Trip Report - Jim and Terri; Desire Resort 9-16 August
Where to start. The entire week was great and made us firm believers in the place. We arrived about 1030 on Saturday, got right thru customs and went to look for our prearranged transfers, strongly recommend having these. Finding the correct ride to the resort was interesting as there are literally 50 people trying to get your attention when you get thru customs. Just look lost, know what company you are looking for, and stay the course. You and your transfer company will soon be united. Then a quick 20 minute ride and your there. The only thing about checking in, besides the champaign and the towels, is to get Cesar to put your ID bracelet on your ankle and not your wrist. Much more comfortable that way.
The ocean front room was very nice and literally 15ft to the beach. Good a/c, hot water and cleaning services the entire week. The beach was one of the high points for us; the grass was picked up every AM, palapas are great to get out of the sun when necessary, the water temperature was like a good bath and the bottom was all sand and grass. We are beach people and spent the majority of each day just chilling out. Good bar service on the beach with one of the staff always in motion to keep the glasses full. Order next drink upon delivery of the first.
Pool is good size and where most of the action is during the day. The staff does a good job of keeping the scheduled activities on track. Most popular was the daily water volley ball and water aerobics.
Food was good in the main buffet restaurant but the restaurant was warm both in the AM and at dinner. We ate all lunches from for pool side grill and enjoyed everyone. The fancier restaurant had a good menu. Even though you needed to make reservations the place was never full. Dining was relaxed but never took us over 1.5 hrs for a five course dinner.
Entertainment: The disco is fun and the theme nights are as to be expected. It can get wild but everyone seemed to be having a good time. Terri would have left me for Juan the bartender (beautiful blues eyes she claimed, but it could have been because he was so shy). Just about everyone staying at the resort showed up at the disco. The back room gets good use and the hot tub doesn=t really get started until the disco clears out.
As always the people you meet make the vacation worthwhile. Thanx to Mike and Eileen, Rich and Joy, Gary and Donna, Bert and Janet, Phil and Sandy and all the others we met.
