Desire
This was our first trip to Desire after
four trips to Hedo II, so we will compare a few things
that do make a difference to us.
GETTING THERE.....The Cancun airport is
modern and clean. Plenty of places to shop for booze and
gifts. We enjoyed shopping and lunch at TGI Fridays before
we departed for home. Immigration line was much quicker
than Jamaica's back in February. Ten minutes vs. one hour.
Customs was easy. Hand your card and push the button. If
the light is green, pass on to your transfer. Red light
gets a luggage inspection. Careful getting to your
transfer. Employees for timeshare companies will ask you
what resort you are staying in. I answered and the guy
said..Okay, Desire. You need to come to my desk for a
minute. We wasted a couple of minutes figuring out he was
wanting us to visit another resort to sell us a timeshare.
We booked our transfer with a company called LOMAS. They
were waiting for us in a new air-conditioned car. The ride
over was an easy 20 minutes. The highway is 4 lanes with a
median. Not much to see on the way. Pretty much flat and
swampy all the way to the resort.
CHECK-IN/ROOMS....Check-in was easy.
Champagne and frozen wash-clothes were nice. Staff was
very friendly. Room would not be ready for a few hours so
they gave us both lockers with keys in the spa to store
our personals and small bags. We ended up in room# 1311.
Our building had 2 rooms upstairs and 2 down. Our upstairs
room shared a balcony. We were only a few steps from the
nude pool so we were happy with location. Our room was
nice and clean with a comfortable king size bed (some
rooms only had queen beds?). The in-room fridge was
nice. Stocked daily with 3 liter bottles of water, a few
soft drinks, and a couple cans of beer. Plenty of hot
water in showers but....our biggest complaint about the
whole trip would be the smell of the water in the showers.
Kind of a sulfur/swampy smell. We figured that was just
Mexico.
BEACH.....Compared to Hedo II, the beach
atmosphere at Desire was quite different. The beach was
quiet and couples tended to keep more to themselves. Very
relaxing. The grass roof huts were nice for people who
prefer shade. No resorts very close so you could walk nude
for maybe a mile or so. Not much to look at except the
sea. One of the reasons we enjoy the beach at H II is the
view of mountains, sailboats, resorts, the city, floaters,
etc..The water was never calm like Hedo either and the
beach had plenty of seaweed and needed a good raking. We
spent one day on the beach and were most impressed that
the bar staff checked on us at least once every 30
minutes. Hedo could learn from this.
POOL.....The nude pool is probably more
than twice the size of the Hedo II nude pool. This was the
main center of activity during the day. Two rows of
lounges surround the pool. Some were in the shade for
those that prefer it. Water volleyball and basketball were
played most everyday. Always bingo, trivia, body paint, or
some kind of drinking game going on. Tammy actually won a
beer chugging contest. That's my Tennessee girl! The bar
staff did a god job around the pool as well. They do pay
attention when your glass is empty.
ROOF TOP HOT TUB/ BAR/ PLAY
AREA .........The Rooftop Party Place is where the real
fun starts everyday around 5:00 pm.This is one of two
places at the resort that public displays of affection are
permitted. For the few people to whom this offends at Hedo
II...if you visit Desire, simply don't go up these two
flights of stairs. Great view from up top with a clear
plastic wall to protect from wind or falling off. Full bar
here with one side being swim-up from hot tub, the other
with comfortable stools for those that choose to remain
dry. Several tables, chairs, and a few lounges add to the
surroundings. The first thing that catches your eye here
are the 7 or 8 canopy beds that run along two walls. Happy
Hour at hot tub was always fun. This was the best time to
mingle and make friends. Body shots were common and
everyone had a great time. Always something to laugh
about. The beds were being used some during the day, but
when visiting after disco time around 1:00 a.m., all beds
were usually taken. Very sexually charged atmosphere on
the Rooftop Party Place. Plenty of large towels up here
for everyone......To us, this was more fun than the Hedo
II hot tub. The couples only atmosphere was great. We DID
NOT miss the Vinnies, Wallies, lurkers, hookers, and local
studs on a day pass.
