I was surprised to read several other trip reports
complaining about Desire. We had a wonderful time, and found it to
be better than Hedonism II in many respects. We stayed for ten
days, and I think eight would have been enough, but the service and
staff were excellent.
Transportation--We took Lomas travel from the airport,
and found it to be very convenient and reliable. They also picked
us up to return us from Desire to the airport and were right on time.
Rooms--We had a king-sized bed and were very happy with
the room. It was immaculate every day, and even had a "towel
animal" on our bed each day. The showers were fine--I saw no
problems with them. The water was always warm, and had good
pressure. We had a refrigerator in the room, which was stocked
with soda, yes even Diet Coke, and water each day. You could order
room service for no charge any time of day or night.
Disco--MUCH BETTER THAN HEDO!!!! They played great music,
and people danced. There were comfortable seats all over the
disco, and it was so crowded one night that there were no seats left.
There were two poles in the middle of the dance floor that people found
many creative ways to use.
Pool--It was not as much fun as Hedo. People just
hung out in the pool, but the bar wasn't a swim up bar. You had to
get out of the pool to go get a drink. People didn't get into
games as much as at Hedo. We didn't like that part of it.
Hot tub--There was lots of activity going on in and
around the hot tub when we were there. Mostly in the beds
surrounding the hot tub. We found it to be a better place than the
Hedo one. We liked the fact that there were no Vinnies standing
around. Everyone was a couple. It was great after the
disco--you could always find a cool breeze up there, and there was a lot
of action.
Entertainment staff--Outstanding!!! We got to know them
pretty well, and they were the best! J.J. even helped my husband,
JB, with ear medicine when he had an earache. Charbel was the
best water sports guy around and taught me to windsurf--very patiently!
Nino was a charmer, and kept trying to help me learn how to salsa, and
Jasser was a sweetheart, even coming to the front desk to tell us
goodbye. We think of them during the hurricane that is hitting
Cancun now.
Food--The food was great! Especially the fish and
the shrimp. The waiters were friendly, and the service was
fantastic. The outdoor grill at lunch didn't compare to Robert, at
Hedo, but the food was still good. There was ice cream whenever
you wanted it, and plenty of choices. The International restaurant
had fabulous food, but it took us two hours to get out of there.
The Mexican restaurant was not the Mexican food I was expecting.
Guess I'm used to Tex Mex! Every morning, we were greeted by Emilio, the
waiter, who even threw the football with JB.
Mosquitoes--I never felt any mosquitoes. We had
taken bug spray, expecting a swarm, but never saw any or had any bites.
It rained two days we were there, and even then, I saw no mosquitoes.
People--We met the neatest people while we were there. Matt
and Kitty, Kay and Tom, Dean and Chris, Julie and George, Glo and
Jim, Tim and Shawn, and many others--we had a blast hanging out with you
guys! Thanks for the memories, and we hope to see you again! The
Players club from San Antonio came while we were there, so the place was
full. Most everyone was nude while we were there. I rarely saw
anyone with clothes on by the pool.
The only thing we wish could've been more like Hedo was
the scuba-diving. They don't have it included like at Hedo.
We spent a day taking a tour to Cozumel to do two dives. It wasn't
worth the drive. We left the resort at 8:30 a.m., and didn't
return until 7:00 p.m. The diving wasn't much different than in
Jamaica, and we prefer the Hedo dive staff.
The other time we left Desire was to go get a massage in
town, from Claudia. It was a sensual couple massage, and WELL
WORTH IT!!!!! She gave us the best massage we have ever had, and
it was a very "satisfying" experience!
Anyway, we would go back to Desire in a minute, and miss
the people we met there. It's well worth going there if you don't care
about the scuba diving.
