Darrel & Pam - July, 2004

We traveled to Desire Resort on 7/25-8/1.

Disclaimer: This report is only our opinion. It does not imply, guarantee, or even suggest that you will have as good a time as we did.

TRAVEL

We booked our travel and airport transfer thru DennyP travel. Things went smoothly. Thank you DennyP for your assistance. Just a note-if you frequent and/or enjoy this board, consider DennyP for your travel needs. We have traveled to Cancun several times and were prepared for the process of getting thru customs and immigration. Your wait time is just luck of the draw. As you enter the airport you will go down a ramp to the customs area. If a couple of planes have arrived at the same time then your wait time may be long. Be patient as the line moves fairly well. Our airport transfer was with Expo Cancun who was waiting for us when we exited the airport. It took about 35 minutes to get outside to the shuttle van.

ARRIVAL

The transfer to Desire took about 30 minutes. A long road off Highway 307 thru the swamp and we were there. We were greeted by crocodiles as we entered. Check-in was smooth as our Garden View room was ready when we arrived. Our bags were delivered to our room promptly. We set out to get something to eat and look around. The Coconut Grill is closed on Sunday but found something at the lobby bar. The grounds are well maintained.

OUR ROOM

We stayed in the 1800 block of rooms on the ground floor. Our Garden View room was simple though nice. There is plenty of closet space even with all that we packed. We like to dress up for dinner and probably pack more than most people. Drawer space was not a problem since they have both built-in shelves and a dresser. There was a pair of pillars at the foot of the bed that added a nice touch. The mattress was firm but not uncomfortable. The porn channel loops most of the day. The bathroom lighting is dim. We did have some mold around the shower and ants to greet us each day. We are not ones to major on minor things so we coexisted for the week. There have been discussions concerning issues at the resort. While we agree that some things could be improved upon, this is not a four star resort and it sits between a swamp and a beach. Add this to the fact that you are in Mexico. We came to Desire with average expectations and were pleasantly surprised each day as those expectations were exceeded. Bottom line is that we went to experience the excitement that makes Desire Resort desirable. This was accomplished.

BARS

Service was good. The drinks were not as strong as we would have liked. Which was probably a real good thing after sitting in the sun and jacuzzi all day. They make a decent Dirty Banana.

RESTAURANTS

The buffet was good with just enough daily variety to keep it interesting. Breakfast was a real treat as there was a large choice of items including low fat and low carb. Waffles and eggs can be ordered to your liking. Do yourself a favor and go see Matilde. She makes up a great omelet. Her smile and attitude really made our mornings. The specialty restaurants, which require reservations, include Mexican and international. Both restaurants request that the gentlemen wear pants and collared shirt. The Mexican restaurant is served outside close to the pool. The food was good and the service was excellent. This was a six course dinner. The international restaurant was elegant. The food and service were excellent. This was also a six course dinner. The specialty restaurants and buffet offer bar service and wine. We suggest a late dinner which provides more time at the jacuzzi tub and bar before dinner and eliminates the down time between dinner and the disco as not a lot is planned for this time.

STAFF

The entertainment staff-JJ, Richey, and Maria-did a good job. They do not have quite as much going during the day or night as Hedo 3 but it is entertaining. Juan at the front desk can do or fix anything. One of the things that draws us back to Mexico is the wonderful attitude of the Mexican people.

DISCO

The disco is nice with plenty of seating. The dance floor is large with two poles. The poles saw a lot action which was fun. The selection of music was good as the DJ did a good job of changing it up. The bar service in the disco was very good. First time for body shots. Now for the play room-what a great idea. It starts getting busy after midnight. Porn was being shown on two television screens. Use your imagination for this room as what happens in Mexico-stays in Mexico. You'll just have to go and experience this for yourself. This definitely added some excitement to our vacation.

ROOF TOP JACUZZI

It provides a great view of the ocean. It holds about 25-30 people with both a swim up and walk up side to the bar. It has several beds up there-again, you'll have to use your imagination. Another place that added excitement to our vacation. The pool emptied out about 5pm and most everyone moved to the jacuzzi until time to get ready for dinner.

BEACH

A nice beach with plenty of beach loungers and palapas for shade. They have quite a chore trying to keep the beach clean of seaweed since it is thick on that side of the peninsula. Different motorized and non-motorized watercraft are available. The sail boat has been repaired and was used quite a bit. The beach is open on both ends and you could take off for a long walk.

SECURITY

Security seemed to do a good job covering the grounds without being noticeable. We understood they have added security. They cover the entire resort from the gate to the beach.

GENERAL

We are looking forward to a return trip. We are not in the lifestyle but enjoyed everyone and the energy they brought to the resort. While we would not consider this as a replacement to Hedo 3, it is a nice choice. The personalities of the resorts are quite different. Desire seemed a little more sexually charged than Hedo 3 during the week we were there. Please feel free to email us with questions.

Respectfully,
