This isn't really a trip report but more just a bunch of rambling on our trip to Desire...
Well I'll tell you this much we LOVE Desire ! It was fabulous. I think they will definitely give Hedo a run for their money in terms of the service. They catered to our every whim and the staff bent over backwards to make sure that we were okay now mind you we were there during a lifestyles takeover so even with the crowd everything was impeccable I cannot complain about anything. We are definitely going back. But don't get me wrong Hedo is and always will be our first love hands down.
Anyway back to Desire: It's about 20 mins from the airport in Cancun and might I add it's waay cheaper than Hedo but you get more for your moneys worth I think. When we arrived Will had taken our bags from the driver. Well out of nowhere comes a bellman and insists that Will not lift a finger and leave the bags right where we were. Then we were whisked away by the front desk staff who greeted us with cool wash cloths which was so refreshing considering that it was about 90 degrees outside and we were both hot. Before we could finish wiping our faces glasses of Champagne were placed in our hands and we were handed our room keys. All of this took no more than 10 minutes.
There's no nude or prude side unlike Hedo and its about 108 rooms so much smaller that Hedo but you know what who says smaller isn't better. The service was excellent. Not one complaint. Never had to fight for towels because everyday we had 4 towels placed in our rooms the real fluffy thick towels at that. One day our toilet overflowed and we called room service. No sooner had we gotten off the phone there was a knock on our door. It had taken the engineer all of what 10 mins to get to the room if that. There are 2 pools although the first one is by the entrance and no one really uses that because it's in the shade but the other pool is huge. There's also a grill by the bigger pool and next to that are the 2 restaurants and the restrooms so you never have to walk more than a few paces to get anything and if you don't feel like being by the pool then the beach is literally a few steps away. The water is crystal clear unlike at Hedo no icky stuff either on the beach other than the seaweed and the sand is powdery soft and feels soo good between your toes. Snorkeling is available everyday at 1 and leaves right from the resort. It's $25 US per person .There's a rooftop hottub/jacuzzi that overlooks the pool and the beach it doesn't' hold as much as the one at Hedo but the view from up there is gorgeous. There is no swim up bar however that's not a problem because the waiters come to your lounge chair and take your order and bring your drinks back to you. They have a bar that's open 24 hours a day (main bar) . The disco is very nice and comes complete with poles for anyone's delight and the bonus is that there are ample seats and couches just in case you need to rest. Plus there is a room off to the side of the dj booth called the play room which has nice lounge chairs and plush sofas complete with towels and wash cloths for you to clean up afterwards if you catch my drift. The DJ is definitely in need of assistance with his music repertoire though. . There are I believe 4 entertainment co-coordinators. They are very nice they are not pushy and overbearing either. They politely ask you to participate and you either do or you don't. We chose not to. We were having too much fun just lounging around. There is a buffet style restaurant where breakfast, lunch and dinner is served. In addition you receive 2 vouchers depending on the length of your stay to dine at the other 2 specialty restaurants one is a Mexican restaurant and the other serves international cuisine men must wear slacks and shoes and women nicely dressed. When you see the restaurant you will see why. Pastafari is nice but when you see the decor for this other restaurant it's really nice. It's all white. There's also a bar in there and like a cocktail/waiting area with white leather chairs. The food is good also. There are mini refrigerators in the rooms which are filled with bottled water by the maids everyday and if you need more you can always request it. Be forewarned however BRING BUG/MOSQUITO REPELLANT. We were damn near eaten alive in the rooms and I think this is because when the maids come to clean the room they leave the doors open. So our recommendation to all is to try it you just might like it . Any questions please feel free to email us @
