Buster & Felicia, Mike & Shelly - December, 2004

12/11-12/16

This is a combination trip report from Buster & Felicia from MS and Mike & Shelley from NC.  For all 4 of us, this was our 2nd visit to a clothing-optional, “lifestyle” friendly resort (we all visited Hedo III last December) so below we’ll state some comparisons, in our opinions, between the two resorts.

We all booked this trip through DennyP Travel and our transfers were with ExpoCancun.  After landing in Cancun, we left the airport, and in less than 20 minutes we were crossing the lagoon in front of the resort (yes, the crocodiles are real!).

Check-In

We arrived to the resort about 2pm and were immediately sitting at check-in under a canopy with an ice-cold towel in one hand and a glass of champagne in the other.  We were given wrist\ankle bands to wear during our stay (advice: wear them on your ankle).  From there, we were off to our rooms.

The Room

We had rooms 2504 & 2505 which are located oceanfront at the far end of the resort.  It was a great location because when you were in the room, it was nice and quiet and you could walk out of your room and right on to the beach.  Both rooms had queen beds and open showers (which were not as bad as we thought from what we had read on previous trip reports).  The showers did leave the bathroom floors wet, but a rolled up towel outside the shower usually did the trick.  The a/c was cold, the beds were a little hard, and bottled water was always in the fridge.  The only negative was one room had a slight odor when would enter, but it wasn’t noticeable after being in the room a while.

Hedo III does have larger standard rooms and the bathrooms have bathtubs and brighter lighting, but Desire’s rooms are plenty big enough with ample closet space.

Food

The food was very good and there was always a wide variety.  Starting with breakfast; if they didn’t have something you wanted, then you weren’t hungry to begin with!  The bacon was the best.  Eggs; use your imagination to count the ways they can be prepared.  Lunch was a hodgepodge of selections at the poolside grille (the buffet is closed for lunch).  You could get anything from bar food (burgers, chicken tenders, etc.) to grilled fish, chicken, steak, etc.  Dinner was either at the buffet or at one of the two specialty restaurants.  The buffet had different themes each night, but it was all great food.  The two specialty restaurants (Mexican and International) both required reservations, but they are both worth it!  They each served 4-6 course meals and the food at both was excellent!

Really, the only considerable differences in the 2 resorts is that Desire’s food is overall a little better than Hedo and Desire has room service.

Gathering Places

The bar by the lobby was one of our favorite places to hang out.  Most of the friendships we made started at this bar.  It’s open 24-hours and there were always a lot of people there in the evenings before and after the disco.  After 11:30pm they served pizza and sandwiches, which were a big hit.

The pool was the place to be during the day for activities.  Whether it was getting sun, playing bingo or other pool games, or lounging in the large round bed, there was always some meeting and greeting taking place.

The beach at Desire is MUCH better than Hedo III.  It is absolutely beautiful and is a great place to relax.  There are plenty of chairs and it’s a good place to get away from all the action if you choose.

Jacuzzi

The roof-top jacuzzi was big and had abundant sitting.  The beds made a very nice place for afternoon naps (and fun) in the sun.  The only negative about this jacuzzi is there are no handrails or steps for getting in and out.  The jacuzzi was one place where PDA’s were plenty.  This was a great place to get your night started!

The Disco

The disco was awesome.  Occasionally, all 3 of the poles were being used and you could tell it was not the first time on a pole for some.  Many appreciated the lounge area with abundant seating and there was a good selection of music being played (Mini Me kept it rockin’).  Finally, the playroom; It was certainly named correctly!  The first night we were there, a dozen or so couples were in the playroom.  With all the live action and the TV’s playing porn, it was food to satisfy your sexual hunger.

The differences between the 2 resorts in this category are many.  The only thing Hedo had that Desire did not have was the cage.  Otherwise, the disco at Desire is MUCH better!  It’s bigger, cleaner, and there is plenty of seating and dancing room.

The Staff

The entire staff was awesome!  There are a few we would like to mention by name that helped make our trip memorable.  Andre, J.J., and David did a great job at the pool.  The games were really fun and between us, we came home with 3 t-shirts and the title of Mr. Desire for the week.  Handling the music for the week was Adrian or “Mini Me”.  Aaron took care of us at breakfast every morning.  And last but not least, Edgar, our bartender.  We could never sit with a half-empty glass and he introduced us to tequila-poppers.  Those would start our trip to la-la land every time.

The difference between this staff (E.C.’s) and Hedo III is the Desire staff was a little more low-key (not that there’s anything wrong with that) and the service at the restaurants was much better at Desire.

One thing we need to mention that did not fit into any of the above sections; bring bug spray!  The mosquitoes were very bad.  We are all from the South so we know and are used to mosquitoes, but these were bad.

In conclusion, it was a very relaxing and fun trip.  We would definitely return and encourage others to try it for themselves.
