Trip Report Desire 6-19-06 to 6-25-05
Let me start by saying we have been to Hedo 2 five times, but our last trip there was in 2000. We are not in the Lifestyle, but enjoy a good time. This is our fist trip to Desire and will share our comparisons to Hedo 2.
We booked through Denny and all our reservations went fine. The car picked us up after a long, line through customs and immigration. We had a 30 minute wait. We were just about to get our own taxi when Jim (yes I know San Antonio beat my Pistons) and Tanna, and Billy and Cindy showed up. Little did we know we were destined to make friends with these great people from Texas. The ride to the resort was short by Jamaica standards. We were met at check in with champagne, check in went quickly and we were out at the hot tub doing body shots in no time.
Our five days were a blur but here are the highlights.
What we liked better about Desire over Hedo
The help was polite, and hard working. Drinks were delivered to your chair with a smile. I never once heard "soon come man". The International restaurant was excellent. I had a great steak dinner there. We ate there three of the nights, everything we ordered was excellent, and we were never disappointed. The help there was fabulous as well. The people! I did not miss the Vinnie's or Wally's. This group was wild even by Hedo standards. We were told this was more laid back than Hedo, we do not agree. The Hot Tub bartender actually was encouraging the PDAs. No sex police here. We saw more PDAs in any afternoon that we saw in a week at Hedo. When the hot tub opens at 1 PM watch out. Same thing with the party rooms at the disco. This is a voyeurs heaven. The ages ranges from early 20s to who knows what, but the majority were in there late 30s early 40s like us. At Hedo we never spent more than an hour at the disco, at Desire we were there ever night when it opened. The music was chosen to match the tastes of the audience, not the DJ. Hedo could learn from this. I did not see any guests on one day passes or any locals. There was premium liquor at all bars, and the hot tub bar stays open past 2:30 am. All the rooms have satellite TV, and both the massages and work out area are adequate. We went into the city one day and it was nothing like Negril. Cancun is really Americanized. Restaurants, shopping, you name it.
What we liked better about Hedo
These are all minor, but I wanted to fair. Desire is a little spread out. The hot tub is on the roof of the center building and does not open until 1 PM. The crowd seems to be split between the beach, the pool and the hot tub. We lost an entire day to rain. That never has happened at Hedo. We heard stories of it raining for an entire week at Desire. There is really nothing to do when it rains. They should open up the disco during the day when it rains. The food in the main dinning room was not as good as I remember at Hedo.
In conclusion we had a great time at Desire and would return. It would take some prodding to get us to go back to Hedo instead of Desire. I would recommend Desire to anyone who is not too faint of heart, or turned off by open sexual expression.
