Desire Resort-Rookie Trip Report
July 10-17

Traveling to the resort was a breeze.  Only 20 minutes to the resort and another 5 minutes for check in and then we were sent off with
Champagne to our room. I had requested a quiet room with a big bed due to my light sleeping.  One staff member said they would try but couldn't guarantee it, another said it was done.  It was done. We got a room in block 25, 3 doors down from the other resort. Unlike Hedo, when you are placed at the furthest room it is a 10-minute walk to the nude pool; this resort is a 30 second walk to the nude pool, and 2 steps from the beach.  Although we caught a lot of crap from other guests about being so far away, "mine as well stay at the other resort, do you get your room cleaned down there" it was paradise for me!!

The room was great, King bed, huge bathroom, dehumidifier-what a PLUS!! Even though every time we showered we also soaked down the bathroom, it was dry by the time we came back to the room. The dehumidifier really keeps the room cool and dry. What a great idea.  The shower was a great concept gone bad.  There is no door or curtain just an open space that when you moved around water shot out all over the bathroom. We did have great pressure and always had hot water, that's what we get for being in that last block of rooms!! Lupita, our maid always had our room cleaned by 11.  I think she started at that end of the resort. Again that is what we get for being in that last block of rooms.

The resort itself is small, beautiful and well kept. Plenty of space on the beach, pool or pier to lay out.  We stayed on the pier till mid afternoon then moved to the pool to mingle.  On the beach they have blue flags stuck in the sand that you can use to order drinks when needed, on the pier you had to get them yourself or hope he'd stop by. I suggest some type of flag on a pole to rise when you need a drink. Or how about a Walkie-talkie, then he wouldn't have to make 2 trips?? Otherwise anytime we went to get a drink, we were always served quickly and with a smile or a joke.  These guys work their butts off!!  The cups and plates were frequently cleaned up around the pool, and we enjoyed watching how high they could stack them. We frequently applauded when the stack was high. It doesn't take much to entertain us.

When we read about the variety of people that go to Desire it was about 50/50 those who swing and those who don't. This trip was much higher than that (on the swinger side). At times we didn't know who belonged to whom. Others agreed and gave us some tips. We do not swing and fairly new to being exposed to the lifestyle. It took a couple of times of us being uncomfortable until we learned that it was OK to say "no."  We always worried about offending someone. But we learned that we should have said it early on, and people were extremely respectful. Since the resort is so small, eventually word got out and we had a blast. Most sexual activities either took place at the hot tub or in the beds around it. For those who really wonder about this, it's not like a porn movie where it is up close. You see a few heads bobbing, or bodies moving up and down, and that's about it.

The staff was fabulous. And you didn't need to be a repeater to realize this. This is really where they exceeded Hedo. At Hedo I felt staff didn't have time for you unless you’re a repeater, we rarely saw smiles, and noticed many had attitudes. Nino and Andre actually told us stories about their lives as well, and us as well.  Staff ALWAYS smiled and talked to you the best they could.  The EC was a blast. Only one that I noticed daily didn't seem to enjoy her job. Nino always said "I have the best job in the world" and we knew he meant it. We were there during the hurricane evacuation and it was chaos. I remember at one point about 10 of us showed up to the front desk at the same time, and everyone from in back came rushing out to help us, without ever making us feel like we were bothering them, even though each one of us ask the same questions as the one before. This would never happen in
Jamaica.  The front desk staff truly went above and beyond during this crazy time, they couldn't have handled it any better and I commend them all.

Other things to mention: Food was excellent (better than the Lidos and Hedos)-the presentation alone made it look great, the omelet chef is way underpaid!! Who would have thought Mexico would have excellent ribs and pizza??  Ivan is an excellent server-sit in his section!  You have to sign out towel, which I never figured out why.  These aren't the type of towels you would take home. It just made us become towel junkies and we'd collect as many as we could so we'd have some to return in case we were charged.  You also have to wear a wristband, and it's a pain. Never figured out the reason for that. When we checked in I realized that I had forgotten eardrops.  They immediately had the pharmacy drop off some eardrops.  I paid $25 for the delivery to find out later they had the same ones in the gift shop for $5. But since I couldn't read Spanish I had no idea what the heck they were. So remember to bring all your medications!! Bartenders and waiters in the restaurants do get tipped. In fact some have tip jars out-tip them.  At first I thought this was a problem, but when you think about it, they make dollars a day, and won't get fired or create a string of nasty messages on a message board if someone tips. I love the tipping idea; they deserve it!

Phone calls-use the resort code (9) and not the code on the paper tent next to the phone.  We used both and just got our phone bill from the tent. $39 per phone call and they were all under 3 minutes. Using the resort code cost about $2-$3 per minute. I wish there would have been a cost listed on that darn paper tent.

To sum it up-we have officially crossed the border from Jamaica to Mexico. I just hope no one else finds out about this great resort, and that this great resort doesn't become Jamaica.  Keep listening to your guests and you'll always wind up ahead!!
