Gary & Tiffany - May, 2005

Gary and Tiffany South Florida

Desire Resort & Spa May 14 - 20, 2005

This was our first trip to Desire. We would consider ourselves Hedonism III regulars since we have been there 10 times and Hedonism II 2 times. The wife wanted to try something different this time around and the recent flight schedule changes with Air Jamaica swayed us. Air Jamaica no longer has direct flights out of south Florida. Further more the departing flights leave in the after noon and return in the morning. So until Air Jamaica makes changes we are going to avoid using them.

We used UsAirway (Scareways) since the flight was direct and left early. The flight was flawless until Gary saw the beer cart coming and decided to get up and use the restroom since drinking anymore would make him float. Just as he went in the plain started to go through some rough turbulence. He thought it was going down it was so bad. After five minutes he exited with out a drop on him. It must have sucked while going through that to hear the pilot announce that for the safety the beer cart would be put away. Ok enough of that.

We arrived at the Cancun airport and went outside to meet the representative from Lomas Travel who provided our transportation. Within 40 minutes we were pulling up to the hotel. Silvina checked us in and though our room was not ready we went to the nude pool for lunch and drinks. The staff was very outgoing and made you feel welcome. Once of the waiters named Aaron took Tiffany’s B.L.T. when she wasn’t looking. Tiffany thought it was accidentally thrown away. Aaron returned it. He wanted to see the look on Tiffany’s face. It was pretty funny.

At 3:00 P.M. our room was ready. We were a little disappointed with the room. The drapes that were to hang over the bed were missing, the room was plagued with small ants, the shower was small and the water could not be contained thus it went everywhere. The closet doors were so close to the bed that they were hard to maneuver. The room was very small and the only window other than the double doors was a small window in the bathroom. There was not much light in the room and unlike Hedonism III we were unable to rinse out garments and let them air dry. The resort does not offer laundry services too. To top it off the room above us was being refurbished so sleeping past 9:00 A.M. was out of the question. At times it got pretty loud. We were going to complain but after all, not much time is spent in the room. By the way, our room was a garden view # 2402. Our friends stayed in an ocean front # 2505. There was not much of a difference. We used to kid them and say that our room was the little storage room under the stairs. We will book a better room next time.

We found the resort to be nicely laid out. The nude pool area was large and the view of the beach was spectacular. We spent some days on the beach and others by the pool. Hugo would come by and get our drinks. It was a nice touch that sometimes occurs at Hedonism III. The outdoor grill was a great place to have lunch.

When we arrived we thought we heard a familiar voice. It ended up being Sweetness from Hedonism III. She and Ebony left Hedonism III for Desire. One day both of them listened to our Ipods which was very amusing. They danced and shook their asses for us for what seemed like a half an hour. It was our own little private show.

J.J. the entertainment coordinator did an excellent job keeping the crowd busy. We played pool volleyball and water polo. One afternoon J.J. played name that tune and artists. At first J.J. was amused that we knew so many songs and who sung them then it was like, yes Gary. We are not sure if the other people were pissed at us but the end result was that it was a blow out with a T-Shirt as a prize. During another evening Tiffany volunteered us for a couples game in which we took first place with another couple. We gave the next T-Shirt to the couple that came in last. They were very nice and everyone was a good sport.

We spent the first few nights eating in restaurants in Cancun so we missed a lot of the activities. A few nights we went to the disco and roof top hot tub and had a great time. Friends of ours from Florida traveled with us so the four of us had a blast together. Unfortunately they left early so we had to fend for ourselves so we were able to meet some more couples. It appeared as though everyone had a great time. We did see several single males lurking around. One night security had to ask one of them to leave the hot tub. We don’t know if the wife was sleeping in the room or what but it happened. So if you are one of the many couples that avoids Hedonism because of the single males it just goes to show that even at a couples resort it still can occur.

The P.D.A. level was equal to Hedonism III with the exception of the room top area which has about six beds. Everyone that we encountered was very respectful. That includes the staff and the construction workers who were refurbishing several of the rooms. Everyone was very nice.

When we departed we were asked to fill out a comment card and of course the room issues were addressed. We would like to see the Playboy channel in all of the room and to do away with the issuance of dinning cards. Unlike Hedonism in which you can make reservations if seating is available at any of the formal dinning areas, Desire basis it on how many nights you stay there. Six nights gives you two opportunities for formal dinning. If you pay as much as a trip to Hedonism it should be unlimited.

We were pretty harsh in our comparisons to Hedonism III but kept an open mind. Both resorts have good points and bad points. In our opinion the short direct flight and location from the airport are both pluses in our book. We most likely will return.

To Silvina, Aaron, Hugo, J.J., Sweetness, Ebony and the rest of the staff, thanks you for a wonderful experience.
