Last year was our first trip to Hedo II, this year we decided to try Desire.

Our room was ready upon our arrival and when we asked to be re-located to the second floor, our request was immediately accomodated. We opted for a normal room and were pleased with the size and cleanliness. The fridge was stocked with cola, ice water and beer. While many folks have commented in previous trip reports that the beds were hard, we found them to be firm and quite comfortable.

Every day I was up early and selected our chaise lounges around the main pool. While you have to sign in and out for beach towels, (lost towels cost $20.00) they were always available.  The pool is large and the area around it offers both sun and shaded areas. Volleyball, body painting, bingo and other games were played everyday. A good way to pass some time and have some laughs. The EC's did a good job without being overbearing. There were a few days were no one wanted to do anything but lounge and the EC's just poked fun at us all.

The beach is VERY nice. It offers an abundance of chaises and covered sun decks, a few which were over the water. The sand is a lovely powedery sand and you can walk nearly a mile or so without running into another soul. While the beach does get it share of seaweed, the staff rakes it daily.

Being served drinks are not a problem if you're at the pool or on the beach. Often I'd have a drink being served to me before I had the last sip of my previous drink!

I opted to have 2 full body deep tissue massages at their spa. The massage was so good that I was 5'5" tall before the massages and I swear I'm now 5"10"!  The spa is very nice and clean and offers both a sauna and steam room, a workout room, fresh fruit and better showers than are in the rooms. (I showered in the spa every day instead of my room because the shower heads aren't as high and got the soap out of my hair a LOT faster.)

While there are 3 restaurants, we didn't get the opportunity to dine at the International one. Make your reservation for that one as soon as you arrive as it books quickly.  The buffet offers a lovely breakfast, serving fresh fruits, lox, pasteries, fresh waffles, french toast, and a variety of eggs and omelets. I looked forward to a juice they served at breakfast which was a combination of orange/pineapple/celery/spinach/cactus. It's a MUST try!  Dinners at the buffet were decent.  Two nights in a row we opted to have dinner at the Mexican restaurant. The food there was good and it was nice to sit outside to dine as the sun set.

The jacuzzi was very nice and the deck with beds around it made it a very sensual atmosphere.

The disco was nice, large, not smokey, and the music was not so loud that you couldn't talk over it.  Make a point of stopping in the play room in the back of the disco....it's a erotic place to cozy up with your honey or whatever/whomever else you want to cozy up with!

Desire is very sensual, intimate, erotic, romantic and classy resort.  I overheard someone talking about painting rocks at Desire, the way everyone does at Hedo.  I thought painted rocks would look like graffitti at Desire, rather than the sweet memories they resemeble at Hedo.

In the evenings, the ladies dressed to kill; tastefully, provactively and all looked very sexy.

The staff was phenomonal. We wanted for nothing. I was the earlier riser and every morning around 6am, a cup of coffee was waiting for me from one of the waiters at the restaurant (which didn't open until 7am). At breakfast, we didn't have to ask for our "green juice" - it was served to us as we sat down.

One the third day, my boyfriend took ill in the middle of the night with heat stroke/fever of 105.  I called the front desk to summon a doctor. The night manager, Milko, came to the room within minutes with ice, cold towels and more bottled water.  He stayed with me until the doctor arrived (20 minutes after being called and driving in from Cancun). I appreciated Milko staying with me as I was worried and his presence kept me at ease. The boyfriend got a shot and a 20 minute cold shower and was fine within a few hours..... The cost of the vacation: $1,500.00.  The cost of the doctor: $120.00.  The cost of seeing your boyfriend getting a shot in the rear: PRICELESS!  lol  (yes, we can laugh about it NOW!)

Many thanks to both Philipes, Leonardo, Oswaldo, Milko and Leticia. Their service was OUTSTANDING and most appreciated.

Warm smiles to all the quests we met and shared laughs with!!

A few side notes:
tipping is not required, however we did as it was well deserved
bring your own rafts to use in the pool
take the snorkeling trip
go into Playa del Carmen for a few hours to shop and nur around but if you share a taxi with a certain couple from Atlanta (you know who you are), be prepared to laugh your butts off on the way back!!
