scorching of their delicates!)  And maybe turn the volume level down just a little bit in the disco…the music was great, good variety and any requests where gladly accommodated, but several nights it was just so loud that you simply could not talk to anyone without screaming at the top of your lungs!  Other than that I can think of nothing even remotely negative to say about the entire experience we had.

Staff:  Ivan at the lobby bar is the “best bartender in the world”  And Carmen is a very close second.  Silvia and Edgar at the pool and Memo on the beach are wonderful and work extremely hard to make you comfortable and never thirsty.  Rafael, the butler, what can we say….you sir should give lessons to American resorts on the “art” of total customer service.  Pablo, the chef, and the waiters at the Japanese hibachi grill, wow, what a performance!  And if I could remember all of the other names of the staff we interacted with, I’d list them as well!

And finally, to all our new friends that we met.  D & P from Florida, you quite simply made our trip.  M & D from San Diego, you are the coolest neighbors.  K & G from Portland, kindred souls, we shall miss you.  C & P from New York, D and “the Dawg” from New Jersey, long live the Group (nicey nice!)! And to our newbie friends, Michael and M, the world travelers (write us Michael, I need that info you promised for our next trip!), B and V from Tucson (wild girl!), C and K from Wisconsin (be careful of the quite ones! “She’s moving!”…“I’m out!”), and all the rest of you guys in that Florida meets Texas SDC group and around the pool that helped make this our best vacation ever, thank you for just being you.  I’m sure we’ll be seeing you again as we intend to go back as often as possible!

Ok, I could go on and on…but I think you get the idea!
