Jim & Tricia - February, 2004 Wet, Wild, and Wicked at Desire

Desire trip report Feb 10th -Feb 17th 2004

I Jim, am 41 Tricia is 36. We are both collaborating on this report. We have been to Hedonism II five times. Our latest trip was this past December with Denny P's WWW group. It was one of our best trips to date, so it would be hard for Desire to meet our expectations.
This trip week put us between to groups. Starting with Lifestyles, and ending with Denny's WWW group.

Arrival: We landed in Cancun about 1pm. It is true what everyone said. Get your bags, and get through the airport without stopping to talk to anyone. Trish was approached by someone that looked like airport security or someone official. He told her to put away her passport to be safe and asked if we had transportation to the resort, which we did. He then said let me get you a free map to help you out. I love maps, so this did slow us down. We soon realized he was just trying to get us to book some off resort excursion, we took off for our ride that was waiting for us.
We arranged our transport through Lifestyles which we had booked with. It cost us $20.00 pp round trip. We had no trouble with our 20 minute ride to Desire.

Rooms: Upon arrival to Desire our room was ready, and we were escorted there. Our room was #1702 garden view. It only took a 30 second walk from the main lobby. Our room was the same one that you see in the Desire brochure. It was very large, with big columns at the front of the bed. We had plenty of draws, and hanger space. A TV that only one of us could watch from the bed because the columns are in the way. This is not a big concern, the only time we had the thing on was to listen to the music channel, and the porn loop which is really awful.
The Resort is rather small, so walking anywhere from any room is only a short walk away.
The bed can be a bit uncomfortable. There is no boxspring. It is an over stuffed mattress. We took a foam mattress pad with us and it made the bed a lot more cushy. You can buy one for about $12 bucks, but they are a bitch to pack.
If you are tall you will not like the room we had. We are both 5'8" and our feet where just off the bed.
The rooms are very clean, and the maids do a great job.

Beach, Pool, and Hot Tub: The beach is very nice. When the weather is nice you can stay there all day. It has soft white sand and plenty of lounge chairs, if you get there early. There is a lot of seaweed, and the surf is much to rough for floating around. The wind can be pretty strong too. We had to leave a couple of time because it sand blasted us. We where even blasted by the pool one day.

The pool is nice, maybe a bit cool for some, but I like it that way. Very refreshing!
Getting a chair however can be very difficult. We were there at 7am one morning, and there where no more lounges to be found. We had to bring some up from the beach area.
The pool set up is not as nice as Hedonism II. It has no seating or tables in the pool for groups to gather around or do body shots. The bar is not in the pool to belly up to and make new friends.
The bar itself is very small (smaller then Robert's grill at Hedo), so there is no one hanging around it. They do have waiters that bring you drinks right to your chair. This can be great if you are feeling lazy, but it also takes away from socializing.
We were disappointed hanging by the pool. We are not into relaxing and reading books. (unless we had too much libation the night before). We like joke, play, dance, drink, do body shots, and be sexual in and around the pool. Damn! we even played bingo (Not sexual, not tequila just bingo) around the pool one day.
The pool area is mostly empty after 3 pm, with a lot of folks headed for the hot tub.

The hot tub is where a lot of fun takes place, you are sitting in a more circular pattern, not lined up on lounge chairs. The tub also has a bar attached to it, so this place is louder, more playful, more laughs and much more socializing than just about anywhere else at Desire. This is the place to be for happy hour. 4pm to 7pm it is packed. The only negative about the hot tub is the cement that it is made of. It is a bit rough, and after sitting a while you will chafe your butt.

The L' Alternative Disco: The design of the disco is awesome. It has couches to sit and mingle at one end. the raised dance floor with two dance poles is a nice touch, and some high tables and bar stools at on either side to set your drinks on, or have a seat between dancing. We did have some trouble with the bartender there. He would only let you get two drinks at a time, and would not make any blender drinks. In the beginning of the week, he would hand you your drinks, and then slide his tip jar over to you.  He had a real bad attitude and pissed a lot of people off. Trish went to the front desk to complain, and the sent up another bar tender to handle the crowd.
The music varies from good to bad. They will play requests, so if you can, bring some music you like to dance to. They are big on 70's disco music, and that stuff makes me cringe. One night I think the DJ wanted to go home early. If say Madonna was playing and everyone was dancing. His next song would be AC/DC if that music started to work he would switch to country or fifties music. He managed to clear the disco before 12:30a.m.
The love den sex room behind the bar was a sexy treat. In there you can be a voyeur, have fun with your honey or play with your new friends. Its very laid back and there was no pressure to do anything, but with the sexually charged atmosphere you will want to get it on. You should defiantly find some time to check this room out.

The Food: The EL Arrecife is the main dinning room. It serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. The food was ok. Not great not bad. One thing we can suggest is to have the cook leave the food on the grill longer. The eggs where a bit runny, and the shrimp was kinda raw et.... The service was good, and the wait staff is always friendly. They like to joke around with you too. The tables are mostly for four. With a few six or eight. This too can make it tough if you are making lots of friends. If you have a large group. Try to get there early and just push some tables together.
The Coconut grill is set up next to the nude pool. It has burgers, nachos chicken wings and sandwiches. The food here ok too.
The IL Piacere is the more elegant restaurant. Men must wear a collard shirt, pants and shoes.  It's a very romantic setting, and the food here is the best in the resort. You must make reservations ahead of time, and you must bring your meal voucher. They give you meal tickets when you check in. One ticket for a five night stay, and two if you stay more than seven. This ticket system sucks. There are always empty tables, but if you try to go with friends they won't let them sit with you unless they have a ticket. We had to forge one of our tickets just so we could have our friends sit with us, and if you don't want to get tossed out of there. You have to keep your hands above the table at all times. (sorry, inside joke)

The Melange bar, located just outside the lobby is a great place to meet before dinner. The service and the drinks there are top notch.

We had a great trip over all. The weather was not too kind. Our first couple of days were sunny, but one was so windy it created a sand storm. Then the clouds rolled in, and it was cloudy or raining the rest of our stay.

We were lucky to have joined a Yahoo group called Desirable Degenerates. Over 130 in the group. We all chatted, and posted pics before our trip. It made it much easier to meet others, and make friendships quicker.

Will we ever go back to Desire? Yes!, especially when the Degenerates or Denny P's group will be there.
Will Desire replace Hedo? Not for us!  We talked to a lot of people that have been to Hedo III. They said they liked Desire better (we have not been to Hedo III, so we cannot do a comparison) They said Desire was a cheaper alternative.
We do not find Desire as being much cheaper than Hedo II. (We get great rates from Denny P) plus snorkeling and diving at hedo is included. They have more nighttime entertainment, and they have a bitch'in waterslide!

The two Resorts both have there pluses and minuses, and both should be experienced.

  Some fun stuff:

Playing with the crocks
Water balloon fight
Nipple shots in the dinning room
The DJ playing my "PARTY TIME" CD around the pool almost every day
Dinning with Serall & Rich
Meeting all the other Degenerates

I hope you don't take this report too seriously, because...
