Desire Resort/Cancun Trip report

We just got back from staying at the resort from June 30th thru July 7th and are ready to give our opinion again. When we first got to the resort we realized that it is not an new resort but rather a newly purchased/older resort. Our room the first evening had lots of ants on the bed, in the bathroom, throughout the room. I informed the resort first thing in the morning and asked that they spray. We went to the pool and upon returning to the room had a note that we were being moved. Darn, they took us from the upstairs garden view room and put us in oceanfront ground floor ! VERY nice. J The food started off ok in the buffet but got better as the week went on. The specialty restaurant was ok but not real special and the grill by the pool was great. If you want safe to eat, not real spicy and plenty of it, try the chicken fajitas and chili cheese fries. The sailboats and hobie didnt work the entire time that we were there though the wind never stopped. If its important to you to use them call to make sure they have them fixed. The hot tub now has a new heater, they put it in midway thru our stay and the difference was tremendous. The staff was great but it will really help to be able to speak a little bit of Spanish or be good with sign language. The entertainment staff is to die for! They will keep you going non stop if thats what you want or will leave you be if thats what you are after. The disco is small but nice and the play room behind it is well stocked with couches, pillows. The bars need work. They constantly run out of mixers and the bar brands that they serve. The music around the pool could be more in tune with our age crowd too. You will see the same action that you see at a Hedo resort during a lifestyle week and it is real easy to meet new friends . Would we go again, defiantly. But we agree that as improvements are made, the resort will be twice as good by this time next year. The management is reactionary in that they repair it as you bring a problem to their attention so we are sure that most of the bugs will be worked out in the next few months. Go down, for the price you cant beat it!