BARS/ DRINKS.....The resort has plenty of
bars. Pool, disco, lobby, roof-top, and restaurants were
all well stocked and well staffed. They could make most
any drink, but we were a little disappointed in the
margaritas. They were made with Fresca and tasted nothing
like what we were accustomed to at Mexican restaurants
here at home. The beer on tap was great and always very
ice cold. A large list of drinks and ingredients are
posted at each bar. Plenty of fresh drinking water at the
bars too.The bar staff were the best. They really seemed to
enjoy taking care of you. Warm, friendly, and loved to
chat and have fun when they had the time. The rooftop
bartenders were very helpful with setting up body shots
for the lovely ladies.
FOOD.....You will not go hungry at Desire.
The breakfast buffet in the main dining room was as good
as we've had anywhere. The home-made waffles and French
toast rolled in cinnamon are a must as well as omelets
made to order. Large varieties of fruits, pastries,
cereals, meats, and cheeses are all
available.....Lunch was available at the two poolside
grills. Grilled to order, burgers, sausages, fish,
chicken, pork chops,etc...as well as a buffet with rice,
pasta, veggies, fruits, and desserts. A freezer with 8
tubs of ice cream and a make your own sundae bar was a
very nice way to beat the heat. The dinner buffet was also
great and we always found something we liked. They cooked
a whole pig one night. The international restaurant was
good. We had rack of lamb and shrimp. Both were very
tasty. We did not get to try the Mexican restaurant for
dinner. The pizza buffet was open at the lobby bar (near
the disco) from midnight until 6:00am. Excellent.....I
must admit that being nekkid all day made me crave
Robert's world famous jerk chicken and fries from Hedo II.
DISCO.....In our opinion the disco is where
Hedo II could take a lesson. The disco is a large area
with plenty of sofas, coffee tables, bar tables, and
stools. All this and the bar surrounds the dance floor.
The center of the dance floor is elevated and has two
poles. Another single pole is on a small stage near one of
the sofas. We like the idea of everything being in one
large comfortable room. The music was mostly popular
American dance tunes which is fine to us. People do tend
to dance more to songs they are familiar with (like Tammy
and Love Shack). The large video screen is a nice touch
too. Ventilation and A/C worked well. Not smoky at all. PJ
night was a blast. ....Through a door beside the bar and
you are in the other permitted play area. The room is very
clean and has a sexy atmosphere with erotic furnishings.
Plenty of large towels here too. Two large screens showing
XXX movies adds to the mood. You cannot see in from the
disco or bar area..... Great parties at the disco every
night!
ENTERTAINMENT & STAFF..... We thought all
the staff throughout the whole resort did a wonderful job
and made us feel very welcome. No attitudes here, just
appreciation for visiting their resort. The male
entertainment coordinators were all locals and did a
wonderful job and were fun to be around. The female EC's
were two Jamaican girls from Hedo III and one girl from
Canada. The Jamaican girls tried but it is just different
than Hedo. In talking with them I sensed they were both a
little homesick. Not sure if these jobs are taboo for
Mexican girls??
FRIENDS.... One thing Desire does have in
common with Hedo...fun friends are what make the trip. The
crowd that was present during our visit created an awesome
party atmosphere. We made friends from Ohio, Kentucky,
North Carolina, Washington, Oklahoma, Florida, Georgia,
Tennessee (go Vols), and Canada. Special thanks to our
friends "T" & "H" from Wisconsin. You guys really know how
to have fun.
WATER-SPORTS.....Did not see very much
going on since it was very windy. Not sure SCUBA fanatics
would like as much as Hedo. You must leave the resort to
catch a dive boat. Did not talk to anyone that went
snorkeling.
STUFF......Ganga was offered to us once and
we did see a couple light up on the roof one time, but
very uncommon in comparison to Hedo II........Did not use
the spa but did check it out. Very nice. Gym was well
equipped but not quite as good as Hedo II........We heard
some of the staff were feeding the crocs near the main
entrance. Hate we missed that.
CLOSE.....We found Desire to offer the best
of both worlds. If you are a couple who wants to relax,
enjoy each others company, and quiet times. ...this is the
place for you...but if you want to spice things up later
in the day and meet great people in a sexually charged
atmosphere, this is also the place. If you prefer a
"couples only' atmosphere, we can't imagine a better
place. We do love Hedo and enjoy going with our large
group each year. We missed the Hedo beach coziness and
floating our hangovers away. Wish we could figure out a
way to visit each once a year!
